    Oh my gosh! Italy! How exciting 😀 I can't wait for your adventures there. My husband and I have thought about moving abroad, but we haven't landed on how to do that yet.

      Really?! I love that! Life is too short to spend in one place. Because I qualify for citizenship and we both love Italy, I said why not?! My husband also qualifies but I'm the guinea pig I suppose 😊 I imagine it's going to take about another year at least? I'm only 6 months in. Have you traveled internationally? There's so much to explore! Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸 I'm at the condo now and it's already non stop fireworks. There's a firework show tonight at the Hollywood bowl so we'll be able to enjoy the show from here 😊

      @NonnasCleanGetaway I've only traveled to Austria and Hungary, but my husband was well traveled when he was in the Army. I agree, it's a big world. I am a home body, though. I know I need the comfort of home, so that seems to stop me. Maybe we'll find the right place abroad sometime. I know when I was in Austria I didn't want to leave. It's just a different way of life and I really want that. Our American ways are not always the best way to live.

      I haven't been to Hungary, but I have been to Austria. I took my mom to Paris two years ago and one thing that she noticed is how much better the food tastes. They are picky about what goes into their food. I feel like in America, you can usually follow the dollar to know why they allow things to happen. Profits over health. Tell your husband, thank you for his service for us! ❤ That is so cool that he got to explore the world too. I know what you mean about being very comfortable at home. It is very stressful to move even across town. By the way, did you get settled into your new place? It takes a little while to make a new place. Feel like home. A friend of mine many years ago when I moved to Los Angeles and felt very homesick, she said to always give it six months, and then allow yourself to move back if you don't like it then. And I would say that that's the right amount of time to give yourself. It was around the 3 to 4 month mark that I never looked back. So I am mentally prepared for the shock of moving to Italy, but I am going to follow that advice definitely. By the way, I love your name!

      @NonnasCleanGetaway thank you :-)
      Funny story, my "grandma" name was going to be Nona, but my grandson would call me Nina (guess because he heard people call me Mia), so I was almost a Nona but now im a Nina. 🩵sadly, we're not moved yet. My wrist set us back in a couple of ways. Mainly that I had to rest and recover from the fall and surgery, but also because I couldn't be there at the new house (1 1/2 hrs away) for the plumber to finish the work needed for us to move in. The house was in the middle of a complete remodel of the kitchen and full bath when we bought it (why we got a good deal on the house), so we've had to coordinate the electrical work and plumbing. Currently, there's no water because the previous owner was doing it himself and was not really qualified to do so. We're getting back on track though, the Plumber is coming back next week, and then we can drywall and finish the walls and floors. We have movers scheduled for August 1 and 2nd.

      Nina is also beautiful! Well, the more time that is needed before you have to do any work at the new house is much better for your wrist. I am glad that you are fixing everything to high standards. I'm sure when that house showed, many people did not want to do any work. A lot of people want turnkey houses. At least you will be able to make it your own. When we go to buy a house in Italy, I don't want to have to do anything major but I wouldn't mind buying a house that just needs some love. But who knows, sometimes it's too good of a price! My husband wants a lake view so we might find a property with a beautiful view, but needs major work 🤷🏼‍♀️ Contractors are so expensive!

      Thanks! Yea, I feel like deep cleaning bathrooms are straightforward, boring, and time consuming. I'm most excited to do part 2 of the bathroom. I hope it turns out as simple, functional, and refreshing like I'm imagining. 🤔

    Will you keep your Atlanta Georgia home if you love to Italy?

      Hi Nellie, That's a good question. If my youngest stays in the ATL area, we'll definitely keep it. But our plan is to sell it when we retire in Italy. Our condo in LA will be our home-base. It has so many amenities that we could enjoy when we retire. And there wouldn't be a yard to have to take care of! It's hard to leave a house for several months, but the condo is such low maintenance. Thanks for a great question! Of course things can change. See you in my next video 😀
