There is an option to keep everything locally on the computer even after OneDrive is backed it up. I know the way they do things is crazy. The cloud drive system should not totally move people's data to a new Drive structure. Just back up the data and leave the data alone on the local machine.

@CyberMedics After speaking with some people, I have been recommended the service "Carbonite" which apparently simply backs up files without messing around with anything on the computer.

You helped me recover the video of my son being born. Thank you soo much! I was in tears thinking i had lost it.
Your comment brought joy to us. Thank you for the kind feedback. Support from viewers keeps us going.
The way Microsoft coded this is nightmarishly irresponsible. There should be much greater controls to selectively choose what you want synchronized across all your systems and what should be local only. Several applications currently default to storing data and settings in the My Documents folder and that can become troublesome if it is constantly trying to sync large files that don't need to be synced. Lastly, local data should never, ever be deleted without an express approval from the user.
OMG! So totally agree with you! Thanks for commenting and subscribing. Please also check out our Bitlocker video to prevent another MS nightmare. Cheers!
I cant believe this either. I am beside myself. It just deleted stuff off my computer. YEARS of work. Is there the possibility of a class action lawsuit? Have you tried signing up for a free trial with that account? Maybe the data is still on the cloud. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for commenting & subscribing.
Sometimes when people reached the limit of their free account it seems that the data disappears. But I have heard instances where they sign up for the paid account and were able to get their data back. So it might be worth a shot to sign up for paid account and see if you can get the data.
Same here. I am an academic scientist and I lost years of experimental data. This occurred after "upgrading" to their 1 TB storage. One Drive just started deleting files off my computer. Great news thanks for updating us and letting others know. We appreciate you supporting the channel and sharing our content.
The solution to fixing the problem with OneDrive is to NOT USE IT, PERIOD. I can't even begin to describe the nightmare you're going to experience. First and foremost. OneDrive is not ONE DRIVE. It's anything but ONE DRIVE. In fact, the name suggests that it's a cloud drive that all connected devices use one drive. This is FAR from the case. You're going to end up with at LEAST 3 separate fragmented drives. The "cloud" drive (aka, INTERNET drive), your local PC, and perhaps your laptop. Oh my, where do I begin. People, JUST DON'T DO IT. Force Microsoft to abandon this disaster like they're doing with Windows Subsystem for Android which FRIES CPUs. Yes, you heard right! You'll be able to fry an egg on your laptop or PC. They decided they messed up and are just dropping "support" for it, but it continues to overheat CUPs. Ok, about OneDrive. What it does AT MINIMUM, is hold your files hostage. Once you copy a file or folder to your OneDrive folder, you're going to have the time of your life. For instance, before that folder is totally synced, and when is that?, you can't copy and paste the folder to make a local backup... only the synced files will copy to the new location. This is how people are losing years of source code, documents, pictures. Then when you try to move about your OneDrive on your PC, there is a huge unexplainable delay even if the files are marked Keep On This PC. So if it's a local copy, what's the delay for??
Well said. The delay, as you aptly point out, is because they are literally rearranging the data structure on your pc. How smart is that? Not very!!! Thank you for your insightful critique. Thanks for supporting the channel by commenting and giving the video a thumbs up. Please check out our videos on MS’s terrible implementation of Bitlocker drive encryption. Would welcome your comments on those videos.
i use wintweaker select delete one drive and it my desktop are gone and all documents, try to recover with 4 digg and nothing there, how can i recover all it?
Not familiar with wintweaker. OneDrive usually keeps things in the trash can on the cloud for up to 30 days. I would check there first and in your local trash can in your computer

Now how to restore deleted photo from onedrive app permanently those onedrive folders that are in DATA Or MEDIA or OBB in my Android phone Or is there any other location where onedrive saved synced files from online onedrive account? Please help
Great questions. Don’t have experience with Onedrive on android
I am trying to clean up the disaster created by One Drive and I continue to find completely random files in random places. Was this One Drive tool created as an intentional troll?
Between the implementation of OneDrive and BitLocker I think they should be criminally liable for what they've done to people's computers.
Please check out our BitLocker video also. Your subject to having your computer completely encrypted and not having access to the key if you don't plan ahead of time. Even if you don't log in with a Microsoft account any account services you use with Microsoft can wind up having your computer encrypted.

Do you want to permanently delete the remaining files?" And I clicked yes thinking my Local drive wouldn't be affected. I just got an email from Microsoft. Here is what they told me. I'm crushed because I had years of stuff on my Desktop
From Microsoft:
We appreciate your valuable response. We hope you are doing great!
We would like to inform you that OneDrive is designed in such a way that when you delete an item from OneDrive, it goes to the Recycle bin of the account and stays there for 30 days. Items in the Recycle bin are automatically deleted in 30 days. Also, if you delete them from Recycle bin within these 30 days after they are put there, unfortunately, again, the files/folders are purged from our servers. It means that they are permanently deleted and are unrecoverable.
In your case, since you agreed to the prompt, ““Recycle Bin Full. Do you want to permanently delete the remaining files?”, we are afraid, they have been permanently deleted from OneDrive and sadly, there are no other ways to restore them back.
It is very hard for us to inform you that, the answer to your question is no. If you have deleted them from recycle bin of OneDrive, unfortunately it cannot be recovered.
@@jasonlara only other option is to use drive recovery software. The information is still on the local hard drive, but it may be hard to recover. It may be worth pursuing that if there’s particular items that you want. we don’t have any particular recommendation on Drive recovery software. Sorry this happened to you. Hey there, I have had my worst fears come true. I was having onedrive syncing issues so I contacted Microsoft support last week. Long story short the tech deleted my Desktop which is where I keep all of my data, all files. I have spoken to a few different techs and they cannot find it anywhere. Some data was recovered but folders are missing documentsand a ton of other documents, thousands. It has disappeared. No joke, my life is ruined because of this. I spoke to them again today and they are still trying to figure this out. I am freaking out, not knowing if they can fix this. Have you encountered anything similar?😭
Short answer…no. But if it’s been within the last 30 days, there should be historical record of what’s been deleted out there on the OneDrive account via the web. Usually you can put in a date and recover data that’s been deleted within the last 30 days. Really sorry this has happened to you, but in the future, please turn on file history and connect an external drive to your computer. Every time you make a change to file a record copy of that change will be recorded and backed up to the hard drive. if the data that was deleted was on the physical drive of the computer, even though the files were deleted, the files are still on the computer. Using recovery software you could possibly recover the files, especially if you don’t do a lot of writing back-and-forth on the computer before the recovery.
I’m sure you probably already checked the recycle bin. If you don’t want to pay for a data recovery tool, you can use the Microsoft command line program. Here is some information about it. www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-recover-deleted-files-in-windows-10. And also works for Windows 11.
@@CyberMedics If I put everything in a new folder in onedrive and then recover from an earlier date, even though it would be a huge amount of data, would that work?
@@joliemeriec if you recover from an earlier day, OneDrive by default puts the data back on the computer and the structure that it was there before I’m not sure about creating a new folder? But maybe I’m not following your logic.
@@CyberMedics I meant that if I created a folder and put everything that is currently on my computer and/or Onedrive so that it would not be the same names of files or folders that would be recovered? It uploaded a bunch of files i didn't want it to upload but useless shit like the shortcuts and some files of my videogames and programs. i unistalled oenrive and bam everything on my PC is gone like wtf. uploads shit and deltes it and i don't want it too. what a fucking pain
The way they implemented this is trash. Part of the problem when you reached the five gig free limit, it appears that the data is uploaded but you don’t have access to it. Many subscribers has been successful. Getting a one month paid subscription and then logging back into OneDrive and downloading all their data locally. there’s also an online trashcan where the date might be put so that’s a place to check. Let us know if we can do anything to help.
Done tamsak and watching
Hi sir
OD deleted my photos , is there any chance that I can recover them
Because I have so many memories in it and my friend died recently, only one pic we had together
I'm in need of help!
?OD. Yes there is a chance you can recover your account. How did you lose access to it? What information do you know about the account?
@@CyberMedics yes while syncing in onedrive 🥲
@@CyberMedics almost 2000 photos got deleted automatically
Sorry for the late reply. This kind of just showed up. Were you able to get your photos back?

Please help! My boyfriend went to delete a game that was in a OneDrive file and ended up of deleted all of my personal files. Tones of important photos and videos 😭 some of them contains my father who passed away. This is so fucking strange. Only my file..the whole thing is gone. Everything else is back except my file! Please help!!!!!!!
Thank you for commenting and subscribing. Normally OneDrive keeps a copy of what is deleted in the trash can for I think up to 30 days. Please check there and see if the files are available. On a side note never trust all of your data being backed up to a cloud service you should have a local backup in addition to the cloud backup.
@@CyberMedics Thank you for responding! We didn't even know that my files was on OneDrive. I only stored them locally. I never used OneDrive on my boyfriend's PC. He checked on both the trash cans, only at OneDrive's trash can had my files but when he recovered the file it was empty. Also, it was very odd that even though my file is empty the local drive seemed like nothing has deleted. My files was at least 20gb (probably much more) how is it possible to be deleted at one second?!
@@Dimitropoulos.M this is sad people losing their data trying to stored on the cloud. Were you using the pay subscription of OneDrive when this happened? Any update would be appreciated
Hi, i erase all my files in the cloud, my onedrive account is out of space and i delete all the files to have more space.
After that, i saw my onedrive is still out of space so i went to recycle bin and delete all of it to free some space, when i get back to my computer's desktop everything is gone.
Can i have all my files back?
Did you check your local recycle bin? You should always have a local copy of your data. Never completely trus cloud storage.
@@CyberMedics
I have checked my local recycle bin, and i saw only a few. Not much. I delete the onedrive files yesterday. Can i have the files back?
@@anggrekbulanfwc probably the only way to possibly get the data back is to use a data recovery tool. Here is some recommendations from techradar www.techradar.com/best/best-data-recovery-software we have not personally used any of these
@@CyberMedics
I consider this event as a hard lesson learned, and i want to thank you for your fast response and help.
@anggrekbulanfwc Always best to have a local copy of data. Never trust your data completely on the cloud
Hey, scumbag OD deleted all my files LOCALLY! After we bought a subscription for it we could retrieve files from the cloud, but NOT ALL FILES! It didn't have most recent files. And now i can't use Restore your "OneDrive" UNLESS i get 365 subscription, just to try and see if they have those files. Is there a way to know if i get that god damn subscription will it bring my files back? Btw now you have new UI and you DON'T have an option for "Disable files on demand"
Thank you for the update on the UI. It is probably your best bet to get the subscription and try to recover the files. Normally they have a free trial. Let us know the results so we can help others.
Microsoft is like the mafia. Nice hard drive you have there. Pay us protection money to get your data back. They are criminals.
Totally agree
