  • With all the work we’ve been doing making hot sauce and apple cider, we decided we needed somewhere to enjoy the fruits of our labour. With a distinct lack of picnic tables on Ben’s country property, we set off to build an easy DIY picnic table. If you want to build your own, check out the links below:

1st of all the tables look great. I was looking at the this old house picnic table build and found your page. Did you guys put a stain or finish on the tables after this video? where did you guys get your lumber from? i'm 6'1" and was wondering if with the cross member what the bench sits on being 73 3/4" if its comfortable sitting there and not hitting your knees on the leg supports or another person from across the table.

Thanks for the feedback! Our table was inspired by the This Old House build along with a couple of others. We didn't actually put a finish on the tables, just leaving it raw to weather for now.
All the materials is just regular deminsional lumber and galvanized hardware from Home Depot
This is definetely a BIG table. I'm 6'4" and find it quite comfortable. No where close to hitting legs or bumping other folks. The only downside is it's also quite HEAVY. Requires at least two people to move it around.

Nice build. Either than the 2x6 bench boards and 2x4 supports, is everything else 2x10s?
