I loved this video. It was made really well and I like all the jokes and quirks u added. Beautiful car, it must be fun to drive. I have a 2000 myself. I'd love to 5 speed swap it. just don't have the time to do all the work. Keep it up! I enjoy the content
Bro...awesome video!! Your narration is hilarious. I have a '98 MGM gs base model. It is spruce green with graphite cloth interior. The thing just this year rolled over 200, 000 miles. It still runs smooth and rides like a floating sofa. I live these big beautiful behemoths. People who never drive them....both in city and highway on a daily basis don't get it. No they are definitely NOT gonna leave a Camaro or Stang in the dust.....nor will they ever get over 30 mpg despite best tuning efforts. But for what they were designed to do.....No other car platform in history has been as successful as the Panther platform. It lives up to the hype. And one reason is because it can be easily modified as you already know. Keep up the good work.
I'm in a similar boat with mine.2005 grand marquis, I've been trying to take care of mine though. Its been holding up pretty well, despite 3 fender benders. it sat for like 4 years, but it was in the shade. I think my parents go it with like 28k miles or something and I basically got it up to 72k. I'm about to do another brake job on it, I've been doing royal purple every 5k miles. I put 1000 miles on it several weeks driving from Maryland to Vermont in the winter with all-season Hankook's and it did really well. Also replaced the fuel filter for a k&n and the air filter to the k&n knockoff and it deff's seems to have more power. I'm flushing the breaks when i do this break job with power stops with dot 5.1. and im gonna flush the coolant soon, and the diff fluid. I push my car hard af though, but I've been taking it easier on her. I was basically driving it like a cop
How did you keep the power gas pedal? I have a P71 I want to manual swap and I want to keep at least the gas adjustable to preserve a feature that not many P71s got ordered with
I made my own clutch pedal assembly. The one you can buy that's prefabbed is slightly different and does not allow to keep the power gas pedal. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it was just a matter of leaving enough space for it to fit
Very funny narration! I really enjoyed the video and story....as I'm the proud owner of my grandparents 2004 MGM they bought new. I got it with 42k miles just 2.5 years ago. Now has 78k miles and runs great. Who needs a new car payment when you could drive something sentimental? lol
Amazing convertion from auto to manual. Why did you decided to do it? However, I'm in love whit this cars Grand Marquis/Crown Victoria/Town Car/Marauder, but I have to be calm with my Focus ZX4 '00.
I'm literally going to save this video in my playlist of things that make me feel better when things go wrong with my crown Vic there is hope out there especially hearing this s*** spectacular spectacular spectacular thing on four wheels
You're right about that. It's a great workhorse, but there's certainly neglected ones out there that are total heaps. They still need maintenance just like everyone else haha
Good review, reminded me in style of RCR a little. Nice camera work but I would have liked more interior views. Mercury Grand Marquis falls into one of those recently orphaned brands like Oldsmobile or the now defunct full size Buick Park Avenues & Roadmasters, you need to enjoy the privilege of driving them while they are still on the road. Cheap luxury to buy, but an enthusiasts effort to maintain. The reward is preserving a little piece of automotive history & your grandfathers legacy.
Thanks, and well said! As for more interior views, I was running out of daylight and wanted to get in the driving shots with the sunset behind the car. Poor time management on my part haha
There's a speedo calibrator that gets spliced in to some wires under the dash. The tr3650 doesn't use a speedo gear system like on the standard 4 speed, so when you swap over, the speed will read like 100mph when you're only going 30mph haha
I have a 98 Grand Marquis and I have the duals, muffler and cats delete, and nice wheels and tires but my ultimate goal for this car is a manual transmission. Finding the person that can do it around here is probably going to be an issue.
I am thinking of doing an unconventional Manual Swap as well. A swap on my '95 Suburban since the original 335k 4l60e seems to be on it's way out. I am just looking for a parts truck to steal everything from. Something like my '74 since they both have the same wheelbase (I of course would never get my '74 because I love it so much, besides why would I want a 3spd in a gmt400).
Cable operated clutch? That seems weird considering the work involved with the conversion. I wish these cars had a 3 on the tree as base equipment. I don’t like the idea of losing space for 6 just to have a manual transmission. Not to mention the fact that your doing a lot more shifting in a 5spd’s compared to a 3.
cable operated clutch is what came on the mustang gt of the era, so that's just how it is. doing a 3 on the tree would like be an incredible undertaking considering there hasn't been a 3 speed manual for probably 50 years. Though it would certainly be interesting
😂 i just got done manual swapping my 2003. The clutch is so heavy that when i got into my 2002 Frontier, i thought the clutch line had blown, and thats with 170k miles on its original clutch and pedal effort about 2x what it was new. I did my manual swap for about $2100 so far, including the $500 i spent on the car (bad trans)
You're right about that, my friend. People say I spent too much on an old car when I could've just traded it in a bought a mustang for cheaper. Doesn't interest me as much as my own creation
Sorry I was just getting ready to type some and I lost my composure when you said squeaking and loose like a cheerleader or something or another and I fucken lost it,choked on my popcorn and almost dumped a liter of cola in my lap like Farva on SuperTroopers!!!🤣😅🍿🥤👮♂️🚓💨
Panther platform: The car version of something that nobody realized the potential of until it was dead.
Sad but true
I just discovered your channel, and I think its the next big thing.
Thanks! That means a lot. Let's hope your intuition is right. Tell all your friends!
Hey! I've seen this car around my neighborhood!
Don't be afraid to say hello
Its for sale on Craigslist Detroit
Nice.
Congrats on your swap.
Your Gramps would be proud.

I sure hope he would. Thanks

Keep up with maintenance and you can drive it however you want. It can handle it!
Absolutely stunning! Honored to have sat in the beige beauty herself. Another fantastic video!
Thanks, just try not to puke with excitement
This is great just for the comedy, but then you throw in car facts and more tidbits for a great video. Great job you’ve got another subscriber!
That's my intent! Thanks for sticking around!

where did you get the tach housing and gauge? i have the 01 and have been looking at Piller gauges
The gauge is Glowshift, and the housing is from ADTR. It only comes in black, but I painted it to match
@@HighMileageReviews thanks dude
Do you have a part number for the springs I want to lower my 99 mgm but not sure which ones would fit

Those of us who drive stick shift feelz your pain upon the subject of ' disproportionate legs '. hahahahahahaha and lol and stuff
When it's leg day, I only work out my right leg to compensate
Like the Volvo 240, this is a car that can go almost forever if taken care of.
You're right about that. It's a great workhorse, but there's certainly neglected ones out there that are total heaps. They still need maintenance just like everyone else haha
Nice what shifter did u use?
It's an MGW short throw shifter. You can see the list of all parts and brands used near the end of the video
@@HighMileageReviews does cruise control still work?
@@neilbrown82 sure does. Even has redundant cruise control deactivation switches on both clutch pedal and brake pedal

Great car,exhaust sounds perfect

So glad I watched this

Well well and I'm so glad I watched this as well. LOL 😆. GREAT JOB

How about the speedometer sensor how did you make it work propry 🙏

This guy is good.
Thanks, Charles!
Are you around the chicago land area?
Yep!
Awesome video! This is amazing!

I'm sure there's a million different options that can be swapped out for the 4L60! Give it a go
After 3 years, I finally did it!
Not on the '95, but on my '98 Suburban K1500 that just turned over 320,000 miles (I sold the '95).
suburbans did come with manuals
@@omegarugal9283 Not since 1991 (the end of the square body Suburban).

@@HighMileageReviews wrong an 86 f150 had a 3spd as base equipment and most American cars did until 1979.
It’s weird to think of these as 30k cars now. I just picked up an 04 LeSabre for under 1k and it was 34k when new. 😂
