Prince has a lot of great stuff out there. The live performances of "Let's Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain" from the Syracuse concert in 1985 are a must see. His cover of "Motherless Child" is great too.
That was purposeful. You see Rolling Stone magazine published the list of best guitarists and did not include him. When they were doing the posthumous tribute play in chance of the inclusion of George Harrison on hall of fame he accepted the role of playing closing solo came....shredded...and left like a mic drop like "try ignoring this". Because ever since he started play he was compared to Hendrix even called the next Hendrix but he did not want to be seen as only a guitarist so he focused more to show his composing etc but be excluded from list of greatest was infuriating.
Wrong! Prince was inducted into the hall of fame that very night & actually played to open the show. The live producer stated that the original plan was for Prince to play both solos but when the band was rehearsing the first lead guitarist here wouldn't stop playing. The Producer stated as he was about to go over to him to stop so Prince could get some actual rehearsal time with the all star band, Prince told him no and that he would play the last solo on the live showing taping that night. He then left without ever rehearsing with the band.
Prince Masterclass.
Prince is the GOAT. So good. 😊

I've read that this was basically an "improvisational" performance by Prince
Prince also didn’t practice with them so didn’t know what to expect
Without doubt probably the 2nd best guitar solo of all time 1st for me is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits Sultans of Swing Alchemy Live
It s the fist live guitar solo of all time… no dubt.
@@ChristianGencoCHR7 I’m not sure what that means

At the time , Prince had not yet been inducted to RnR hall of Fame. He did this show to to make a point
