How to trim a door to size without splintering

  • If you are needing to trim off the bottom of your door because it’s dragging on the carpet or new flooring then this guide is a must have (and cheap) piece of equipment for your workshop.
    Why? Because using a power saw leaves a door splintered. Using this saw guide stops your circular saw blade tearing at the grains of your door leaving a smooth straight finish.
    This video shows you how to easily build a saw guide, so you can clamp and cut, this door cutting guide or panel cutting jig makes it easy to cut exactly on your measurements like a tracksaw.
    This guide is also used by woodworkers when they cut panelling timber like plywood and MDF leaving a clean saw cut.Not everyone owns a professional sized table saw or expensive tracksaw - so this DIY cutting jig is an essential tool, I wish I had discovered it earlier.

    Love it, saved me from buying a 90 inch aluminum saw guide for $100+ to cut an 80 inch long door. Thanks M8.

    This is straight genius. Thank you so much!! I was able to trim 1/8” from the door with no issues. Made ours from PVC but it worked perfectly.

    When did you cut the guide piece for the 170 mm cut at 1:36?

    • @InspireDIY
      @InspireDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate, it’s just a straight piece of scrap that I had. You don’t even need a guide for this cut, even do it by eye on a pencil line is ok because it’s the ‘factory edge’ on the other side of this 170mm piece that we are needing . Hope that makes sense👍Kent
