    Adobe Photoshop is so powerful. I wish that I could afford it and just do three clicks instead of all this. Great tutorial. I followed it. It worked. And, it was free. I just cost time.

    Thanks, grow is a lot easier than my old method of creating eight copies of the text and moving one 5 pixels left, right, up, down, up-left, up-right, down-left, and down-right.

    Thank you for this tutorial! Wonder why it's not just a simple option to add a border in the text tool.

    PERFECT! Thank you for a easy answer without all the talking about why you would want to do it and bla bla bla.. straight to the point! Thank you.

    Your video is really educational, the problem is Gimp's lack of a feature so simple as "Outline" included in the text tool, like maaaany other editors. If you have a template or reuse a previous file for, say, youtube thumbnails where you only change the text, you have to go through a lot of extra steps. By the way, there's a 4th way to add an outline to text which requires less steps but, in my example of reusing files, is also annoying. After writing the text, go to Filters - Light and Shadow - Drop Shadow. Set x and y to 0, Blur radius 0, grow shape circle and grow radius as many pixels as you want the outline. The annoying part comes when you want to edit the text because, first, the shadow-outline is gone, and second, the text moves up and left as many pixels as you defined the growth radius, so you need to move the text back in place. So +1 for the video, -10 for Gimp's missing such basic resource

    Thanks man 👍
    I had problems at forst because you _need_ to manually paint the borders, or they either are transparent or of the same color of whatever color you have as a background, which is odd.

    I am able to follow the directions up to the part with the fill tool but when I use it nothing happens, is there any reason the fill tool won't fill the grow borders?

    Can the border option be used for images as well?

    • @ChrisTutorialsYT
      @ChrisTutorialsYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure can. Any layer you right click and get the alpha to selection for can be used as the shape for the border. So if you do that, the border will outline other images like a logo.

      @@ChrisTutorialsYT as someone who's looked for a tutorial specifically for adding borders to images... you might do well reposting this video with a new title showing how to do it for an image. I haven't been able to find a sub 3 minute video on it from a free program. Just food for though , might generate hits. Anyways man great content thank you. liked and subbed

    Hey I have a question how do you get rid of the dotted background of the words? I've tried using remove alpha channel on the text and border but it just makes the background turn to solid color. Would greatly appreciate an answer.

    This should just be a selection in the text box, some of the things that gimp lacks are just ridiculous

    Gimp is a horrible program why the cross hairs on next to the cursor makes it hard to open and move thing
