FAQs: 😊
1. At 2:10, rather than using Shape Builder tool, a faster way is to select all shapes and click 'Divide' on Pathfinder panel. Done in a second, thanks to a few users who have suggested this! Life-changing :)
2. 3D feature is only available for Adobe Illustrator 2022 and up! So it doesn't work for anything before.
3. Only available in desktop version and not the iPad version
Thanks for the kind comments and feedback! 😊 Reply to this comment for what other topics or videos you want to see!
Trim might work better here than divide, divide still keeps the shapes underneath, whereas trim gets rid of any shape underneath the top shape. So you would be left with just the shapes you want.
i was going to comment the same thing
OMG thank youuuu , it wasn't working for me the other way hehe
Im extremely new, just thought it looks cool lmao. but for me it just says "pathfinder effects should usually be applied to groups", then it proceeds to do nothing lol. Anything i am stupidly doing wrong? :)
thank you so much i was trying the process of video it was not working then just saw your message.thank u
This was a great tutorial. I like how it seemed rough before the render but then you showed the results. I probably wouldn't have tested it.
For the rainbow, you can also make it with the concentric circle tool from the line menu.
I have been using illustrator for years. Self taught. Thank you for opening up a section that I never knew existed. Excellent tutorial!
You and me both, after using them for years we tend to not check out their new stuffs- but they're pretty cool aren't they! :) Glad you like it
It helps if you know other elements of the final usage for deciding light source and shadow directions, especially any adjacent photographs. Matching them helps with the illusion. Saving the AI file ready for final adjustments is a good idea. (Do that with your layer styles in PS too.)
Simply amazing! I have been playing with the 3D features that Illustrator has since Illustrator CS-1! But this is a GIANT leap from that. Awesome vid.
Loved this. Like a clay figure. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Adrianne! What a great tutorial, even like the music too :)
simple and beautiful tutorial
This is really wonderful. I have been using Illustrator for over a year but never used the 3D and Materials window. You have opened up a new dimension for me.
It's a relatively new feature and not what Ai was used for traditionally- it's a fun one indeed! Happy creating, Phix
This is so cool! It came out really cute!! Thank you for teaching this technique!
Thank you so much. This was a really fun and simple tutorial! I'm trying to learn more about my art programs and see what I can do with them.
Wow, first ever tutorial??? You sound like a pro, very well done! You're a natural. Thanks for the post.
This was incredible! Thank you for making this video.
Times like these I'm really happy with suggested videos by TH-cam, your video was so clear and honestly... this makes it look so less daunting than what I imagined it would be. Thanks so much!
I'm so happy you find it that way, I also try to be mindful it's easy to follow and short. Enjoy creating and feel free to let me know if you have other things you want to see in future videos 😊
It is really still working . Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this tutorial
I do believe this is the first new feature since the ability to paste smart objects that I'm actually interested in using. This was a great way to show off the Inflate function!
Thanks Max, I was also excited when I learnt about it initially!
Thanks for the tutorial. I have been using AI for more than 23 years, and I am still learning. Everything is pretty straight forward, I followed every step and it does exactly what you showed us. Thanks.
Made a couple of cute illustrations out of this tutorial! Thank you
This video just randomly popped in my homepage and I'm really thankful for that. Great tutorial!
Very helpful! Thank you so much
Quick and effective tutorial, great video, thanks for the tips! Incredible how far illustrator has come, I remember having to do the shadows manually and needing to break up objects into various sections or toying with a mesh to get the shadows just right.
Agreeed! There are more things to explore with their new updates, and I'm also learning to keep up to improve the workflow! :D
thank you. you explained it so simply.
Very helpful. Great teaching method. Thank you!
wow 我不知道Illustrator還可以做這樣的效果。謝謝妳的教學,好可愛的彩虹
Very good and easy tutorial, thank you🤩
Thank you so much for the great tutorial!

Thank you so much for this tutorial, I'll try it out myself and tag you in the finished result! 💖
You are so welcome!!! 😊😊 I’m super looking forward to that 😆
THANKS BRO IT WORKED!
This showed up in my timeline and I got curious. Keep up with your channel. I actually love the short format and easy to follow. This is perfect for beginners I can tell. I use to teach illustrator for teens and it’s exactly what beginners need to get familiar with the tool without the feel of having a class but an experience.
Good luck with your channel!
Thanks Maria for taking the time to write such kind comment 😊 it's very encouraging!
Your voice is so soothing. Thx for the tutorial! Exactly what I needed.

Great job for your first time!!! I learned a new trick!
This is so cool, I had no idea this was possible in Illustrator. Really great tutorial 🙌
Neither did I! Love learning and sharing what I've discovered, thanks James ;)
I love the way you teach!!! Please make more content!!
Thank you again Adrianne :D
As your first tutorial it was very smooth and informative. You are a natural. Thanks.
Wow, thanks Phillip, very encouraging 😊

Looks super simple and easy, I'll try for sure! Thanks for that video
You are so welcome! Glad you found it easy to follow :)
This is great, I use Illustrator all the time but didn't have any files that would benefit from this, so seeing you set it up and render it was really awesome!
Thank you, and cheers from Louisiana!
Of course! Do check out other videos, there are ones where you can just download free illustrations to turn 3D :)
Congrats on your first tutorial video, I think you did very well. Inspired me to open illustrator to check this out!
That's so kind of you and enjoy creating!

wow! thats cool
Thank you🥰
this was amazing!!! thank you!
I like your teaching.
AMAZING! Great tutorial Adrianne, enjoyed watching this and I learned something too.
Thanks so much Kevin, means a lot! :)
Thanks for sharing this! So fun
It seems to me that instead of repeatedly repeating the Copy / Paste and Offset Path operations with a circle, it would be more rational to use the Blend tool once with the number of steps = 3. And then expand it + apply the Divide function from Pathfinder to the result, as already commented above
Thank you so much for this. Im following for more Illustrator tutorials and im super excited. I tried this and it came out perfectly. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for the kind comment!! Can you share what kinds of tutorials would be interesting for you? ☺️
this is amasing it so beautiful
This is super rad! I didn’t know illustrator had a 3D function like this what a cool way to make a flat design pop or render a 3D image without modeling it!
I also didn’t know you could do that with the shape builder tool. I would have just made a square and used the divide tool in the pathfinder to cut it in half.
Thanks for the kind words, although your divide tool method will work much faster in this case :D
This was so well put together. Thank you
Very kind of you to say Jason, thank you!
Nice design and thank you for sharing ❤
Nice Work
This is really helpful Adriane. Found your tutorial in pinterest and really enjoyed it. Thank you! 💜🙏🏻
I'm glad to hear that, happy creating! :D
thanks brother
Thank you!

Aww that’s so kind of you, thank you! I will post more useful content going forward hopefully you will enjoy those too :))
Excellent tutorial
GAME CHANGER! Thanks for this demo!
You bet! :)
I mostly use Photoshop and don't really know much about illustrator but your tutorial was easy to follow along. I hope you also cover some basic of illustrator along the way. It will be really helpful.
Hi Ranajitt! Thanks for the feedback, I want to ensure my videos are beginner friendly, explaining the tools I use. Do you have any basic that you would love to see?
@@adriannewalujo.o right now I don't have any good suggestion. But for example 1) how do you put objects accurately Example- if I want to put a Circile inside a Cube (Twice as big) how would I know for sure it's in the Center of the cube. Something like that and 2) Some basic tips and tricks or 3) Suggestions
And also you are UI desiner So maybe 🤔 like how to design a responsive Portfolio website
@@ranajittdey9686 I will do a general tips video on how to present your folio- but it's more for illustrations :D I will look into UI designs stuffs too! Thanks for your feedback Ranajitt
worked bro
