Nah not gonna lie season 1 was pretty good and better than the books or this. If the books could flesh out their story then maybe it would have been better.
Given season 2 will only have 8 episodes I hope theres enough emotional narrative between the major battles and events like Blood and Cheese, Rook's Rest, The Dragon seeds claiming dragon's and The Battle of the Gullet. Not sure if they'll squeeze in the fall of Kings landing or switch it timeline wise with the Gullet, but im staying optimistic since they've done a good job so far.
My guess is they're going to change the timeline a bit, by ending the season with Rhaenyra taking King's Landing, and pushing the Battle of the Gullet to the start of S3. I feel like that would make sense - End S1 with a loss for Rhaenyra, and end S2 with a victory for her.
Won't happen, Dreamfyre had already laid those eggs before season 2 takes place . If anything they may show eggs being stolen from the dragon pit before it's destoryed .
The Blood and cheese here is much terrifying than the one we got in the show! I think for season 3 and 4, a lot of the stories and scenes in the show won't be as good as the story described here.
I think the writers made it less cruel in order to make the Black look less evil. Since Rhaenyra is treated like the main protagonist and they definitively want a protagonist to root for, instead of an anti-war tragedy about arrogant aristocrats who ruined their world and themselves out of fear and greed. As a matter of fact, reaction to Luke's and Jaehaerys' deaths are treated very differently to make the Black look better. The Black grieve in private as a united family. The Green exhibit their dead heir for propaganda while only the mother and grandmother are present at the procession. Aegon, Aemond and Otto can't seem to be bothered to attend and are busy tearing each other apart. We focus on the Black's grief more and Jaehaerys' murder is quickly forgotten. I find it shocking that a few minutes after witnessing the murder, Helena doesn't even call him by his name, just "the boy". It's as if the directors/writers were embarrassed by this murder and wanted to be quickly done with it, before the audience starts to realize that Rhaenyra's team isn't that nice.
Fucked up blood and cheese, made daemon useless for half the show, and ended the show without her sitting on the throne. Im waiting for S3 clips and only clips.
I’m still amazed why Rhaenyra didn’t do anything when the mob ascended towards the dragon pit and kings landing. Knowing the mobs got worse days before. Letting the mob massacre chained dragons and more important, her own dragon. Horrible reign
I doubt it. They made mention of it when Corliss returned to Dragonstone in the finale. Corliss said his ships were sailing for the step stones and Rhaenys said she would patrol the gullet herself.
This video makes it seem like the war was over after Rhaenyra died. It wasn't. It's worth noting that Aegon was never anymore a king of Westeros than Rhaenyra was its Queen. From the moment Viserys died to the moment Rhaenyra's son was crowned King of Westeros, the country remained embroiled in civil war. The war went on after Rhaenyra died. The lords of the realm refused to accept Aegon as King. Even his own court came to realize this with his own hand of the King even advising him to take the black and join the Nights watch. Naturally, he refused and his entire court plotted against him as the armies of Westeros descended upon the capital to dethrone him.
Aegon II is acknowledged and remembered as the 6th legitimate official Monarch of Westeros even though his reign is by far the worst out of the 17 Targaryen Kings
@nicksmithnutmilk Aegon IV was responsible for the Blackfyre Rebellions which almost ended the Targaryen dynasty several times. Aerys II did what even Aegon IV could which was destroy the Targaryen's 300 rule over Westeros. Aegon II had a lot of flaws but he wasn't as nearly as the two kings I have mentioned.
It made sense to try something different but i was more annoyed by blood and cheese. That scene is supposed to horrify you and to show how much gravitas it would have in starting the war.
@@nostoneunturned7641 adapting the scene as it was written would objectively make the scene better. they toned it down and removed the most memorable part, the part that had people comparing it to the red wedding, they removed the part where the mother had to choose which of her children would die before they taunted the child she picked and killed the other one. that was what made it so much more horrific than just having a child die. the show version is much weaker and less impactful. they even have the mother just get over it and stop caring like 2 episodes later.
@@arobin6695 Not bothered at all by that small detail, the scene portayed it very decent, also the mother is insane so why should she show normal behaviour according to you?
Honestly it's becoming increasingly clear that the dance was largely inevitable one Viserys remarried and refused to change his mind about his heir. Aegon himself said that he had roughly two decades to change his mind and did not. It is starting to seem that there is a limit to how many Targaryens can be active at the same time. Too few and the house is vulnerable to extinction, but too many and you get armed conflict. I will say it is easy to forget that no matter how much you might like a character, in this setting, bastardy is serious business and not so easily overlooked. It does suck that the children have to bear the burden of their parents indiscretions, but that is ASOIAF.
Even if Rhaenyra got to be qween you could have another successtion crisis with Jacearys later. With the green children and grandchildren all having dragons plus Daemons sons Aegon and Viserys. The Targaryan were always going to have a massive civil war with their dragons.
The music behind Rhaenyra's ascension and Bobby B's monologue is just perfect. Gods how i wish the show had the guts to show the atrocities committed and not the stupid romance they introduced about Alicent and Rhaenyra.
It's better than HBO series becouse they didn't change anything... All changes were just becouse of lack of information. We have accurate Aegon II banner (Balck field) and crown, Corlys not blackwashed becouse they "didn't want another bunch of white people on screen" , Aemond killing Lucerys willingly, Helaena crying for her child's death...
For all that don’t know. Obviously the book explains more. When king Aegon II went missing after Raenyra and daemon flew to kingslanding, he snuck away to dragonstone which he took. While there he took Baela captive which she managed to escape and a huge fight between her and broken Aegon as well as his battle damaged Sunfyre. Baela is the REAL hero.
I can see it from both sides. I definitely didn't want the dragons to die. Technically they just had to kill their riders and set them free. But this show glosses over Aemond's crimes in the Riverlands for brevity. There was barely a town he didn't torch. He set the same keep on fire twice and one of those times all of the smallfolk from the surrounding villages were hiding behind it's walls. The smallfolk jumped at a chance to end future suffering 🤷 Very sad, but I reckon the thousands upon thousands of innocent nameless men, women and children being torched for being in the way of a dragon lord's tantrum is far more sad.
@@jessjess23brooks89 Its simular to when deanerys locked up her dragons. We as the viewers want the best for them but forget if we were on the receiving end, we'd ask for their death immidiently
Viserys does realize that he descends from rhaenyra, right? Because if "old king" did change succession in favor of aegon instead of rhaenyra, then rhaenyras line wouldn't inherit the crown and viserys wouldn't have inherited anything ever nor would the mad king or rhaegar
I always thought it was kinda ironic how a ton of Targaryen kings after the Dance are direct descendants of Rhaenyra & Daemon, given how hard the Greens tried denying their line.

@@aswinastro what is my basis that a 19 years old will gain more experience with age ? What a question 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aemond and Daemon are clearly similar, Daemon is that good because of his experiencec saying Aemond might gain ecperience is nothing crazy.
You just don’t like the fact that had Aemond lived longer he would have become a more capable person and surpassed his stupid dragon at least in a dragon fighy.

I love how it's Shireen reads the epilogue. She was the one to mention and to have read the Dance in the series.
Ironic how they have Joffrey narrating the death of Rhaenyra when he’s the one that mentioned it to Sansa in GOT
He narrated it to Margery not Sansa :)
Yeah! It was to Margery not Sansa! STOOPID!!!! 😆🤣😆🤣😆
that's probably why, each segment is narrated by a relevant GoT character.
The fact he stopped being an actor beacuse of how this role influenced his life will always be a tragedy he has so much talent.
Ironic that they have Joffrey narrate when he has never read a single history book in his life. ig someone told it to him
The war didn't end when Rhaenyra died . It ended when her son Aegon ascended the throne .
Cregan badass Stark killed everyone who could chalenge his reign
@InfamousB7 cregan is a little bit overrated beside his fight with the dragonknight he didn't do anything amazing he was late for the war I know that wasn't his fault but it doesn't change the fact that he came when everything was done then he just killed two people got a blackwood beauty for a wife and went home
It did her son was alive only because ageon let him live
@@know846 you're forgetting that Viserys was alive too. And Aegon II had every intention to off Aegon the younger. He even wanted to castrate him or send him to the wall but his council strongly opposed that . Not to forget that his last order was to send him in pieces to the northern Army, courtesy of good Queen Alicent.
@@InfamousB9 I support Cregans initial plan, to ride to the castles of the treasonous lords (the rock, oldtown, stormlands) and burn it to the ground with those 3 families gone for good. But sadly it didn't work for him.
What he did was punish those who had anything to do with AegonII death. If he really wanted to off the challenge to Aegon the younger, the likes of Tyland Lannister and Alicent Hightower would've been put to the sword. During Aegon's regency, his council was mostly green.
I cannot wait to see this play out on screen. So far its been incredible
These were so good. Every season of GOT ended we were all sad (except seasons 7 and 8) only to be followed by these amazing history and lore videos to make us happy again. So sick the actors from the show agreed to do the voiceovers too.
Yea i was really hoping we'd get some new ones in between seasons of HOTD as well. There's still so much history & lore they could cover.

Given season 2 will only have 8 episodes I hope theres enough emotional narrative between the major battles and events like Blood and Cheese, Rook's Rest, The Dragon seeds claiming dragon's and The Battle of the Gullet. Not sure if they'll squeeze in the fall of Kings landing or switch it timeline wise with the Gullet, but im staying optimistic since they've done a good job so far.
its still the same runtime as season 1 so proabably just longer episodes
WHAT!! OMG NOOOO I HAD IT ALL PLANNED OUT ON HOW IT WAS GOING TO GO TOO!
Nooooo.... Dammit. We know what happens when HBO cuts down episodes. It sacrifices storytelling for extravegent scenes.
My guess is they're going to change the timeline a bit, by ending the season with Rhaenyra taking King's Landing, and pushing the Battle of the Gullet to the start of S3. I feel like that would make sense - End S1 with a loss for Rhaenyra, and end S2 with a victory for her.
gullet is not in season 2 got moved to 3 thats why they cut down to 8 episodes
This version is Way better than House of the Dragon show
This is a better telling of the story than HBO has given us.
I love how Viserys is narrating and agreeing with the greens after every sentence.💚
I LOVE THE VOICES TELLING THIS STORY........HALF THE CAST OF GAME OF THRONES

Dreamfyre is the mother of Daenerys' dragons. Hopefully I show her laying her eggs and Helaena makes some prediction about them.
Won't happen, Dreamfyre had already laid those eggs before season 2 takes place . If anything they may show eggs being stolen from the dragon pit before it's destoryed .
Those eggs have been in Essos for decades by the time of the Dance.
They've shown the eggs after all
This actually confirmed now!
Helena and Aemond look exactly like this in show. Casting is good.

@@BostonsF1nest Yeah no lol The books came first. The shows are based on them. Grow up kid
The Blood and cheese here is much terrifying than the one we got in the show! I think for season 3 and 4, a lot of the stories and scenes in the show won't be as good as the story described here.
And this was adapted by D&D I think .
They didn't to make Rhaneyra look bad. The show is beyond woke

I’m still amazed why Rhaenyra didn’t do anything when the mob ascended towards the dragon pit and kings landing. Knowing the mobs got worse days before. Letting the mob massacre chained dragons and more important, her own dragon. Horrible reign
Rhaenyra "what would you have me do?" Targaryen? Not so surprising tbh. She'd probably still be harping on about how she wanted peace 😂
Really hope the show doesn’t skip over the battle of the gullet like this did
I doubt it. They made mention of it when Corliss returned to Dragonstone in the finale. Corliss said his ships were sailing for the step stones and Rhaenys said she would patrol the gullet herself.

@@gordoncarson5557it is. This is Game of Thrones history and lore. They did a whole library of these when the first series aired.
Nope. He declared her his heir. She's the queen and her son was the king. Extremely cut and dry. End of story

This kind of reductionism is typical for this fanbase nowadays.

@@arobin6695 oh Jesus Christ it was FINE. additional threats made to the children wouldn't have made the scene any better
@@belgamsafn it’s not a small detail. It’s the most horrific memorable part of the scene and the show removed it for no reason.
No other house needs better family planning than House Targaryen.
Nope, maester propaganda. The war was actually about two repressed lesbians and the misunderstandings made by the warmongering evil men around them.
Nonsense
The music behind Rhaenyra's ascension and Bobby B's monologue is just perfect. Gods how i wish the show had the guts to show the atrocities committed and not the stupid romance they introduced about Alicent and Rhaenyra.
Daemon’s words to Aemond were so cold
Caraxes died protecting his rider.
The golden dragon who burned, narrated by the dragon burned by gold. If thats on purpose thats brilliant
Still better Than season 2
It’s incredible how well made this is and how similar it is in retrospect to the hbo series
It's because this was made by HBO and the show runners, to complement the GoT seasons discs.
This clip is far much better than whole HOTD season 1.

Same!
Same. Blaming the dragons directly, idiocy.
Westeros is better off without overgrown, fire-breathing lizards. Based Shepherd.
