Good video. Getting out of Jamaica still seems to be a slow process. Probably the same pace as the historic MP54's, Wonder why speeds can't be increased given today's technology?
I live in New York City but I have never been on the LIRR because I always drove. Why was the conductor telling the passengers to go to the rear 4 cars in the beginning of the video?
The bell is a warning that the cab signals (which govern condition of track ahead) has changed to a more restrictive speed (diverting move or following a train)
Rush hour trains are bigger and usually originate in NY or Brooklyn. Off peak service is a 4 car shuttle from Valley Stream (seen to the right at 11:00 in the yard at Valley Stream when not scheduled)
No way!! The hardest branch and very rare to snatch one! Excellent video! Guess I'm not the only one that has a video of this branch now.
MrMaster767 iwowowo you ok
Sue Jack maybe, just maybe one day soon, it'll be my turn
Love the LIRR, it is like a long distance Rapid Transit line with Diesels :)
It basically is
Great video. I grew up on Long Island and this is the first time I saw that branch. Great job!
A very nice ride on a clear day!
Nice video! I saw that there was an M3 at West Hempstead when I passed on the n15 bus yesterday.
At 7:24 could you imagine if one of those oncoming trains was on the wrong track? Just enough time to see it, but not much to react.
Panic level 📈📈📈
There wouldn't be a reason for that to happen anyway
Looks like they ripped out the 2nd track on the West Hempstead branch. Too bad they didn't leave it intact.
11:50 demolition in progress!!
The cow line on the LIRR. I grew up a few blocks from the Lakeview stop.

Cats01 Mainly due to the many switches at Jamaica.
Nice.
However, the video kept jumping about..speeding up and kinda screwing with the resolution.
0:01 Jamaica
13:38 Westwood
16:03 Malverne
19:14 Lakeview
21:46 Hempstead Gardens
25:17 West Hempstead
The W signs that get passed by mean for operator to blow horn right?
yes
What's that odd looking passenger car at 5:13? Body appears to be a standard P72 but it has Budd car roof ends.
Someone said it's one of the Osgood Bradley American Flyer coaches. Either that's the P69 or P74B type of cars.
The famed west hempstead shuttle
Nice video!
Fun Fact: My old school was near the Lakeview train station.
Eagle avenue middle school? Mine too.
I kinda wish the double decker trains would run to west Hempstead
Why, it's an electric line
Though if it's disabled, the 4 cars would be used, but where exactly will the engineer park the DE/DM locomotive?
What’s the point? This is electrified so only M3s,M7s,and M9s would come here. Unless something happens to the third rail no diesels will ever go here
@@AaronJrBrundidge true, I mean wherever they keep the EMUs parked there, that’s where they’ll keep them but at the same time, emus are only used.
When I started watching the video, the video was shaking. Was the train nervous?
vibration from the neighboring diesel

The platform was too short so only the last 4 cars were loading/unloading would be my guess...
MrMaster767 did the same thing as well
What does the ringing bell mean??
The bell is a warning that the cab signals (which govern condition of track ahead) has changed to a more restrictive speed (diverting move or following a train)
Kendall Brown If the train is at a station, the ringing bell could also be a warning that the doors are closing.
Why 8 cars? Most stations can't even handle 6.
rush hour
Are passengers allowed to move between cars while the train is moving?
Yes. I do it all the time.
Rush hour trains are bigger and usually originate in NY or Brooklyn. Off peak service is a 4 car shuttle from Valley Stream (seen to the right at 11:00 in the yard at Valley Stream when not scheduled)
6 cars, 4 open. LIRR does not run anything shorter than 6 since a 4-car train can gap out in interlockings.
Great catch !!! Talk about rare, that’s not the shuttle one either wow !!
Gotta take the oyster bay line from Jamaica!
Wait if this train uses one track, how does it go the other way?
They can actually go in opposite directions (front or back) and they switch tracks to get to their destinations lol
This is why there need to be a double track to reduce delays
Can someone tell me what RFW stands for?
Railfan window.
I caught one m3 on this branch yesterday
They usually run from Atlantic terminal
@@oofyalDAMMITI know
Hey I like your Video of train
like lirr
Man the station is so run down
Nice video.
