I wish they would use this on the new Pyramid. There is just something about this theme combined with the win and the audience applause that's magical!
Simultaneously, Bill Cullen hosted The $25,000 Pyramid from 1974-79 in weekly syndication, AND was a regular panelist on the daily syndicated To Tell The Truth from 1969-78; Bill was on both shows from 1974-78, not to mention in the Spring of 1978, the short-lived CBS game show Pass The Buck, which ran for three months. Also of further note, Bill hosted the really short-lived ABC game show Blankety Blanks in 1975, and before that, he hosted NBC's ultra confusing game show Winning Streak from 1974-75 (BTW, that show left the air in January 1975 along with the original Jeopardy! starring Art Fleming, which got replaced by Wheel Of Fortune on NBC's then daytime schedule.). Wow! Bill Cullen was certainly The Dean Of The Game Show Hosts. Extra by the way, Bill from 1971-74 hosted Three On A Match.
In the earlier episodes (at least up until 1975), the Syndie version actually played out the remainder of the the theme after the electric guitar riff (at 0:50). If the program ended with a win, often times there would be a break of silence during the fee plugs since they’d use the music starting at the win and finish it out. It wasn’t until later in the run where the music would loop like the daytime show (and this video).
Bill Cullen venerable as hell. A consummate professional both as a host and as a panelist. There was never a show in which he sucked as a host, although there were some of mentioned on here. He ended up hosting a few of these because producers wanted name recognition. Who better than the Dean of Game Shows for many generations, Bill Cullen. May he continue to rest in peace!
We sure love the original Pyramid Game Show theme song "Tuning Up" by Ken Aldin which started the series in 1973, and the 1982 theme by Bob Cobert is a remake of the original 1973 theme "Tuning Up" heard right here. Thanks for the upload.
The theme of "The $10,000/$20,000/$50,000 Pyramid" with Dick Clark and "The $25,000 Pyramid" (original) with Bill Cullen. Can't go wrong with this theme, or the theme of "The (New) $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid" with Dick Clark (and later John Davidson).
I get why I synthesizes were so popular in theme songs back then but I don't get the gospel organ usage. What made it so popular back then. Makes me think of a amen, what's happening, all those black sitcoms
"William lawrence francis cullen the 1st host of the price is right the legendary game-show host & panelist professor yes n no himself bill-cullen"🇮🇪🇺🇸.
"This isThe $25,000 Pyramid. Today's special guests are Elaine Joyce and Soupy Sales. Here's your host, Bill Cullen!"
Funkiest game show theme music ever!
Go to the price is right cues- some sexy music there
This and "Chump Change" from Now You See It.
This, Blockbusters (1980) & Now You See It
This song is called "Tuning Up". I used to watch "Pyramid" all the time. (Jan Griffiths).
Bill Cullen was always a professional
What an awesome theme song from the Greatest game show in history!!!!!
I wish they would use this on the new Pyramid. There is just something about this theme combined with the win and the audience applause that's magical!
It WAS planned for the unsold pilot, "The $1,000,000 Pyramid".

Three on a Match was an excellent game show for Bill. It held its own in a tough time slot.
Bill Cullen was quite a prolific game show emcee!!
Thx for posting this version with Bill Cullen showing. Still "The Victors" of game show themes!
R.I.P. Bill Cullen
in the words of bob clayton this is the 25000 dollar pyrmaid
I might have to add this one to my play list.

I just happened to be listening to this on the 30th anniversary of Bill Cullen's death.
I still prefer this one to the current version.
Steve Sykes is
The other one has a lower tone, this is more upbeat.
If you listen closely, the newer song is the same, but backward. (Jan Griffiths).

Best version. The guitar at 0:41 👍

I also prefer this one.
WCBS-TV New York announcer of this picture with the Channel 2 logo in it: "Pyramid, tonight at 7:30."
Agree!
This is "THE $25,000 PYRAMID"!
That bassline is happening!
The remedy by Jason mraz uses a very similar bassline.
Hosted from 1974-78 win 1 round try for 10,000 win twice try for the grand total 25,000
"This is the $25,000 pyramid with today's special guests elaine-joyce & from the electric-company skip-hinnant & your host is bill-cullen" 🇮🇪🇺🇸.

Anyone have a copy of the music heard on the 1970s Ohio Lottery show? One piece sounds similar to this theme.
"William lawrence francis cullen the 1st host of the price is right the legendary game-show host & panelist professor yes n no himself bill-cullen"🇮🇪🇺🇸.
Would it be possible to make one of those 10-hour versions, like they've done with TNG space noise, or fireplaces?
