I’m on level one and full time. I’ll buy out collections occasionally both locally and by mail but that’s few and far between. I’m mainly a vinyl/cassette/cd seller. In some categories you are literally in level one with five peppered in with no in between. 60 percent of my business is music media and the other 40 percent is vintage items I source while I’m looking for my category.

    Five Levels of Sourcing
    1. Garage Sales and Thrift Stores
    2. Pawn Shops, Retail Arbitrage, Local Auctions, Storage Units
    3. Pursuing collection buys and store buyouts in your area
    4. Sourcing online to save time
    5. Collections from around the country or world come to your doorstep

Currently not able to resell due to health challenges, but I was doing 1 - 3 (smaller collection buyouts) on a very part time basis. Thanks for the great content God bless Chase and Mat and families!!!

A good friend of mine died a few years ago after a yearlong struggle with a very rare yet highly aggressive form of cancer. He was a huge Pokémon fan and left his collection to me, so my first Pokémon game was Silver since Ledyba is my favorite :) That one and the GBA games are definitely my favorites.

Definitely level 1 / 2; garage sales, thrifting, pawn shops, etc. One thing I will call out are conventions. We have 'collecting' conventions and comic cons in our area, and I have never left one without several very profitable items, not to mention that cons are super fun to attend. Make sure to include the entry fees in your cost basis though 😁

I am mostly a collector. But you have taught me quite a bit Chase. Mainly in the parts of keeping your margins healthy and steady, bolo hunts, buying collections. Especially when it comes down to selling the stuff i don't need anymore, it is nice to know that i bough it for a great price. Making it more possible for me to sell it for a better price or lower the price a bit if i want to get rid of it quickly.
I honestly feel my collection would be a lot smaller if i had not learned about the stuff you share out here in the open. Thus, thank you for all the free info. :)

I spend time on all levels.. it just depends what's on the table. I don't like going to garage sales every week, because it can be very time/energy consuming.. and often I end up with stuff I'm not necessarily after. I've watched your videos, and I know you guys kill it at garage sales. I'm going to be reaching out soon to ask about inventory management. I have been struggling every year to put an exact figure on my remaining inventory at the beginning of every year at cost. I'd like to discuss some things soon.

Great video bud. I got in good with a few storage unit buyers and there always bringing me good stuff for a fair price. They are not video game people at all so it works out for both of us

I am at level too but close to mastering to it. I getting crazy garage sale finds. Like twice spent 60 to 80 and got value of 1000 each. I have been passing out business cards. Trying to build business to pay off debt and built my collection. Half goes toward house fund half goes toward my game fund. Deal I made with my wife.

I would have to say that the highest stage I have gotten to is LV 4, but due to rough times with losing most of my collection due to problems with storage. I am now stuck waffling back and forth between stages 1-3 depending on my funds. Saved up a collection of items to later sell to help me purchase a home for it all to just turn around and see it disappear with nothing I could do about it. Long story short, put my collection into storage (that was owned by my mother), moved for work, made sure the storage was paid for with me sending money to cover it, had an accident at work that caused me to become disabled, came home after months of therapy and court issues that nearly crippled me financially, to find that the storage unit I had my items in was sold at auction when my mother "forgot" to pay it for 2 months..... I lost so much that it was parts of my collection I could never afford again. Now I am on SSI trying to rent a trailer and collect games again, but with such limited income anything more than $25 for a game every few weeks cuts into my monthly budget. I do love watching these videos, I like to see just how amazing it is to see what you guys will find next that it really is amazing to see just how much I have missed out on if I didn't move for my work or would have taken my collection with me and not lost it.

Not sure what level I'm at doing lots of Facebook market deals and I do have a nice hand full of people who sell me lots of games when they come across them and some regulars who buy from me from time to time. My biggest issue is organization, still trying to master a A+++ system to maximize my time. Love your videos very helpful and entertaining always look forward to the next.

Really trying to do Level 3. Committed to getting business cards made and now I’m looking for connections for buyouts. Goal is to reduce the time I spend sourcing while still increasing my net profit.

I love this video! So I started my resell journey with a ps4 from an old job and it had the Godzilla disc inside of it. I did some level one and two but I do mostly level 4 right now. I just picked up some bigger lots for me (like 150-200 games) for less that $2 a game. Love your videos dude!

I think this list depends on what you sell. I do clothing and there’s no short supply of good pieces. So at level 1 I can work about 5-6 hours a day and completely pay the bills.
Reselling as my full time job with my wife and we love it!
Still making connections is the way to go in any category and I look forward to being at level 5 one day!

  • @chrisandedina

I think many resellers don't pass level 1. Which is fine if you are part time or our an everything reseller. We are level 3 but would not be without our Facebook page. Without having a Facebook for people to come to level 3 would be tricky for us.
