I think you probably shouldn't mess with a great album I like it just fine . Also the noise and Ambience of the recording is part of what drew me to Dinosaur Jr to begin with . Just one reporters opinion
@@patricklink8527 I get that, but then there would still be the original to listen to as well as this hypothetical remade album. Not that it will happen regardless, but it's still fun to pretend. Haha
I'm terrible with album and song names, but I have a Dinosaur Jr album that sounds like it's coming through an apartment wall. Some remasters are definitely in order for this level of music!
Incredibly underrated? They're rated just right. They've got loads of credit and respect. Among the Z-generation, they might be underrated compared to, say, Nirvana, but that's as far as their underratedness goes.
Takes me back to high school in the mid 90, laying back in bed stoned off my ass listening to dino jrs first three albums on my walkman one right after the other..
It's floating through the abyss Under the brig my head swings down Beware her wrath, the image gone The shell is crumbling, fix my frown This spell would be clear in non-tradition And stepping on these pieces of pain and smirk And rape goes through to sin my eyes And shapes know where the heartache will lurk Forget the swan, a stone swims near A stone has come, if I could cheer Forget the swan Forget the swan Drifting among this rubble I guess the waiting, wished I would I found a box, untethered and true Possession it understood Forget the swan, a stone swims near A stone has come, if I could cheer Forget the swan Forget the swan How I tried to warn my neighbor But the corn was much too high In confusion up and threw him, woke up every day But it's not too late brother, I'll still say you were mine Forget the swan, a stone swims near A stone has come, if I could cheer Forget the swan Forget the swan Forget the swan, the dreams are gone The pain goes on, they fly at dawn Forget the swan Forget the swan Forget the swan Forget the swan
Got to lean against the stage in Nashville(Cannery Ballroom) in front of Lou the whole show. Could barely hear J through the bass. Loved it! And...got Lou’s setlist after the show and met J! Also, saw them in San Diego, LA and Baltimore on this tour.(Fall 2019)
There's been versions of Forget The Swan over 13 minutes long. I can only imagine the agony of Murph behind the kit. J writes some difficult drum parts
Jay M. has managed to create his very own Syle. But the other two are also part of it. Mr. B. his exelente voice and his bass playing, which is in the remotest sense, rather a guitar style on the bass, also makes very important ingredients to make the soup taste as it tastes at DINOSAUR Jr. Unique and immediately to taste, from the day's porridge. 🤜🖤🤛
I really wish they'd "remaster" this album with their modern recording capabilities. The songs pop out so much more live than they do on the album.

@@patricklink8527nah i kinda agree with OP, they were so young when they made these songs i'd love to hear them with more polish

Remastering it would be like taking the musty taste out of your Blue Cheese
Damn, J soloed longer then my dad was in my life.
+Tom Rafter i think even lou and murph didnt expect that much =o
They ALL soloed man. Dinosaur Jr is fucking amazing, all three are crazy talented
Best comment on the Internet.
Noah Talbott Word
Can relate bro... 😂😂
Murphy completely destroyed it on the drums. What a fucking animal. Amazing performance from an incredibly underrated band.

J Mascis never fails to shred a solo. Crazy to think he started out as a drummer.
Yeah he’s definitely not short of talent he was a drummer for upside down cross and his other band witch are fukkin brilliant too
Took the job away from Lou
J: "Alright Murph, you're gonna get your cardio in for the week."
😝😝😝😝 he’s an animal
Cant believe this song came out in 1985. It sounds as though it was written yesterday. Same with "The Lung".........Timeless music.
Lou singing is really fucking amazing on this perfomance
Crazy to think that J wrote this when he was like 18
This song's from what, '84? These guys were ahead of their time.
Correct.
Came out in ‘85 actually but he might’ve wrote in ‘84 but it came out in ‘85
They were. But made nothing out of it.
@@brunftbert3381 Really ignorant thing to say. These guys have carved out their own sound, and career longevity that most bands could only dream of.
@@brunftbert3381 Huh?
One of the few times J and Lou harmonize. I love it.
Im thinking now, this is true? I love them, but did u see how many times Lou barlow look at him? This is a kexp morning show? second song?
Takes me back to high school in the mid 90, laying back in bed stoned off my ass listening to dino jrs first three albums on my walkman one right after the other..
bassking80 sounds fucking perfect!
Same
When i start smoking again listening to their entire discography might just be the first thing i do.
This dude J can guitar-solo forever without a sweat
one of the most powerful trio's in music
yes one of my very favourite band! another great trio bands are Rush, Kings X and Primus (not sure they are 3 right XD )
Wow, J must be one of the best guitarists ever
Generational. Yet to be acknowledged by mainstream sources. Who cares tho. It is power.
He is in my opinion
Correct!
He is.
Джей играет душой, а не пальцами. Вот и весь секрет.
Best Band of All Time. Period.
love when the chorus when j and lou sing together
mind blowing psychedelic solo
such misuse and respect for the bass at the same time, incredible
dedicated to my dear Grandfathers Nikolai and Dimitri, divine spirit be always with them....
Oh shoot. My face just melted.
Same...got too close🎶🎶🎶
I have no idea where lou even came up with some of those "chords" he is playing, but holy fuck do I love it!
Minecraft 4 life that’s what’scool about Dino Jr. They’re not a power chords driven Band. The melodies are astonishing 😍
love the flanger effect
The bassist's voice sounds amazing here.
He also fronts groups called Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion
Ill forgive you...but this is one of the few times you should learn the name of the bassist...props to lou...he does everything but keep the bar low
+MrTradisrad nice pun
This just makes me want to see them live once more. They really kick ass on stage
These guys are the best. I wish 15 year old me found them in 1985 instead of 35 year old me in about 2005. Woulda changed my life
At lest you found out about them right about when they got back together. I got into em around the time Give A Glimpse came out.
Or 48 year old me in 2021 lol
25 year old me I’m 2005. Thank you Henry Rollins.
12 year old me in 85. Debut album. Changed my life. Lifelong fan & favorite band of my era.
@kevinc809 You weren't watching MTV in the early to mid 90s?
But your kids are gonna love it.
how the fuck could anyone dislike this?
I love it, they have as much or more energy than when they did it way back in the eighties.
I can see this is going to be one of those bands where I have a new favorite song every week. Not favorite song by this band but favorite song period.
Saw them on my 30th b'day. Still as fresh as ever : )
I'm now 51 this september & i don't mind that one bit
Alternative rock doesn't get any better than this. This was everything.....
I think Murph needs a cold beer after that effort
Gorgeus solo... Amazing performance dino
It's floating through the abyss
Under the brig my head swings down
Beware her wrath, the image gone
The shell is crumbling, fix my frown
This spell would be clear in non-tradition
And stepping on these pieces of pain and smirk
And rape goes through to sin my eyes
And shapes know where the heartache will lurk
Forget the swan, a stone swims near
A stone has come, if I could cheer
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
Drifting among this rubble
I guess the waiting, wished I would
I found a box, untethered and true
Possession it understood
Forget the swan, a stone swims near
A stone has come, if I could cheer
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
How I tried to warn my neighbor
But the corn was much too high
In confusion up and threw him, woke up every day
But it's not too late brother, I'll still say you were mine
Forget the swan, a stone swims near
A stone has come, if I could cheer
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
Forget the swan, the dreams are gone
The pain goes on, they fly at dawn
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
Forget the swan
How does Lou play the bass so accurate like that?
amazing
probably 40 years of practice :P
In an interview he said he wanted to play the bass like if he was playing a guitar. That's a unique style.
A HELLA LOT of left hand string dampening 😂
He also said he had to hit the strings hard so he could be heard over j...
Amazing performance. I think this is the first song from their first album.... just mindblowing
Every time I sneaked out on my rollerblades to go on monday movies on our local discotheque because "they fly at dawn" high school memories❤
The best that rock n roll may reach
"They fly at dawn!"
I fucking love this song,My fav Dino jr song of all time.Never get bored of this.Love it
That song will be the death of Murph
LOL
It's like he is sacrificing himself so that the rest of us can live.
man, you can tell this performance was loud as fuck. good job who ever did sound on this video.

I love the bass rumble.
Well I was gonna try and cover this one on acoustic...but after watching this maybe ill keep this cover to myself in my basement
I love that they play so many versions of this amazing song.
Rare to see a great band performing again. :)
Brutal.
love you Lou idk why.... but I do. I like your music too!
THIS SONG IS THE BEST
8:08 Murph gives Lou a look of acknowledgement.
8:09 Lou responds with a nod of approval.
A hole in the space time continuum breaks every time J Mascis solos due to the energy produced by his guitar.
Wow...another really good song i have never heard....
"where you been"😂😂😂
@@mxxmi no kidding..:)
the best band ever .......
Lou being back gives me faith in humanity
Memories.
my favourite tune
Imo the best song of Dinosaur Jr! Masterpiece!
Listening to such art in this reality has been an honor.
So good
Longest and one of the greatest solos
loveLOVE this song
I love this band so much
J Mascis = genius
*Mascis soloing*
Murph- "alright dude we fucking get it..."
There's been versions of Forget The Swan over 13 minutes long. I can only imagine the agony of Murph behind the kit. J writes some difficult drum parts
Have you ever thought about how band that never got a LOT of recognition - actually age better?
Lou is Crazy!
from 4:07 to 7:42 : Thanks J, I
I said God damn! 🤘🔥💣
Just a fuckin' great band right hur
"Forget the Swan" Guitar Dificulty
Album version: 🙂
Live version 💀
Soooo good!
Does anybody know what pedal J uses 2:05 ?
sounds like a flanger
Electric Mistress
One day Murph is just going to explode behind his drumset.
On another level
So sick so clean so rockin so I say
