Rangitoto Island is an awesome place to visit and explore for the day. We had a blast hiking to the summit, exploring the old World War 2 military sites, and venturing beneath the ground into the lava caves!
An not to mention listening to the beautiful bird songs and taking in the rugged landscapes and views.
It's the Biggest and Youngest Volcano (600 years old) in Auckland's volcanic field. A perfect day trip outing. There are no shops on the island, so make sure you pack plenty of water and food for the day.
