Growing up in the Philippines, I looked forward going to school just to be with my friends and then as an adult in USA I also enjoyed hanging out with my Filipino friends. I really can't explain why Filipinos are so much fun, there's just so much laughter, pasyalan, caring, and singing (Karaoke) with the barkadas. And oh not to forget the cooking for each other- thing. There's just so much laughter, we laughed at almost everything and each other. We pick on each other, we give it and we take it as well. I love it.
I find your vlog more authentic than other foreigners who do videos about Metro Manila/the Philippines. You’re right some volggers are OA and end up as nice and phony. By doing vlogs who are not well researched, they are actually doing the country a disservice. So kudos to you dude you have a new subscriber in me.

it's just different flavors. each person has their preferences so i know there's gonna be another side. for example some people can't sleep if it's too quiet so they put on some music or some ambient sounds...so i guess its the same. i like the beach, and i like the city
The Philippines can be a great place to call home because it is so diverse, from the people to the places and even the language. It has many beautiful landscapes, beaches, and thriving cities, and the vibe is just genuine; it's like chilling and relaxing. Perhaps because of their culture, they are ambitious; thus, they are hardworking people; however, they also know how to be content and happy with what they have, and I believe that knowing how to be content and happy is the right way to enjoy life, which is what some of the first-world countries lack. If this country continues to develop and turn into a first-world country, I hope it maintains its island-life vibe. And when you add in the friendly people, anyone can fall in love with this country for sure.
You are lucky to be associated with filipino friends, because you understand the culture, very same vibes as your Chinese upbringing. You became as part of our family, and most welcome wherever you end up in the Philippine. I always say .. Filipinos don't have much but they are kind and happy people. I went to FTX ARENA in Miami (where Miami heat play) To watch Jokoy. It was sold out and filled with different cultures. He said to the audience, " one thing in life, you people should go out there and make friends with Filipinos And something good will happen to you, I swear" The thousands of people in the FTX arena exploded like a thunder of happiness as if they already know something about Filipinos.

I totally agree. My biggest draw to the Philippines is the rapid economic development happening throughout the country like in Cebu and Iloilo. The Philippines is the perfect combination of the modern, cosmopolitan vibe to the provincial, island serene life. In between you have the constant construction, renovation and expansion of lifestyle centers that sees no stopping througout the country. Perfect, eye candy oasis's from the constant heat, humidity and rain. I look forward to retiring in the NCR which by then will have a Metro Manila Subway and the New Manila International Airport.....and even more lifestyle centers and smart cities like Horizon Manila, Arca South, and Bridgetowne.

My friend retired as a nurse here in hawaii for about twenty years and he head just about enough of it and retired three years ago there and hasn’t looked back just like you.His wife is from bohol close to the beach and I thought for sure they were gonna have an island life like you but they couldn’t leave the city life in Quezon City where food and massage and leisure life was so much fun and cheaper..my wife and I plan to do the same but we got our condo in ortigas close to shang ri la and some of the new and older malls there. Our turnover is in March and we can’t wait. We might just hopefully bump into each other if when we visit BGC and we love it there also..Aloha!!

We’ve looked at some of the condos in BGC and they’re all very nice and expensive 😂 but yeah we can’t go wrong with our purchase. Anyways we’ll be there in March of this year and can’t wait to explore the area and BGC as well. Im so happy that you found your peace. When I left the Philippines in 1980s. I was excited for my prospects abroad. The Philippines in the 1980s was not the same as what it is today. It was on life support. I am Happy the motherland is doing much better. Now I want my daughter to experience the Philippines and immerse herself into Philippine culture. It’s good to hear your background story. Your Ma looks like a lovely Filipina by the way. There are many choices of places in the Philippines and they are all good choices if they make you happy. I’ve visited BGC and it’s a brand new and beautiful place. I like that it’s very walkable with its wide sidewalks and a number pocket parks where one can sit and chill. For me though, I prefer to live in the provinces where I can have easy access to the beach and the mountains. I’m glad that you are happy where you are at the moment. Haha, that's funny you say that since the very first time we arrived at the Cebu airport, the guard told her she was in the wrong lane (Tourist) and he tried to escort her to the "right" lane (Domestic). She got quite a good laugh out of that one and that was our family's introduction to the 🇵🇭 Yeah BGC is very walkable and convenient but I do hear you on the desire to live closer to nature, where you have better access to beaches and mountains. Mabuhay. Welcome to our country. Even if you are in the NCR area, there are beaches nearby too like Batangas or Laguna provinces which is south of NCR or MetroManila which is about 3 hours away more or less depending on the traffic or Cavite as well. Then you can drive to Zambales in the north which is about 3 hours more or less away too.

Greeting form the Bayarea! I grew up in ncr so vacationing south to the other islands is quite nice. If you want a bit of the ocean vibe look into Batangas or even Tagaytay, a short drive from BGC and to Batangas. Keep your condo in BGC and drive south in the weekends. You’re still young, lots of opportunities to see the different pocket of beauties the country offers.

@@BGCDreams I know can’t wait for the turnover. We like the beach life but we also love the city life where everything you need is just a few minutes walk away. We’ve looked at some of the condos in BGC and they’re all very nice and expensive 😂 but yeah we can’t go wrong with our purchase. Anyways we’ll be there in March of this year and can’t wait to explore the area and BGC as well. You guys are awesome 👏🏽 keep the vlogs coming and maybe do more about food also and not just BGC area but in its entirety of Metro Manila trust me you guys will come along a lot faster beside you guys make a great duo funny spontaneous as you do your story vlogging relatable.. Im so happy that you found your peace. When I left the Philippines in 1980s. I was excited for my prospects abroad. The Philippines in the 1980s was not the same as what it is today. It was on life support. I am Happy the motherland is doing much better. Now I want my daughter to experience the Philippines and immerse herself into Philippine culture. Hello Jay! Bumped into this appreciation vlog of the Philippines that you made at the start of this year. Thank you very much for your honest assessment of our country. I just hope that one of these days you and Jenny would be able to tour around the more mainstream parts of Metro Manila such as North EDSA, Monumento, Divisoria and Binondo (where I lived since birth). It’s good to hear your background story. Your Ma looks like a lovely Filipina by the way. There are many choices of places in the Philippines and they are all good choices if they make you happy. I’ve visited BGC and it’s a brand new and beautiful place. I like that it’s very walkable with its wide sidewalks and a number pocket parks where one can sit and chill. For me though, I prefer to live in the provinces where I can have easy access to the beach and the mountains. I’m glad that you are happy where you are at the moment. Haha, that's funny you say that since the very first time we arrived at the Cebu airport, the guard told her she was in the wrong lane (Tourist) and he tried to escort her to the "right" lane (Domestic). She got quite a good laugh out of that one and that was our family's introduction to the 🇵🇭
Yeah BGC is very walkable and convenient but I do hear you on the desire to live closer to nature, where you have better access to beaches and mountains. I guess one can't have it all... 😆 Luckily, with the Philippines, it's really not too far or difficult to go from city life back/forth to nature again.

For someone thinking of living here in the Philippines I think it’s best to go to NCR, northern and southern provinces & then decide where you can best settle in.

Mabuhay. Welcome to our country. Even if you are in the NCR area, there are beaches nearby too like Batangas or Laguna provinces which is south of NCR or MetroManila which is about 3 hours away more or less depending on the traffic or Cavite as well. Then you can drive to Zambales in the north which is about 3 hours more or less away too.

What a fresh of breath air when you guys are talking about your preference living an island / province life vs city life. So i love both, but city living like bgc has probably a slight advantage for me. Anyways i bought a condo in bgc and a small farm land in our province just to make sure😊 i watch your vlogs everyday because your living the life that i’m aspiring for in the near future. In terms of stuff, I actually still have a lot of it in Cali and my mom's house and I think even some at an uncle's 😅 I never quite got rid of everything but I did downsize a lot a few years ago when I kinda knew I wouldn't be living in the states year round... Greeting form the Bayarea! I grew up in ncr so vacationing south to the other islands is quite nice. If you want a bit of the ocean vibe look into Batangas or even Tagaytay, a short drive from BGC and to Batangas. Keep your condo in BGC and drive south in the weekends. You’re still young, lots of opportunities to see the different pocket of beauties the country offers.

I understand what you mean when you lived in hkg changed your perspective living in the city. I worked in hkg for an airline and I liked how each area has a small community where everything is there so when I left the airline I now live in Eastwood city which is like hkg living
