The US military has _always_ been incompetent. Even in WWII, US Allies saw that the US relies on overwhelming force and supposedly superior technologies rather than tactics, discipline and intelligence.

If you think of the purpose of the US military to project american power over the world to aid in American businesses theft of resources and fuel the military industrial complex by ensuring that they are constantly buying more and more war material, then it would actually be against their interests to fight too effectively, since that would save resources, shorten wars and occupations, and leave less collateral damage which would make it harder to find enemies to fight in later wars. So if you think of them as a business model, it all starts making more sense.

3:23, its also important to note that its strategically a better idea in Guerilla warfare to leave your opponents wounded but not dead becuase it takes up more of the enemies resources. It also doesn't help in any way to attack enemy medical evacuation, so it just makes sense not to.
