As someone who also comes from a Balkan country and who also left for a better life in Western country - I can't say I blame anyone for leaving. The fact is that these Balkan countries are filled with old people, old thoughts, old traditions and sadly old mindsets. This last thing is what pushed me personally to leave and never look back. Albania, and all other balkan countries are great to visit, to go for a holiday...but to live there? No thanks. Too much bureaucracy that doesn't work, too much corruption and too much primitive mindsets. I personally will not waste my life trying to change people....they're free to think any way they want. And I am free to leave. And so is everyone else....and that's what's happening. Sad but true.
I do agree with the majority of your statement. Even those who left and now live in the West, still inherited the "old mindset". I guess younger generations are thinking differently.
What do you mean old mindsets? I'm curious because I was raised abroad and sometimes I worry about becoming too Westernized, so I'm on the complete opposite spectrum of trying to hold on to my heritage.
@progresstothestars Do these people want to be Germans? Of course not. They don't care for values, they care for the thing their country cannot offer them, which is financial stability: They want safety first (primitive needs) as an individual. Taking into account that values disappear when safety is guaranteed, this influx of people cause a feedback loop, where values disappear more and more. Its also the other way around: The more unsafe a region becomes, the more values (morale, religion, regional Codex like the Kanun in Albania) take over. The West is primitive in the simple kind of way: As long as I get paid and obey the law (not morals!), everything is fine. It reflects the human condition: As long as my materialistic needs are met, everything is fine. That's why it is so successful and in huge demand. The only political topics are about _more_ safety, which only shows its valueless core. Its has a simple philosophy behind it, therefore its the first thing someone understands and must understand. Everything is else is optional. So, yes. The West is first when it comes to materialistic needs, but I think it wants to be seen as being first as a reference to values, which it was when it could only meet the materialistic needs of few. Nobody can have it both ways - simply because of the human condition (and if the human condition is something noble, then proof is needed).

This is the biggest curse of the Balkan. God has blessed us with beautiful people, stunning nature, strong mentality and work ethics - yet, the young generations are fleeing the Balkan countries with a one-way ticket. This is our punishment for all the wars, conflicts and hatred from the past decades. The young people are leaving with full right to do so - they don't want to be a part of the suffering we've been through, and they don't have to. The region's politics must improve now, because this is the last train. Greetings to our Albanian neighbors.

I am from Albania and I feel terribly sad seeing those people smile when they say they want to leave as soon as possible. I don't blame them thought. The salaries are extremly low and the working condtions are not the best. Cost of living is on a raise and there is no way for a student to afford it alone. Goverment on the other hand is doing nothing to stop this from happening actually, sometimes they look like they want the people to leave.
Despite that this documentary is somewhere close to a certain reality, it does not fully define Albania. While it is true that a bunch of youngsters want to leave, there are plenty who settled to the country and are making a difference

As a now disabled RN, immediately struck me how a good horse or donkey would make rural rounds so much easier. In Appalachia midwives relied on horses for a long time. There is nowhere that nurses are well paid, valued and able to raise their children in security in the US and now see is global. Additionally I would never tell a sick elder of the healthcare crisis,it depresses them and demoralizes. I tried to make everyone feel secure, cared for...took a huge toll on my body.
@@Bennnyak That was also a nurse, yes he is low paid. Yes, american nurses are not paid well. Why??? What's wrong with Italian healthcare??? I've always heard that healthcare in Italy is excellent..and Italy is so beautiful. I wouldn't mind living in Italy at all. I'm in the United States BTW.
@@lanaofficiel4042 In Italy healthcare is free for everyone and this is already better than the United States of America. but consider that the waiting lists are endless, doctors and nurses are forced to work endless shifts due to a lack of qualified personnel and what's more they are paid a pittance, so little that they make them leave the country or move to the private sector. You Americans have an old idea of Italy like in those stereotyped films about us. Italy has changed a lot in the last 30 years, we have fallen behind on everything, we are losing our population year after year due to the birth rate and young people are leaving the country. come to Italy to visit it but not to live there because you would realize the backwardness of our mentality.
Italian doctors come to work in Albania because we have a shortage for extremely skilled labor and specialists. They come here for 2-3 days to work for Private hospitals than can pay a lot, then go back to Italy. Not the same thing.
@@CreAnt.Man you are over exaggerating the situation. I live here and we still have one of the best healthcares in the world and doctors in the public sector are paid minimum 7000k a month in hospital when they have few years of experience, yes nurses are a bit underpaid 2000k is the median wage but the new government has injected money to renew their contracts and in the next few months and years the pay will grow to the right level. I know this stuff because I have family members that work in the public healthcare. Of course in the private sector the wages are surely higher.
@@Alexander-rr6yn 7000€ l'anno?
This is literally the same story in every single post-Soviet country. Young people can get medical degrees for very cheap, or for free. Then, they get paid a few hundred euros per month, if they lucky close to one thousand euros per month, maximum, to be a doctor. Or, they can immediately emigrate to Germany, and get paid five to ten times that number, right out of university. Post-Soviet nations healthcare systems are in trouble because all the doctors are pensioners. When I go the hospital in Lithuania, a neoliberal dystopian paradise of GDP blah blah blah, the doctors are never below 55 years old, and I highly doubt they are up to date on the most recent and best practices and medicine advances.

Good way of thinking mate.
If one region is primitive, its the West (born in Bosnia, living in Austria).
@progresstothestars
Do these people want to be Germans?
Great documentary 👍
It's shows the sad truth of what the Albanian youth is going through.
Hopefully this situation will improve asap.

Same happening in Ghana. Most nurses are leaving to Europe to take jobs to take care of the elderly in care homes.
Entire Africa.
These left wing western political parties think they are helping our countries by allowing a lot of immigration, but all they are doing is taking our trained professionals. The political elite knows it very well, but don't care. While the useful idiots that support them think they're helping us.

This is a joke just to get more nurses in Germany because they need them the Albania reality is much better Albania than you can see it on this video belive me no one struggle for a job in Albania just the lazy people they always think outside the contry is because
The government needs to provide free SUVs for rural healthcare workers. This is repulsive.😢
The government likes to steal every single penny out of the people's pockets. You'd be surprised how little attention is given to basic needs like healthcare and education. The only thing important for all politicians is to make bank...

Watching this documentary about my beloved country, Albania, has left me feeling both saddened and nostalgic. Seeing how many young people are leaving the country is truly distressing. However, it also serves as a reminder of the potential that lies within Albania and the need for positive change. Let's work together to create opportunities and a promising future for the next generation. #Albania #HopeForTheFuture"

It is such a pity that anyone needs to leave their country of birth due to economic reasons. Unfortunately it has happened for hundreds of years worldwide and will continue until something changes. No one can blame these young people wanting to leave Albania for a better life.

I am from Albania and I feel terribly sad seeing those people smile when they say they want to leave as soon as possible. I don't blame them thought. The salaries are extremly low and the working condtions are not the best. Cost of living is on a raise and there is no way for a student to afford it alone. Goverment on the other hand is doing nothing to stop this from happening actually, sometimes they look like they want the people to leave.
given no one wants to sacrifice for that situation but him, wish that guy all the best
Despite that this documentary is somewhere close to a certain reality, it does not fully define Albania. While it is true that a bunch of youngsters want to leave, there are plenty who settled to the country and are making a difference
The population is half of what it used to be. More than a million people have left the country in the last 10 years. We have all left!!!!

Nurses in USA are very well compensated. Cry me a river. The doctor in the video is paid 500$ a month!
@@Bennnyak That was also a nurse, yes he is low paid. Yes, american nurses are not paid well. We have mandatory unpaid call time, no health insurance in a bunch of TX jobs and a score of schemes that put you at legal and physical risk. In nursing homes 28-32 pts with 1.5 aide and then being forced to work 20 hrs over 50 pts... no benefits. In the 90's 2 systems merged and eliminated all the pensions of older nurses. The bottom line is that the German market is insatiable and as long as huge differences continue to exist among European countries in terms of wages etc., countries like Albania (and other Eastern European ) have a hard road ahead to hold on to their educated young people.
The world has changed and no country is an island.
Inspiration, dreams, and challenges amid the wish to live a better life as a normal human being. It's very hard to leave loved ones, and memories behind us, and also some challenges in adaptation and other issues in a new country are great hamper.
And italian doctors and nurses are going to albania wtf.
Just to make you understand the dramatic state of italian healthcare.
