Britain's Debt Justice charity found in a 2022 study, based on World Bank figures, that more African governments' external debts were being owed to Western banks, asset managers and oil traders (35%) than to Chinese lenders (12%). It also found that interest rates charged on western private loans (5%) were almost double that of Chinese loans (2.7%) and that "the most indebted countries were less likely to have their debt dominated by China".

Exactly what Indonesian did with its copper industry. Former president Joko Widodo put export control on raw Copper and stated all copper processing have to be completed in Indonesia before it can be exported. Then EU took Indonesia to WTO court because they couldn't exploit Indonesia's copper anymore, WTO sided with EU, but Indonesia still keep the export control. It is obvious that DW news has been sparing no effort to discredit China. Let's listen to what the leaders of African countries have to say... In recent years, China has helped Africa develop agriculture and manufacturing, allowing some African countries to not only meet their own food needs, but also export grains. Western countries have always coveted Africa's mineral resources, and some African countries would rather give them to Chinese companies to mine at a lower price.

The proposed BRICS grains exchange enjoys wide support across the bloc, and will accelerate the decoupling of Global South markets from the Western banking and trading systems, to de-risk from farmers in North America and Europe.
When complete, Russian production and shipments on this network will exceed 8 million tons per year.
Large distribution hubs are being completed in China's Northern and Central provinces, which will further transport much cheaper Russian food exports within China, and on to benefit other Asian countries.

If you don't invest in infrastructure you cant build factories. Factories require good roads, power, water, ports etc to function. Just investing in healthcare and education is not a long term strategy but rather short term. If you are able to create factories, people will have good jobs and can pay for their own healthcare and education.

The west has been doing this resources colonialism to developing countries for decades. It's ironic for them to scream 'unfair trade' practices to China, when they are the one who are actively practicing unfair trading.

China treats African countries with respect, and you can see that in how African leaders are given state welcome in Beijing. Can’t say the same for the US which demonstrates total contempt for the continent.
That aside, there’s so much talk in the west about how China’s model is bad, but Europe and the US offer no alternatives whatsoever. In that case, we’re left with no choice but to take the offer on the table. It comes with far less strings, too.

Africa’s partnership with China has become a huge part of the continent’s growth story in recent years. China has poured investments into building roads, airports, and schools, making a real difference that many African countries appreciate. Unlike the old colonial powers that invaded and took resources, China focuses on trade and development, helping Africa progress without that same painful past.
When African nations deal with the West, it often feels different. Negotiations tend to come with strings attached-like demands for privatization or lectures on human rights-with promises that sometimes don’t materialize. Many African leaders feel that these deals don’t put their people’s needs first, and instead, they seem to trap the continent in dependency on organizations like the IMF and World Bank. Projects can be bogged down by bureaucracy or loaded with conditions that seem to benefit big corporations more than local economies.
A perfect example of the West’s approach is when U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson came to Africa to warn countries against working with China. Ironically, he landed at an airport built by Chinese firms, traveled on roads they constructed, and spoke in a building funded by China. Despite the warnings, many African leaders continue to favor China’s straightforward investments over the West’s more complicated and conditional offers.
When the West does engage with Africa, it’s often in countries with valuable resources. It’s a familiar story: nations like Libya under Gaddafi or Iraq under Saddam Hussein, when they tried to break free from Western financial dominance, quickly faced military intervention. In Africa, if a country has oil or other prized resources, Western-backed organizations may offer loans, but it’s often corporations like Exxon, BP, or Shell that ultimately benefit from those resources. And in extreme cases, if African leaders push too hard, military interventions can happen. After the dust settles, Western contractors move in to "rebuild" the country, while the true wealth flows out.

The lack of unity among African leaders is concerning, especially when they often turn to countries like the United States, China, Russia, or nations in Europe for funding instead of leveraging their own resources. If every African nation were to contribute just 4 million each year, it could collectively raise 216 million dollars annually, calculated as follows:
This significant amount could be used to improve the continent. Sometimes, I reflect on this situation and wonder if there is a divine reason behind it. It makes me think that perhaps God has a hand in the current state of affairs. If God truly wanted Africa to thrive, then the right leaders would be in power, capable of steering our nations towards progress. Instead of relying on external assistance, African nations could harness their own resources and collaborate to create sustainable development, prioritizing the welfare of their people and empowering their own nations.
