What's odd is the narration is only on the right track and the music is on both making it seem twice as loud.

@4:40 With CTRL-SHIFT-V we create instance, not CTRL-SHIFT-C, just in case anyone gets confused :) Good tut, thanks! Also, as others said, music is too loud, so next time make sure its really subtle, barely noticeable.

The tutorial is not clear. You have to consider there are people that are trying this for the first time, every step you take should be explained. Zooming in/out, How the text is generated in the edit canvas. I had to go to your dancing text to see that. Please redo this video and be patient, take each step. We are on your channel because we want to learn, If we already knew these steps, we wouldn't be here. Thanks.
The things you mention are not learned in particle tutorials. They are more the basic stuff on how you work in Fusion. Every tutorial can't start from zero-that would be incredibly inefficient. You'll find what you need if you search for it.
If you need help in the very basics of basic I recommend not starting on these video for help... There are plenty of videos that would help with that but dont skip steps
To be frank, I couldn't understand it.
This is totally bullshit, he cant explain every single thing, bcs people who understand basics wouldnt learn anything from it, because it would have more than one hour...

@4:47 Ctrl-Shift-V to create an instance in Windows, Cmd-Shift-V to create an instance in MacOS.
cmd shift V is creating a merge node for me, how do I fix this?

I had the same problem as many others, the polygon/matte thing didn't wipe the text, the text stayed there the whole time.
After spending forever trying to get the instance to deInstance I found that the instanced version's position was reversed with its original. Gave up thereafter.
Admittedly, I did learn a slight thing or two from this video but it's infuriatingly frustrating dealing with his teaching approach.

Great effect, but please - that music has to go! Secondly I think there is a step missing as my MatteControl does not create same results. So, being a noob I'm stuck and frustrated...

The size of the polygon is not increasing .I'm not sure how you did it with mouse controls. I tried to increase size in Inspector but polygon drifts away from its position. Pls help how to do it.

Could this also be done with a colored image, like a logo for instance and having the particles be the colors of the logo that make the logo appear? If so would you have or make a tutorial on this?

Thank you for posting this video, I used the effect in my latest TH-cam video.
I very much appreciate your effort, please continue sharing your work.
I made the following observations:
1. Delete the Node if you can’t get it to cooperate. Nodes can become corrupted. If you have everything correct just delete the node and start over. However amusing, anything else is like Kung-Fu kicking yourself in the head.
2. Keyboard layouts differ regionally (ref: Control and Command keys).
3. Watch the video in 1080p. If you are able to see the graphics clearly, it provides the same information as Text.Output to Merge.Foreground. Everything else is simply configuring how the nodes respond.
4. Music. It is necessary to whistle along with the music track to fully appreciate it. Whistle while you work.
5. I found the video dialog easy to understand, everyone I know talks like him.
6. Deutsches Bier ist das Beste, Binding (Frankfurt) und Pfungstädter, Bürgerbräu (Bad Windsheim) und Würzburg Hofbräu, Bronnbacher und HeidelBerger, Warsteiner und Ayinger, Kiesel Bräu und Charlottenburger Pilsner.
Cool affect. I have a problem though. I have followed your instructions to the letter, but when I move the timeline back and forth (4.10) the polygon does not mask anything like yours. Do I need to activate or switch anything on???

Yes I am having trouble with the mattte control 1. @4:10 in the video I get a black hole with the polygon. What setting am I missing? I followed your video the whole way through several times and I cannot figure out that simple part either with the matte control 1 or the polygon's black hole. Please help.
It sounds like when you connect the polygon1 to the mattecontrol you are connecting it to the wrong connection point on the mattecontrol. Make sure when you drag the output of the polygon down to the mattecontrol that you connect it to the GarbageMatte connection point. If you hover your cursor over each of the triangles a name of that input will appear. For example the green triangle input is the Foreground. Hope that helps.

Total newb question and sorry if it’s dumb I’m am new to editing. So if I build this with my own text is it possible to save it to use as a intro in my videos or would I have to build it each time I want to use it?? Thank you for any help.

to everyone having problems with the mask, pay close attention where the lines connect to each node! I had the same problem with black behind the text but i connected the Polygon white box to the white matte control 1 but it should be white to gray! problem solved

This effect is very cool. I did every single thing you said, checked the node connects, went slowly, and as soon as you added the particle dots and the orange color all of a sudden it wasn't showing on my preview anymore. My final looks like plain text.

Hi, i'm writing you from Portugal, I have the free version of Davinci Resolve 15.
I have a major problem on this Text Particle Animation. When i`m on my half way, i lose the image on the effects. that i am supposed to see has i`m going farther. There is an alarm symbol that says: MediaOut cannot get Parameter for Impot at this time 0.MetteControl1-1cannot get DoD for for Background at tome 146 and 165. MatteControl1-1 failed at time165. Can you hellp me what that means, and what do i have to do to resolve it ??

Everything was easy except the MatteControl node. I made sure the polygon was attached to the garbage matte node of the Matte Control but I still didn't get the masking.
IN MY RESOLVE 15 MATTE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING DID EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE VIDEO?
Nice video ! Is it possible to do the same thing but with a picture/logo instead of the text? If yes, how? I tried to find corresponding nodes in the fusion tab but I couldn't find anything :(

Guys, make sure you're connecting the nodes correctly. The colours do matter and each colour if for a specific function. Watch the video carefully. Ex. Polygon goes to garbage of matte node.

Nice tutorial, I'm barely start use Davinci resolve, it took me 2 tries to completed but the result worth it, just make sure do you connect the nodes in the right place

How to save a project to titles DaVinci Resolve 15?
I cant see the text in the windows above, how do I do that? Display or view the text in the windows left and right, its just dark..

does not seem to work for me at all. If I choose black like you then my color for the particles changes to black. I am using Davinci 16 if that makes any difference.
Thanks for all the time you took to make this turorial it is easy for me to follow except for this part. With out this action completed the particales keep active when you want them to stop to see the whole TEXT.

Actually, I just redid it and it worked. Watch very very very closely where he clicks when adding the black. The little white triangles are VERY important to get right

About 4 minutes in your working with the Matte Control object. When you play the track the text disappears, when I do it the test stays there and a black box in the back behind the text gets smaller. Also like the polygon is not attaching it self to the text.
Where can i change how fast the letters appear?

You can set the particle lifetime and you can change the length of the whole clip in the edit section.

Thank you for this tutorial. It is a nice effect and it is good to know how to create this. One hint: You are sometimes telling to change setting xy. But you are changing x, y, a, b, c. If noobs like me are following your instructions life, we are sometimes missing information, wondering about the different results and have to repeat some steps again and again. Better to tell us all steps and not only one of three. :-)
Is this done on the free version or fusion version?

Can anybody tell me what do I do wrong? After connecting the matte control node 4:05' with polygon and the rest, I have black shape behind the text. It increases as I play but behind text, not affecting it at all. Thanks

great tutorial... my surface pro 5 sucks and render is taking forever! Otherwise really cool and good job showing all steps.
FYI... I don't think I'll be able to have success with DR15... I have a Surface Pro, Processor i7-7660U CPU @ 2.50GHz 16.0 GB Installed Ram.... render time on this has already climbed over 15 hours and growing
why do you need to create a instance poly if you just deinstace it after?? curious thanks for the cool tutorial!

I cant get the emitter to show on screen, the first mattecontrol exept the 2nd one and all the particle effects, I dont know what to do, I've completed the whole video, followed all the steps you showed even if i couldn't see anything, I just don't get it
