    I'm from Mozambique and my native language is Portuguese (European Portuguese) but I'm here watching your videos :D... I'm in the same situation learning English and it gives me hope that one day I'll become fluent at it... I hope all the best for all portuguese learners.. It's indeed a really cool language :)

    I did the exam 4 years ago at University of the Algarve, and obtained citizenship thereafter, however I think the exam ( certainly at the time ) was more difficult than the basic A2 level , because a lot of the comprehension and audio answers are down to interpretation, not just basic understanding ( many of the answers appearing to be very similar). However if you are a very competent A2 level speaker and have good understanding then it shouldn't be a problem. I had done B1 level at a language school and achieved 74% in the exam.

    I want to take the exam in june. Having done a couple of practice tests, timing is crucial for the reading and writing. It's easy to get bogged down on a question, so best to move on. I find the Listening quite difficult but I have time to improve. Yesterday was very helpful and looking forward to Thursday

    I am a new expat and the exam and citizenship is my goal in 4 years. These videos are very helpful for giving insight into the exam process and where I need to be with my Portuguese language skills. I hope to be joining you in March to begin classes and work towards my goal.

    Every official document , contract, etc has to be signed like your ID, if you want to shorten it you have to sign your ID when you request it and then always sign like it, traditionally kids write the full name and when you renew your ID on later ages people usually shorten it.
    The multiple choice parts of test always have trick questions to make it harder, so the "American style" as we call it is actually the hardest part usually.

    One thing you did not talk about with respect to the CIPLE exam was accents. Someone who is fluent in Portuguese should be able to understand most accents but this is not always the case. I think I can understand 90-95% of what Portuguese with Leo says. But if the speaker is from Porto, my understanding drops. And if the speaker is from the Algarve or the Azores, my understanding really fades. Also, if the speaker uses many idioms. For the listening section, what accent did the speaker have? Did he/she speak at a normal speed or slightly slower? What do you think would happen in the conversation section if the person taking the exam spoke with a Brazilian accent? Even fluent Portuguese speakers can be challenged by certain accents.

I do want to take the B2 exam at the end but not sure if I should take A2 or B1 also before sitting for the B2 level. Any thoughts?

    This is so helpful. Early days for me yet. Made the typical mistake of starting out with duolingo so have accumulated lots of vocabulary. But living in Singapore, I dont have access to learning European portuguese anywhere (have searched !). I have 3 yrs lead time to give the exam (for citizenship). Have recently (since Nov 2021) started learning online 1/week with excellent teacher named Sara Correia of Cut The Mustard language school (found her on fb) and she's the one who sent me your youtube channel link. Feeling so foolish that I didnt come across your cannel sooner ! I find listening the hardest....due to the accent and speed and often absence of a pause between words or even sentences. Could you recommend listening exercises pls ?

    TIP FOR MEN that MAY apply to learners of the Portugese language...
    i learned Thai to a similar level to that expected of CIPLE. The course was entirely taught by a female teacher. All went well and i passed the course.
    HOWEVER, when i actually spoke Thai in Thailand i was quickly informed that i spoke the language like a woman !
    It wasn't a problem as such as the amusement of the listener helped 'break the ice' so to speak, but it's something worth taking into account when learning how to speak a new language.
    cheers

Presumably you have the new one (or at least the letter from SEF, with the QR code, to prove that you applied for it)?

    All very interesting Liz. You say that the listening tape is 30 minutes long and with different audio sections on it. Is it 30 minutes of listening or 5 mins of audio, then 10 mins of silence while you answer the questions etc? Thanks.

    • @TalktheStreets
      @TalktheStreets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it is 30 mins of short texts being played twice throughout that time. The five minutes at the end is silence to transfer your rough notes to the answer sheet. Check out the sample paper online I link it in the description :)
