Absolutely brilliant. I am bowed and humbled before the utter brilliance of the intellect of Brahms, so logical yet so emotional, appealing to both sides of the brain simultaneously, so to speak. And grateful to Bernstein for the analysis (the emotional content must necessarily remain beyond words).

Incredible!!! Absolutely magical analysis; do you have more of them? I have listened to your Tchaikovsky analysis, but are there more? If so, I would be delighted to hear them, as this was an absolute treat. : )

Excellent analysis bar by bar of the first movement of the Brahms 4th Symphony , keeping the musical form and the elements of the Classical Symphony ( totally Bethovenian) .Brahms is able to develop his inner world that explodes abroad in the form of pure feeling music , knowing that this symphony, was his last testament to a world that was a little bit cruel with the critics of his Symphonies in the XIX century as "relics of the past" and reaching their "glroria" in the early XX century .
I invite you to the analysis made by the same Bernstein on the fourth movement structured in the form of " Passacaglia " it is great.

Wow! Where was Bernstein back in the 1880s, when those stuffy critics were savaging Brahms and his music? (Just kidding of course.) I knew he was a good teacher in his young people's concerts on TV in my youth, and after half a century as a musician since then I appreciate his talent even more.
Justice was done in Vienna in 1897 as Brahms, mortally ill with cancer, summoned his last ounce of strength to attend a concert including a performance of this symphony. The audience, aware of his illness and sensing that this would be the last time they would see him alive, warmed up to the symphony and gave a standing ovation.

Hello, thanks so much for posting this (LB is my favorite conductor of Brahms (with the Vienna, especially!).
Did these parts include parts 2 and 4 of 5 or are the separate? I didn't see them on your listings.
    Thanks again!
