How is he able to edit the shape of the rectangles? Im trying to become better at illustrator but I have no clue how he morphed the shape to create the trees.
How do you perfectly fit to artboard the overlapping shapes?
Make a box the same size as the artboard, arranged at the front, select all and CMD 7 to make a clipping mask

I love the tutprial but maybe a little explanation will make editing easy, its hard to learn without vocal guidance.

Once you make the layer mask you can double click on the masked object to open & modify objects inside the mask. Just like grouped objects

Don’t give up. It takes time to become ‘creative’. I don’t think anyone is necessarily born with creativity. Just like developing any skill, creativity requires time, effort and patience :)

Try changing the playback speed to 0.5, it'll make it a bit easier to follow
