They might have needed the cash to help with the mortgage payments on the Mac or something. Not everyone can be a brain surgeon. Some people beat on rocks for a living (I do). @@Starchface They had a 10 mil studio, so I couldn't film hardly anything in there. Don't think they were struggling for money, so no guilt felt at all from my side :P
They had probably gotten some sort of insurance pay out for a replacement, so it was really nothing to sell it for whatever as a plus. But yeah, the CPU was most likely under warranty so the system could actually have been repaired for free. Good on TYC on that deal. One man's throw out and all that.
Love your stuff mate, followed for ages. I’m an Aussie creator that builds and flips pcs with my wiener (dog) so always good to see other aussies killing it!

Moral of the story: If you ever see someone selling a “faulty” PC, always check if they know how to seat RAM before lowballing. You just might walk away with a free tech warehouse.
@gaganpreetxp actually got a 13900ks chip a couple of days before the fiasco... stopped myself installing until everything was rectified like 3 months later, and scored an extra 2 years warranty. For a total now of 5 years on a complete fresh and new, unaffected 13900ks cpu.
Intel is pretty lenient with exchanging those i7-13900k/14900ks over here in Europe. Work friend had 9 fried ones (200+ PCs a month) and they sent him 10 working ones back "for the inconvenience" ;)
What a haul :) reseating the RAM does miracles sometimes. I remember when I snagged a 4th gen i7 PC that wasn't booting, just needed to reseat the RAM, which is what I did when I brought it home. But this PC is something else. Nice deal :)
The easiest problem to fix for a lot PC is usually the RAM. I've fixed a couple PC just by swapping the RAM. Maybe they just don't really understand computer stuff but who the hell leaves some DDR5 RAM & 2TB NVMe just lying around? Are they too rich to care? 😂
Nah, it's just luck of the draw. I'm in Florida and had a guy give me four boxes of electronics and computer parts when I sold him a PC a few years back because he had them sitting and didn't know what to do with them. I sorted, tested and got about five hundred dollars pure profit because I happened to be the right seller at the right time.

As a flipper - when you offer, the price you negotiate is something that you and the buyer/seller is happy with. They can't fix it, so the value to them is X (in this case, 1800 AUD). If they could, then sure, the could have charged for the 3k they wanted. - I have a guy who brings me stuff and I pay him for it. When the flip goes well, I send him some extra, because it's an ongoing relationship (and of course I'd want him to think of me when new parts comes). But if it's a one-off, I don't think you've ripped them off at all. I've once bought a rig for $100, which turns out was just a dead GPU. I kept in touch with him, and he was going to just chuck it in the e-waste. To him, that was the value and the fact he didn't have to make that trip, means my $100 was a plus. Our value and their value doesn't always line up and MSRP doesn't always apply here...
