The joke about your cousin telling you to take him in a suitcase was hilarious. Reminded me of the time my Indian cousins asked for me to bring them with me to Africa if only because they thought Africa is all forest.
Might as well be bro, im in "developed" south Africa and we got no lights n water most of the time...plus our sewer systems dont work no more coz of load shedding and everything is over flowing in2 the floodwater drains (leads to the sea) 😯
Honestly, when you talked about the whole 'African ≠ African American ≠ Black' thing, it made me realize something. It's all Americans. Americans have this really weird relationship with their identity and always try to relate to their ancestors' roots, without really realizing how different they are from them
the same with all the white Americans, they are so corny especially with their whole talk about race purity ...my g Americans are everything but pure they are the most deluded races of all thats why they have to clammer on to skin colors because nothing else is distinct about and even that makes no sense because they seperate it from asians and hispanics who mostly have the same skin color
It's because people here are desperate to belong, and we still have a lot of petty tension between races and other groups. It'll eventually get better, but it's gonna be rough for a while.
Fr, see it all the time from Americans of Mexican origin. Some try so hard to come off Mexican that it’s embarrassing and just a persona than just accept they’re people who have a heritage from Mexico.
I am white, born in central Europe. Black Panther is one of my fav heroes. Superheroes were born from mythology, telling universal stories for everyone who listens. This should unite us an not divide.
I don't understand why people don't understand this.its simple superhero stories not true stories or Identity shit like people today make it.just enjoy your hero and ride on.
Exactly! I didn't grow up watching DBZ because I related to their skin color because 1. I'm not white and 2. It's a Japanese cartoon. I watched it because Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo were badass and I wanted to be like them lol. They were all about honor and having pride in yourself but they weren't perfect. Vegeta and Piccolo did some horrible things but even back then, when I was 6 or 7, I could see they weren't terrible people, even though they did some terrible things, because the story telling was great. Goku showed me what's it's like to be a good person and to have mercy on those who do shitty things because they may not always be shitty people (obviously cold hearted murder and other atrocities are bad, I'm moreso talking about bullies). Those morals stuck with me even today as an adult.
Dude, the best thing you can do is reject "white". You're not white, you're not even "European", you are whatever your culture/ethnicity is. For example (not saying this is yours), you're Hungarian, etc. Giving into the totalizing homogenizing reductive ethnic-erasing color-based descriptions "black" "white" "yellow" "brown" "red" is a road that leads to race-based conflict and dehumanization.
The sheer _confidence_ in how she stated such an absurd "show your faith" astounds me. Like, this is how hard some are being taken advantage of, that people like her _know_ they can manipulate them via their desire to be "one of the good whites." Best part is, anyone who _actually_ did buy tickets and give them to poor black families would get laughed at or accused of profiling them. It's horrible, and yet these people know they can pull strings and say "dance, whitey, dance" with no repercussions. God, I'm glad to be half taco.
That’s why, although I still vote for candidates who I think will be good for our society in terms of bringing about positive change regarding race relations and other social justice issues, I’ve largely left “the movement”. Yeah, the fact that I’m white means I will never know what facing institutionalized racism feels like and I shouldn’t be trying to talk about things I’m not qualified to talk about. You don’t need to be any skin color in order to study racism in society and learn about how it works, where it comes from, and how to create solutions to it, something that would therefore make you qualified to talk A LOT about race, and yet within “the movement” you get utterly mocked for even suggesting that a white person could have any valuable insight whatsoever. You’re told in no uncertain terms to sit down and shut up, at least in the parts of the movement I found myself in. I as a white person am not qualified to talk about what experiencing racism feels like. I as someone who has studied social psychology and knows a thing or two about effective activism, am qualified to point out when there’s a problem with the way the movement is trying to go about achieving social justice. And that doesn’t mean I’m right about everything or even that I’m right about anything. Being qualified to speak about something simply means that I have enough knowledge and life experience to contribute something to the conversation about a cause I care about, and that my points, if wrong, deserve to be taken down with evidence and reasoning, not just discarded because “lol, shut it whitey”. You could be desperately trying to warn everyone “Guys! Guys! The rocket is upside down in the silo! This mission to the moon is about to straight to the Earth’s core! We need to get the rocket upright!” and as long as you’re white, all the “experts” in the room around you will, at best, say “uhhh you’re not a rocket scientist, you’re just an engineer so shut up” and at worst say “This guy doesn’t want us to go to the moon! He thinks we don’t DESERVE to go to the moon! That piece of shit! Kick him out!” And it’s even worse when the other white people in the room just sit there and nod their heads because they don’t see anything wrong with the fact that they’re being told to sit down, shut up, and outsource all their critical thinking to the other people in the movement. They don’t even learn their lesson the 5th time that they retweet something an alleged black person said to win their pointless Twitter wars because “listen to POC” only for it to come out that the alleged black person was actually some alt-right white guy in his basement pretending to be black so his words would automatically mean something. That’s not enough for them to realize that there’s nothing a liar loves more than an infallible source of truth. No one’s going to make me dance for them. I’ve accepted the fact that speaking my mind when I feel it needs to be spoken isn’t popular right now, and I am fine with that.
Bout damn time…. nah I’m playing bro, this shit is disgusting fr man keep your head up and stay away from the “Woke”! We want EQUALITY not a upper edge!
As a 40% french, 10% irish, 10% german, 30% canadian, 5% REDACTED, 1% mesopotamian, 4% microbacteria, i quite like your videos and your thoughts on these various social subjects from your own perspective. Thanks.
I’m Ashkenazi Jewish and born and raised in the US. This whole obsession with race is something, I think, Americans really need to stop since it’s creating so many weird divides that don’t need to exist. Despite me being super pale, I’ve been told I’m not white because I’m Ashkenazi. I’ve had family members experience similar things, too. Yes, we are mixed European and Levantine, but we’ve been in Europe for longer than Christianity itself has. Beyond that, not all people look the same and I think Americans tend to think of certain ethnic and racial groups as hive-minds or something. Like my grandpa looks like he came straight out of Qatar or Iraq, but in reality, he’s just a Jewish man from Southern Ukraine. My grandmother happens to look like most Europeans, but she like him, is also fully Jewish, too, and she also happens to be from Ukraine. What’s even funnier is some people have told me that this makes me “other” like somehow my family is so diverse in appearances that there is simply no racial category that fits me, but there are ones that fit everyone else-of course. Perhaps instead of trying to fit everyone in categories, we should work to understand and respect our differences. It’s how we can have movies about so many different cultures and still respect them regardless.
Seriously, there's a weird obsession with race in Murica. Always has been sadly, but maybe a few more generations can get their shit together. Probably not though.
East Asians are called Asians and Sub Saharan Africans are called Africans. North Africans / Middle Easterners are Middle Eastern. For example, I’m Syrian and Ghanaian. I would be African and Middle Eastern. You are Egyptian, you would be Middle Eastern.
If you’re a modern Egyptian you have Arabic roots due to the Arab conquest if you’re an ancient Egyptian you have African roots similarly to Nubia. There’s your answer
I'm filipina american but the suitcase thing is so relatable hahahha also I really appreciate how not only are your videos really well made and written, but they also avoid spoilers for fools like me who are forever behind
@@NasuPrime Well, its a story about Africans. Black American representation came in the form of Kilmonger and Riri Williams. So yes it's not black enough for Americans. It's black enough for Africans
I think it’s silly to gatekeep movies. Everybody can enjoy the new Black Panther movie, and everyone can learn a little something about grief healing and family values from it. I’ve seen it once and I will definitely see it again
Silly? It’s downright insane. Our country has lost its sanity. For that girl to make a video telling white people not to see the movie and block the entrance is INSANE. We have normalized crazy and stupid and you are seeing the effects in real time. Also, movies are for everyone. If I made a film I would want everyone to see it. Wouldn’t you want the same?
Ironically, the story you mentioned about the cop pulling someone over happened to my neighbour. His wife is Black American and while vmhe was Iver there once, he was pulled over by a cop and he said the cop's whole attitude changed when he heard his Nigerian accent and the fact that he was a visitor, not a resident.
TFW systematic racism and oppression only applies to residents, because otherwise the precinct has to deal with international charges and can’t just blame it on the resident.
I needed this video so bad. As a black person dealing with a black family that hates white people and have the exact mindset of that TikTok, thank you for making some sense. You got yourself a new subscriber.
God damm, I wish the best, and yes, as a non American I can tell you, being black, Black Americans and Africans (there's like what, 50 goddamm countries in Africa, no fucking way all those countries are similar) are completely different, our only common traits is that we are all black, that's it, you will be surprised how many Americans thinks alike, regardless of color
You're not the only Black person with common sense. I swear Social Media is cancerous to us Minorities because this "SJW" stuff makes our communities kill each other and adopt self-destructive mindests like discussed in the vid.
I think instead making a broad statement that your family hates White ppl you should try to explore their feelings as to why that maybe the case. What happened to your family in the past that may influence them to feel that way.
@@Alex-kc7tp I’m serious bc I know how it feels to grow up in a Black American family that hates White people for no obvious reason. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that my mother told me that her father was lynched by White people. That event devastated my mother’s family and forever changed how she felt about them. White Americans take no responsibility for their actions or how their actions and policies impacted Black American descendants of Chattel Slavery. We’re told to get over it but they don’t say stuff like that no other group of people. Until there’s justice and reparations there will always be distrust between our people.
I totally agree. I’m a Filipino-Puerto Rican and the most representation I’ve ever gotten was Neon in Valorant. But I love seeing other cultures getting represented on the big screen. One day it’ll be our turn too and I’m truly happy for everyone who can look up to a superhero and say “yeah, I relate to them”!
That's nice. I hope you get yours too. In the meantime, Philippines probably never noticed their representation in black entertainment because most would come and identify as "black" to the mainstream pop culture there. Like Amerie or Cassie Ventura. Ryan Destiny is partial Indian too but NEVER advertises that part of her ancestry.
Bro that Namor introduction in the beginning was terrifying. Just a flying silhouette with lightning flashes behind him. The siren singing with hypnosis making people fall to their deaths is crazy.
What i find weird as an european, is how a lot of black americans(and white american neoliberals) gatekeep “the culture”. You can’t like this or you can’t wear that or eat a specific dish etc., cuz you’re not black. Here it’s very different. In my friend group, we are happy if we can enjoy things together from each other’s culture, be it arabic, european, african, whatever.
This was such an amazing video, I'm an African lad from Zambia. Loved seeing you objectively deconstruct people's ideas of the "black" conundrum. You got yourself a sub.
A lot of these videos tend to focus on the stupidity of the videos they’re calling out (which is fine, but gets tiresome), but this video actually brings up some interesting ideas and only uses the video it’s responding to to spark a different discussion. Subbed!
Exactly! I love using something contentious as a jumping point for a bigger discussion in my videos. I find it far more productive and interesting than just tearing into something or someone that the masses already dislike for X amount of minutes. Glad you noticed
Im African-American. My desendants came from africa but were forced here into America. 250 or so years after that, Im so far removed from the African culture thats its foreign to me. Even if I was given the choice to go back to Africa and learn the culture, I wouldnt. I'd like to experience it in a vacation sort of way but Im quite happy with the life I live. And I think thats why alot of black people liked Black Panther. Its a fun side attraction that has a deeper meaning but only if you want it to.
Pretty sure This is because I’m white and from England, but have never known about the African American and African thing. You learn something everyday.
I heard an English youtuber who was born in Zimbabwe say in the UK classism is the divide while in America its racism. Would you agree or disagree with that?
@@JamesSmith-ny2gb North and South America. Don't try this with me, lmao. I passed geography. The Mayan civilization existed before Mexico was even considered a nation.
wouldnt they still be considered mexican though? Some of the scenes took place in Mexico. And I understand there are indigenous people in Mexico that dont consider themselves mexican.
@RamenRolls No, they wouldn't be considered Mexican because there aren't Mexican citizens, they are 400+ year old Mayan mutants that never assimilated to colonialism.
Military prevents me from downloading TikTok due to Chinese data stealing, so I never see stuff like that. Good to know about the perspective some people take on the movie, as well as counter-points like the ones you made. Overall, an insightful video, and I hope we can get to the point where we watch movies without sending political messages :/ love your stuff bro, glad you’re getting sponsorships
@@NasuPrime I doubt we'll ever get a form of media that doesn't have an agenda, movies have been used that way since their creation. It's why most military oriented movies had the military succeed in almost every way against their enemies.
@@cloberlobster2276 true. Maybe the only reason it seems so bad right now is just because of how intensely divided our society is on so many topics. Or maybe I just want to return to childhood days where the quality of a movie was dependent on loud goofy behavior😆
I remember one of my friends said I couldn’t dress up as spiderman because Im mexican. and now that into the spiderverse is the biggest movie for marvel and the interview with stan lee saying I gave spiderman a mask so anyone can be him really makes me feel good. Idk why we have this ideology that if the guy on screen doesn’t look like me I can’t relate. Black panther was and had always been my favorite Avenger before the movie. and nobody felt like that before. anyways Rest in Power stan lee and jack Kirby thank you for seeing the greatness in humanity
I'm also African as well ( in addition to being Muslim like you). I'm Ghanaian and I take it from the paternal side of my family. Although I was born in the U.S. I was raised in Ghana for almost 11 years. I do get the distinction from Black and African. Black people are essentially just Africans who were strayed away from their home countries to whereas Africans are the native people who belong to the continent of Africa. A good example is Eric Killmonger. He's Black and African. He embraces both sides of being an African American and a Wakandan. I don't really think we should separate Black people from Africans cause IMO we're all the same.
@@jamalakinade8175 nah. If we going to war over anything is gonna be over jollof. We’d beef over the World Cup but Ghana got knocked out in groups and Naija didn’t even qualify 🙃
I am a light skinned Nigerian, my great grandma was white and had black kids and does black kids had black kids but my black parents had me a white kid(me),I live in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and I get racist massages from black Americans calling me slave maker and stuff like that even asking me if I have ever seen what in Africa. I once got a dm by this black American guy and he began to make fun of everything African, saying we couldn't afford food and water and the we were all poor.I told my mom and these insults coming from this black American (p.s my mom is black) and she said I should tell him that at least I knew my dad and I did,and immediately I told this guy what my mom asked me to say he called me racist cus I am white. I recently asked my friend what they think about black American being racist and almost all of them gave me the same results, stating that they have been Insulted by black Americans for living In Africa, black people can be racist and I hope everyone gets this, racism doesn't apply to only does whose ancestors where salves ,as a light skinned African I found that black Americans treat me like trash, please this needs to stop.(African Americans are not black Americans cus Africans love Africans)
As a man who is “black” and “African” with my father being from Ghana and my mother from the U.S. this video hit different. And Im glad you actually spoke on this topic. You definitely earned my subscription
Love your channel man, im a Mozambican and the part of the suitcase had be packed out laughing because it’s so true. And it’s also really refreshing to see a perspective on the films from another person living in an African country because there aren’t enough besides from people who think Africa is either poor and hungry children or doing just fine or just doesn’t exist
as someone who's lived in nigeria their entire life, that joke about your cousins is literally me people over here def look at america w rose-tinted glasses. it's kinda annoying, our experience of america is through hiphop, the nba, black movies while their experience of us (pre-black panther) was poor, starving children i never really saw myself as black until i started engaging with hiphop and other aspects of african american culture, it even made me appreciate nigerian culture more and develop a sense of pan-africanism i hate the idea of separating african americans from africans because we're ALL black and have the same enemy, anti-blackness, in any form it may appear
As Hispanic I honestly felt pretty hyped everytime Namor and his peps came on screen , I never really understood why people cared if there culture was portrayed in media I always just watched it as any movie and when they went out of there way to make it a big deal it always came off as corny to me, but while I was watching the movie it clicked in my brain like holy shit it’s cool af to see a people I share ancestry with in a movie. I still think it’s corny of done wrong and a lot of Hollywood rn abuses tf outta it to make themselves feel better but honestly I thought wakanda forever did a fun job , I didn’t get hyped over the wakanda stuff as much but I kinda understand what if would feel like through Namor and his Hispanic Native American inspired culture…plus Aztecs just look fucking cool man
The point of showing different perspectives on the big screen is to increase diversity of thought. To allow different voices on the stand. If you're actively attempting to bar people from getting that perspective on the weekend they will most likely go see the movie, get that perspective, you're actively silencing that voice. You're actively attempting to create an echo chamber and trying to get other people to not listen or appreciate. It makes me legitimately wonder what the world is coming to. When did we go from "I have a dream..." to "Know your place, melaninless." What a headass take. Even if it's a "joke," it's still an idea immature people will latch onto and think is a healthy way to think. How is barring people from getting a broader idea on life in a form they can digest healthy? Haven't we already seen what happens when one group actively attempts to keep another from becoming more intelligent/worldly? Thought we've been trying to get away from that for 50+ years. Guess I'm the idiot. Of course, good video either way, I appreciate that there is agreement on what is healthy for humanity between people of so many different backgrounds. It gives me hope that the world isn't going all the way to hell.
Yoooo just noticed the Nujabes in the background. Thought nobody cared about my mans. Anyways fantastic video, blew me away to see less than 1 million subscribers. You’ll get there soon brother.
I'm of Indian origin, but was born and raised in South Africa - so were my parents - and I consider myself South African. Since it's in Africa, guess I'm African. And considering that during Apartheid all non-white citizens were considered 'black', this kind of created a unity between other races that fell between the white and black distinctions. On the issue of the first BP, I actually liked it for several reasons despite it's flaws. I know it perpetuates some cultural stereotypes, but goodness, is it the kind of movie Africans needed, because there's no unity between African countries. I'm sure the Killmonger and Panther scene at the end of the film resonated with all non-whites especially who experienced or at least felt the lasting impact of the Apartheid regime. Dare I say, I empathised far more with Killmonger's stance and his cry for unity more so than I did Panther's due to my country's history alone. With that said, all kinds of people - regardless of race/background/religion/all that - are allowed to enjoy the movie.
Stop lying there was a distinction between black people, Indian people and colored people. The tier was triangle shaped and it went like this-white on top, Indian below white, then colored and finally at the bottom Were black people. The one drop rule was never used in south africa unlike the usa
BS. Gandhi and many Indians were used to oppress blacks all over Africa dtop making this stuff up like you guys were our allies YOU WERENT. I have nothing agaisnt South Asians hell I have dated some of you lot but don’t act like you guys as a group like us just stop
as a indigenous filipino who grew up in Canada. I thought the movie was way more about colonization then anything else. It was amazing to see the references to indigenous cultures in africa and of course the americas. The issue of colonization is for absolutely everyone every culture was affected in some way as the colonizer and the colonized.
As a black american, i think white people should turn out in numbers to support all black media that isnt about black pain and trauma. Them slave movies is gettin old and if we use money to tell Hollywood we want more of this, theyll give us more
I held off on watching this at first because I can't stand spoilers, but somehow you made a video 14 minutes long and I only count 1 spoiler. Well done. It's cool hearing you speak from a background that most of us can't relate to. A quote comes to mind after hearing the lady at 1:35. "When you see someone shining, don't hate. Do not tear that individual down. Celebrate their success as if it were your own because whether you realize it or not, we rise and fall together."
Just watched BP:WF yesterday and yeah, my brother & I have had this discussion before. Being South Africans (but not "black"), it's always interesting having conversations regarding how the first Black Panther film brought topics like diaspora and race to the forefront. And for that, I can always appreciate it on that level. Even considering how plenty of people had issues with the first movie's soundtrack being spearheaded by solely African American talents... Still slaps
This makes me realize how much black Americans and Latinos have in common. Lots of us have a great amount of indigenous ancestry but because of forced assimilation we don't know who our ancestors really are. That will lead to the same problem that black Americans have in that we try to claim our indigenous roots without really knowing how to do that in a respectful way.
Being a child of Haitian immigrants makes this conversation all the more complex. When you’re not quite African-American, and you’re not quite African, but you were born in the states, so you’re not quite Caribbean either - shoot I’ll just call myself an earthling and be done with it. 😂😂😂
Man each of your videos is better than the least, that suitcase shit had me pissing myself, I’m not the first to to say this and I hope I’m not the last but big things are coming your way, you got something special about you and with each day more and more people are seeing it and that makes me happy. Much love my man
Such a cool and unique perspective on this subject. I really enjoyed watching this video and your insight man. Subbed, excited to see what else you make.
Unfortunately it’s an American thing. I’m latino from Latin America and I’m dished down by US born 3rd generation “Latinos” as not knowing their “culture” or what “being a latino” actually is. It infuriates me beyond belief
The begining of the video wasn't ay all what I was expecting, buy it was so well thought out I keot watching and actually learned something and changed my mind about the firat Black Panther movie and the whole politics behind it. I wish there were more dark skinned people using their brains instead of their "color" to construct their arguments and helping their comunities. Nothing but respect for you Nasu. I really hope your channel grows to the size it deserves for all the work you've put into it.
I genuinely didn’t know about a lot of this stuff. Coming into the video expecting comedy, I was refreshingly surprised to come away with extra insight on a topic I know very little about. Thanks Nasu
NUJABES! Brilliant video man, I was thinking about this after seeing it, I didn’t hear a fellow African’s perspective on the film on the internet, and this is really well made. i always thought about what a black American thinks of Africa, the culture and people here. But I am very happy that a film depicting a fictional yet true side and perspective on Africa can be enjoyed and appreciated by people and cultures around the world, at the end of the day I love that Africa can be respected and even loved.

Enjoyed this video a lot bro. I've been binge watching all your videos of recent. My personal favorite being the representation video concerning Spiderman into the spiderverse. I'm cameroonian🇨🇲(both parents) but was born in the US. Lived in Cameroon for about 12 years before coming over. And I do relate a lot with what you just said here about culture. Personally I've always related more with miles morales than i could ever with any character in black panther despite being African. I appreciate a lot from both cultures and find them equally interesting. Im into hip hop culture, rap dance etc. But doesn't mean i can't vibe with african brothers. I find the gatekeeping on both cultures to be ridiculous. As someone who sees the best in both cultures i do believe there's a compromise. Maybe me liking Spiderman into the spiderverse more has to do with me being a comic fan. But i just connected with miles more especially after his movie. Anyways keep up your videos man!
Dude I just got into your content and it's amazing. You're creating an awesome safe space that isn't toxic to anyone, just critical and intelligent. Great stuff!
Glad I subbed. You have some great points and seem like a solid dude! Didn’t realize I was watching your videos until I clicked on your channel. Keep it up man! Thank you.
Excellently worded and thought out, you make really good points. Only wish is more people heard it, understood and took it on board to hopefully make us all better off. But hats off mate and nice video.
Big cat ninja > huge bat ninja. That's why seeing Black Panther in Civil War was love at first sight for me, some dude from the Greek countryside who grew up watching US movies and TV shows. And even though I'm not a "true fan", Wakanda Forever's opening made me tear up 😢
In Greece we have a lot of sun so we are probably more black then most white people but we still consider our selves to be white and something funny about that when I was younger I thought Kanye West was white and the first time I spoke to someone who was as black as Kanye West but had long cornrows as a hair cut i was wondering about if he was black or not and I didn't know if asking about it was fine
I’d also like to say it’s a great way of showing of many African cultures other than west and east. Like I was surprised seeing people talk in isixhosa and seeing my traditional clothes and customs( Sesotho. I think by show chasing the different cultures of Africa, shows how diverse we are ( in the first movie there was even that Afrikaaner). In my opinion I’d also say it could help people find their roots and their culture that not everyone is from west African decent, etc.
I mean I think BP did great because it was a freaking fantastic movie with great direction and even more amazing cast giving the performance of their lives. Side note though, it felt like it was “for me” because I, a woman, saw the most badass female fighters I had ever seen at that point in my life. That was my own personal deeper meaning watching BP.
One thing that I was chewing on for a while now is that the original six avengers to show upon screen weren't considered diverse was because they were all white, and at one point, because you can't really change the skin colour of a forty year old character I had the random thought "what if Black Widow was allowed to be russian for more than two minutes across the entire franchise?" Basically, I realized that nationality is a very real form of diversity, but its harder to get it across, takes more effort, more research to pull off well. And taking into account the individual backgrounds of people of the same nationality? In the world of "fast food" film franchises today you can kiss that concept goodbye. After all, an all black cast isn't really that diverse, same as an all white one, or an all female one compared to an male one. Not even an all Chinese one is particularly diverse either. (According to the rule that diversity is variety is gender and skin colors)
I like your vids, gonna sub and see where it goes... I didn't especially like Black Panther as a movie (Comic book movies just aren't my thing) especially after all the hype and expectations from, EVERYONE, but I did appreciate it for what it achieved especially seeing, EVERYONE, all kinds of people in the theater enjoying and understanding/ relating to it, so I definitely can't say it was bad. I'll catch the sequel if/ when it winds up in front of me.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I especially enjoyed Shuri being the new Black Panther. (If Chadwick had survived cancer, I would have loved him to continue as the character.) I also loved the use of brown people as the Atlantians. It was a totally fresh take on the myth. I was happy to hear little white girls having Wakanda Halloween costumes. It's nice to see the kids enjoying the characters without regard to skin color.
Part of my family is black and the rest white. But I look like neither. In Latin America that is irrelevant, but in Canada... oh boy. Middle Eastern will be nice until they realize you speak Spanish and are Catholic. Likewise I saw black Hispanics being berated in high school because "they aren't black." A teacher just gave a lecture about racism to a white kid, but had no issue with a Dominican kid getting bullied by black Canadians.. but diversity is our strength? Bro it's literally used to put people against one another. People will look at your race and treat you according to a checkbox in North America. It is fucking exhausting. I hate how certain interest groups that get money from the government for "diversity innitiatives" literally only deepen the racial divide. Instead of creating the common ground of being American or Canadian.
Ayo two videos deep and I know subscribing is the right decision. Last video you had MVC2 and now Nujabes while I also agree 100% with you on these topics. I'm sold bro
Absolutely fantastic video, it was incredibly interesting hearing about the ideas of being 'african' being different to being 'black', especially as a white person living in an African country. The idea that the only "black" people are those in America seems completely absurd to me, it would be as if I, white Aussies or Americans claimed those living in Serbia, Germany, Sweden etc. are not actually "white", but only "european" instead. Once again, very interesting to hear your views on these topics!
3:37 We have a big problem of black people trying to discredit other black people by some factor like skin tone , how they grew up or where they from‼️
As iconic as Martin Luther kings speech was, I had no doubt that the wakanda movies spoke a thousand words, on the good side of things rather if you like the movie or not it gave people something to enjoy ALL together. not just black people but whites too, we got together to enjoy it and I think we should rejoice that more, we're all like the egg theory were people on the inside and perfect in our own way,
there is similar divisions in the hispanic community. The most hilarious thing ive heard was a Mexican tell me i wasnt really Mexican because i dont speak Spanish.. a EUROPEAN language.. lmaoo
In my younger years I've boastfully claimed the African of my African American title because despite the differences in culture, I knew I carried the genes and dna of my ancestors who were from the land of Africa. But I met more and more Africans from Africa and they changed my outlook. I was told on numerous occasions in different ways that Africans don't view Black Americans as Africans. I don't have a need to belong, I'm a man of honor and respect. I respected my ancestors therefore I was honored to carry the title of African American. But because of how most of America looks at people of my skin color and ancestry and how the people from Africa have opened my eyes to how they view me, I am just a Black man. Not American, not African, just me. And Black Panther is just another bad MCU movie full of fluff, they've long stopped making decent movies.
I've never heard of using the term Black used only for Americans but I can definitely believe people have done that. I never thought about the difference between Black, African American, and African before so I'm glad you brought it up. It does seem silly to use the term African American when they don't really have ties to that culture. Thanks for telling me + others about this. Learn something knew everyday
I think SOME gatekeeping is absolutely necessary! I say this as an African that was raised in the U.S. Oftentimes what is meant as innocent fun and appreciation for black art turns into theft and complete erasure. It happens in every aspect of black art and in every corner of the black world. Now I agree with you that Black Panther ain't the piece of art that we should use as the hill to die on. For the mere fact it was the creation of a white man, but even with all the black creativity and talent that went into making the movie franchise the beauty that it is, it's still meant for mainstream consumption. But aside from Black Panther, there are plenty examples of why we (the entire diaspora) should actually gatekeep more of our culture to protect it from theft and co-option. Anyone with a basic understanding of Pan-African History knows this much.
Yet you want to gatekeep Pan-African history you gotta be fine people gatekeeping what they love too. I'm down to close some castle gates yet there can't be mockery to others wanting to do it too.
Let me say first, that I disagree with the TikTok because her ideas are pretty excessive. That being said, I can't look past the fact that Nasu is ignoring the part where white people often steal black culture and act like it's their own. The things often touted as "American" culture are often created by black people, then they are copied and whitewashed and white people profit from it. People aren't willing to give credit where it's due, so I can understand some wanting to take a more radical approach of actively gatekeeping culture, because being passive hasn't done anything. They're tired of seeing the same people who deny them jobs and kill people who look like them with no remorse, proceed to turn around and profit off of their culture. As a final note, I'll just leave this quote from Eminem. From "Without Me" No, I'm not the first king of controversy I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley To do Black music so selfishly And used it to get myself wealthy
@@jnyerere I WANT to look past it, because I know all white people aren't evil, however when I bring up the idea of culture being stolen to a white person, they get SUPER defensive. Plus ignoring blatant problems because it "makes them uncomfortable" is exactly what they want us to do. It's like: "Hey, can you stop complaining about me making a profit off your stories about living in poverty? It makes me uncomfortable." "Oh, sorry my cries for help made you uncomfortable. Here, I'll just suffer in silence and create more stuff for you to take like wool from a sheep."
This vid is not only educative but funny as well. As for the all those cringe people it's just best to tell them that movies are for everyone and not one specific groups depending on the story it's trying to tell. This was a very fun joyride, and very hilarious at the same time.
I'm a North American who happens to have German, Lithuanian, Korean, & possible Native American ancestry. Born and raised in North Texas. I have always told when asked that I am American! Not saying I'm Korean-American because I need to identify myself. Or my sarcastic side comes out and I just say I'm human when people keep asking where I'm originally from... Smh lol
To be fair, terms like black and white are just labels given to make it easier to describe people. Technically, it would make more sense to describe people as having dark skin or light skin because that's more accurate than saying black or white.
The way that North America and Europe perceive skin color never made sense to me. I'm brazilian. When I look at my skin, I see a white person. I have never been discriminated against because of my skin color in my whole life. But it seems that, from a North-American perspective, I'm not white... even though my skin color looks pretty white to me. The idea that being asian and being white, or being african and being black, are mutually exclusive things is just mind-boggling to me.
as a german the obsession about skin color specifically way more of an American thing i really cannot think about anything that brag about skin color specifically that didnt come from Americans
Personally, the reason I loved BP was because of how bad ass Panther-Man was, seeing and hearing the "are you gonna be like your brother or be like me?" moment is what made Wakanda Forever equal to or more for me.
The joke about your cousin telling you to take him in a suitcase was hilarious. Reminded me of the time my Indian cousins asked for me to bring them with me to Africa if only because they thought Africa is all forest.

THIS!!..
I guess when most of those ties were erased and muddied they tried to cling to the first thing that seemed to make sense.
The real reason why BP made a billion dollars, was because everyone thought he was badass in civil war.
And Wakanda Forever was a generally good movie by Ryan Coogler. I forgot it was an MCU movie until the end with the bad CGI

Like, this is how hard some are being taken advantage of, that people like her _know_ they can manipulate them via their desire to be "one of the good whites."
Best part is, anyone who _actually_ did buy tickets and give them to poor black families would get laughed at or accused of profiling them. It's horrible, and yet these people know they can pull strings and say "dance, whitey, dance" with no repercussions.

With that said, all kinds of people - regardless of race/background/religion/all that - are allowed to enjoy the movie.

bro we support good movies, if the movie is bad we won't go see it. and as it stands, Hollywood doesn't seem to want to make good movies
Celebrate their success as if it were your own because whether you realize it or not, we rise and fall together."
just found your channel a hour ago. love the videos
Ty!
Still slaps
It’s an American movie, why wouldn’t the soundtrack feature predominantly American musicians?
This makes me realize how much black Americans and Latinos have in common. Lots of us have a great amount of indigenous ancestry but because of forced assimilation we don't know who our ancestors really are. That will lead to the same problem that black Americans have in that we try to claim our indigenous roots without really knowing how to do that in a respectful way.
Very true
Being a child of Haitian immigrants makes this conversation all the more complex. When you’re not quite African-American, and you’re not quite African, but you were born in the states, so you’re not quite Caribbean either - shoot I’ll just call myself an earthling and be done with it. 😂😂😂
Bro I've seen MFs say Haitians are latinos
Man each of your videos is better than the least, that suitcase shit had me pissing myself, I’m not the first to to say this and I hope I’m not the last but big things are coming your way, you got something special about you and with each day more and more people are seeing it and that makes me happy. Much love my man
First, I just wanna say to Nasu I'm a big fan of urs. I hope more content is coming. Thank you
as an 100% FISHERMAN descendant i approve of your message
God bless you for using Nujabes music in the vid, youre a legend
Thank you!
What you mean by “dark skinned people” 🤨
Im obviously joking
Wait what ? You wish more black ppl use their brain and not their color ? Wtf does that mean ?
I'm a cracker and I just wanna see the movie because it has a superhero I like
Na bro, dont call yourself a cracker
Yeh man don't shame yourself (black, white, asian, Latino) don't do that.
@@kingleothesomethingsomethi285 Who cares, Im Mixed I'm a mutt, I'm Mexican I'm a greaser, I'm Black I'm a coon. Let people joke about themselves, it's helps us lessen the sting.
🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
And even though I'm not a "true fan", Wakanda Forever's opening made me tear up 😢
Rip Chadwick
Rest in peace ☮️
In Greece we have a lot of sun so we are probably more black then most white people but we still consider our selves to be white and something funny about that when I was younger I thought Kanye West was white and the first time I spoke to someone who was as black as Kanye West but had long cornrows as a hair cut i was wondering about if he was black or not and I didn't know if asking about it was fine
Lol
Now you know damnwell
I’d also like to say it’s a great way of showing of many African cultures other than west and east. Like I was surprised seeing people talk in isixhosa and seeing my traditional clothes and customs( Sesotho. I think by show chasing the different cultures of Africa, shows how diverse we are ( in the first movie there was even that Afrikaaner). In my opinion I’d also say it could help people find their roots and their culture that not everyone is from west African decent, etc.
Legit wish I could 1,000,000 thumbs up you, your message, your desire to have temperance. Love you. One person to another. Keep on keep'n.
Blazo! Nothing to do with the video but I'm glad to hear his music in your videos. Keep it up and continue to use his great music!
One thing that I was chewing on for a while now is that the original six avengers to show upon screen weren't considered diverse was because they were all white, and at one point, because you can't really change the skin colour of a forty year old character I had the random thought "what if Black Widow was allowed to be russian for more than two minutes across the entire franchise?"
Basically, I realized that nationality is a very real form of diversity, but its harder to get it across, takes more effort, more research to pull off well.
My favorite TH-camr tbh. So underrated bro keep doing your shit
Interesting video, it make me see the first movie in a new light.
Black is black to me we all got the same problems, great vid 👌🏾
Ayo two videos deep and I know subscribing is the right decision. Last video you had MVC2 and now Nujabes while I also agree 100% with you on these topics. I'm sold bro
Nasu you're a national treasure and should be protected at all costs
Great video man, also fire music taste for playing Nujabes!
I'm black and I'm not interested in the movie anyway lmfao
Absolutely fantastic video, it was incredibly interesting hearing about the ideas of being 'african' being different to being 'black', especially as a white person living in an African country. The idea that the only "black" people are those in America seems completely absurd to me, it would be as if I, white Aussies or Americans claimed those living in Serbia, Germany, Sweden etc. are not actually "white", but only "european" instead.
Once again, very interesting to hear your views on these topics!
3:37 We have a big problem of black people trying to discredit other black people by some factor like skin tone , how they grew up or where they from‼️
This video is excellent already, Nujabes in the background made it 10 times better, really dig ur style man
Thanks Vergil
Most of the world just views you as American and that's the way it should be, we all should be considered American despite our color.
From "Without Me"
No, I'm not the first king of controversy
I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley
To do Black music so selfishly
And used it to get myself wealthy
@@prestigeblue 💯💯💯
@@jnyerere I WANT to look past it, because I know all white people aren't evil, however when I bring up the idea of culture being stolen to a white person, they get SUPER defensive. Plus ignoring blatant problems because it "makes them uncomfortable" is exactly what they want us to do.
It's like: "Hey, can you stop complaining about me making a profit off your stories about living in poverty? It makes me uncomfortable."
"Oh, sorry my cries for help made you uncomfortable.
This is your best video for sure you were preaching something important here for the people
Appreciate that!
6:10 the song that plays is “Mary et Jeff” by the band Cortex from their 1975 album “Troupeau Bleu”
im still amazed that you dont have more subs, cause you just be droppin the best takes on youtube. seriously, keep makin this awesome content!
My family bought out the whole theatre the day it released (we are 20% polish 35% Russian and 45% French)
this is the conversations i want to actually have with my community.
Yeah. I look at my skin and think.... that is not white lmao
2:00 You demand all of this for a super hero movie?
The way that North America and Europe perceive skin color never made sense to me. I'm brazilian. When I look at my skin, I see a white person. I have never been discriminated against because of my skin color in my whole life. But it seems that, from a North-American perspective, I'm not white... even though my skin color looks pretty white to me.
The idea that being asian and being white, or being african and being black, are mutually exclusive things is just mind-boggling to me.
as a german the obsession about skin color specifically way more of an American thing i really cannot think about anything that brag about skin color specifically that didnt come from Americans
I just discovered your channel and it is incredibly good one of the many hidden gems on youtube
It's a funny coincidence you have Brilliant as your sponsor and say you like math. There were tons of Nigerians in the math department at my school.
Doesn’t surprise me tbh. Nigerians the most educated immigrants in the states 💪🏾
Personally, the reason I loved BP was because of how bad ass Panther-Man was, seeing and hearing the "are you gonna be like your brother or be like me?" moment is what made Wakanda Forever equal to or more for me.
Yoh am African but the UNICEF part got me cracked up
gotta love that counting stars in the background 🙏
As a Ghanaian this was so poignant and relatable
Keep up the good work brother
Ghanaian Jollof Rules btw😂
