Dick Clark is the King of Pyramid, the late Bill Cullen-The Dean of Game Shows did an awesome job as usual. John Davidson and Donny Osmond's had their flaws, but Osmond was a pretty good host, even though I'm not a fan of his. His version had too many strict judges and confusing rules and John Davidson was WAY out of place, the best part about the CBS 80's version of Pyramid was the AWESOME 21-21 Tiebreaker for $5000 and of course the 7-11 & Mystery 7 Bonuses as well, God Bless Bob Stewart

They should have used this version of the theme for the new Pyramid that Mike Richards hosted on GSN, as a tribute to Dick Clark, I think Dick would have wanted it that way probably. RIP Dick, we sure do miss you.
From what I'd read, they DID use this music when they were taping the show, but for some reason, they overdubbed all the episodes in post with the theme we heard on the air.
Or backwards, lol. nonetheless i like both the original "Tuning up" its in my Game show mp3 collection. However this however this one has a special place in my heart. And probably in the hearts of Michael Strahan and the people at Sony that chose a remix of this version.
I used to get up early and watch cartoons with my brother till he had to go to school. After that cartoons would go off and then it was game shows all morning until midday when Soap Operas would come on. Rod Roddy was the announcer for just about every single gameshow that was on in the morning. If I think back long and hard enough I can picture the old wood console tv with the two brass pull handles on the front. Such a great time growing up in the 80's like that. It actually makes me wish I could go back for just 1 summer and relive all of that again.
THis is a better song than 99% of the garbage on the radio today. This may also be one of the most catchy songs/themes in american pop culture history IMO.

Daniel Miley the Clark version, at CBS was one of the best produced best constructed game shows ever. Strahan's is nice too but i would revive the 7-11 and the 21 21 bonus and ABC should have a regular season sweeps ( in November, February or May) week of Top 10 all time Winners Circle Champs either top money winners or fastest players (living winners from Clark/Cullen/Davidson and Osmond and Richards eras plus Strahans biggest winners) in a true best of the best Million Dollar Pyramid Tournament.
Now I know they have the ABC version, but, if they can do a syndication version, and maybe CBS or an independent could pick it up, here’s how I’d picture it. They should have used this version of the theme for the new Pyramid that Mike Richards hosted on GSN, as a tribute to Dick Clark, I think Dick would have wanted it that way probably. RIP Dick, we sure do miss you.
From what I'd read, they DID use this music when they were taping the show, but for some reason, they overdubbed all the episodes in post with the theme we heard on the air.
Some people on the internet just don't know any better than to say stupid things that aren't true. Ignore them, they don't matter.
I have nothing against this theme, but it sounds like the original theme played sideways.
Or backwards, lol. nonetheless i like both the original "Tuning up" its in my Game show mp3 collection. However this however this one has a special place in my heart. And probably in the hearts of Michael Strahan and the people at Sony that chose a remix of this version.
I like this theme, but the 70s version is still the best.
Ken Aldin wrote Tuning Up & composed the 70's version. While Bob Cobert composed the '80s version.

I used to get up early and watch cartoons with my brother till he had to go to school. After that cartoons would go off and then it was game shows all morning until midday when Soap Operas would come on. Rod Roddy was the announcer for just about every single gameshow that was on in the morning. If I think back long and hard enough I can picture the old wood console tv with the two brass pull handles on the front. Such a great time growing up in the 80's like that. It actually makes me wish I could go back for just 1 summer and relive all of that again.
THis is a better song than 99% of the garbage on the radio today. This may also be one of the most catchy songs/themes in american pop culture history IMO.

Daniel Miley the Clark version, at CBS was one of the best produced best constructed game shows ever. Strahan's is nice too but i would revive the 7-11 and the 21 21 bonus and ABC should have a regular season sweeps ( in November, February or May) week of Top 10 all time Winners Circle Champs either top money winners or fastest players (living winners from Clark/Cullen/Davidson and Osmond and Richards eras plus Strahans biggest winners) in a true best of the best Million Dollar Pyramid Tournament.
