  • Yes I do actually own a ‪@warnindustries‬ winch and I put on my Willys! But I'm taking it off soon and replacing it with a ‪@harborfreight‬ Badlands winch. The Warn winch will go on my Dodge when I build it into the off road wrecker so that I can air the tires up and down

    The tracks are great for winter 🥶 and once you get the bugs worked out they will be an asset. I’ve seen a few trucks with tracks here in Michigan but they are kinda pricey.

    First of all; I really enjoy your videos. Secondly; do you have, or have you ever thought of installing a second battery in parallel to double your power? Do you leave the vehicle running? I have noticed that you shut down your vehicles when you arrive at a job site. Do you ever worry about the truck not starting again?

    Get an aftermarket trans cooler and plumb it into your power steering lines. That will keep your power steering from boiling over. I did it to my YJ steering system and also added 2-4" 12v computer fans to the cooler for when you are crawling so it still stays cool.

    I was just wondering if you could have eliminated the extra force needed to turn the front tracks by only having tracks on the rear?? Or this that not possible because of gear ratio conflict??

    I wouldn't have been worried about the brakes anyway I'd be more worried about bearings you should keep a couple of those with you just in case while you're up on the mountain but baby those come with your new kit for being heavy duty you never mentioned anything about the bearings but that was very well explained I think that's a pretty cool setup I've never seen anything like that except for the rigs up on the mountain at Mount Hood ski Lodge but usually it's just that big tractor up there with the huge tires I like that older Jeep you got to can't beat that old stuff the older the better keep up the great videos and on those jack stands I was just thinking can't you put an extra inch of metal and just weld it on there u probably have to measure it once you had it in the right spot to get the track to line up but then there again you're not always going to be on that height of pavement so I think you're probably just screwed you'll just have to be careful LOL 😂 be safe out there

    • @sterlingodeaghaidh5086
      @sterlingodeaghaidh5086 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doub't the bearings will be a problem, what wears a bearing more is improper maintenance, the axel is only spinning a tiny sprocket compared to a larger wheel so the rotational mass isn't gonna be an issue and the weight that the bearing sees is the same as that is applied by the vehicle not the tire.

    • @junkyardhillbilly
      @junkyardhillbilly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sterlingodeaghaidh5086 so he could just put spacers on there too then because it's only running a little sprocket right but that was good to know I thought the bearings would go bad

    When you put the new steering system on drain the power steering fluid and use hydraulic fluid iso 30 or 32 I forget the number at the moment. Hydraulic fluid will take a higher heat because of the smaller orifices it has to go through, heating the fluid, it will keep air bubbles out because of its ability to take the heat, so less cavitation of the pump and it won’t boil the fluid.

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a snowcat, but wanted a track setup like this because they're faster, easier to transport, can drive down the road, cheaper to maintain, and the heater works better
