Snow, wind, cold... if we add darkness, so that headlamp have to be added, then it will be typical Winter after-work run in Canada. Thanks for this video, Daniel! :)
Congrats on getting out in this weather ! I thought I would love to run in the snow, I imagined it would be magical and I would feel like a white bunny in the forest, at one with nature and the elements. Turns out, it's cold, slippery and a general pain. Who'd have guessed ? 😜
Ive had my first couple proper snow runs this past week and have loved it :D. Now when the snow started melting and all that was left was a layer of ice that wasnt so ideal but guess thats the price you have to pay :D
If you're still on the lookout for cold weather gear, I'd highly recommend getting one of these light tube scarf thingys (if you don't have one yet). They're super versatile, on my coldest runs (about -5 C in south Germany) I'll usually wear one rolled up as a headband, then another one pulled up over my chin and over my neck, then a very light running hat over that. No skin on your neck is exposed, the ears stay nice and warm, and once you get warmed up you can pull down the scarf so your neck gets some air. Or just roll it around your arm if it's still too warm (same goes for the headband). I'd wear that over a balaclava any day, but in the end it's just personal preference
Crazy stuff Daniel! I just had a race last weekend with -15f wind chill. I was using a buff around my face when running into the headwind… had no idea that it would freeze solid from my breath.
Hmm, Strava never gives me a congratulations for doing my longest distance. I know this will sound strange but if you are not motivated at all even after watching all the YT videos . . . just do something else. But it needs discipline more than motivation. We all know the saying that success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. The first thing is to SHOW UP . . . And what many of us need is a friend that helps give us accountability and we them. I had a friend that got me to climb a mountain every Wednesday for a few months till it started snowing and that helped a LOT because we had a schedule . . . Now it's winter so it will be hard to start doing that again next summer if we get busy doing other things. One thing that motivated me was he was a stronger hiker so I did trail running during the week so I could catch up to his stamina and it worked and it was fun beating him to the top and listening to him complain for a change.
sounds like you might benefit from some merino running gear daniel, will help regulate your temperature, retain some heat when wet and doesn't get whiffy
Do you have a mantra when running? Or you steal with pride from Phily and just “love the grind”? 😄 Fun if you would like to share it with us and maybe end every video with it like Phily does. Otherwise - great video as always!!! (I have definitely been stolen a mantra or two from Phily, love them)
Yes Sidecar is the apple term 😂 always have to be different, but yes was considering getting a iPad Pro but super expensive compared to a travel screen but also a lot more useful on its own 😂
Send help???? that was so funny. Very courageous to run under such weather, but at least it was clear. I liked your workout, but i felt for you when nobody asked how much miles you were going to run, each has his own abilities and showing some interest and some support would have been nice, good you took it well, hard to compete with elite and quite unfair, not like you are not doing great efforts yourself. Did your VO2 Max, and your heart rate bits improved? did you feel any benefits? Great video, thank you. Keep the grind.
Daniel: “This hill is kicking my butt”, meanwhile continues to professionally narrate in a conversational manner. I would say you’re crushing it 🎉😂
This made me smile 😂 but you didn’t see my HR after filming this clip 😉

Hi Daniel, your voice is really nice to listen to, have you ever thought about doing a podcast?
Also really nice video 😊💪
Daniel, I said this on Phily's video. I've said this to you on Instagram. And I'll say it again to you here. You're a good bloke.

Literally my thinking too! I love the snow but not so ideal for running 😂

My best windchill hack… start out wearing ski goggles, then place them on your head after you’re warmed up. Nice and toasty! Balaclava for sure!
"Thanks for asking how far I'm running, guys" LOL
Great stuff, Daniel! I hope that by the time you do your half, Phily 's camera skills will be as good as your running!
😂😂😂

Probably a record for most whinges in a video on this channel. Way to persevere, Daniel! 🏆
Brilliant stuff. Loved also Houston video. You're crushing it.
Thank you!

Sounds like I do! 🫡
Thats a lot of layers for that weather 😆
Already looking forward to the HM vid, it's going to be awesome.
Thank you! Getting a little nervous now 😂

On travel monitors I used one with work when I was an auditor. I think we had a Lenovo one and it was great.
Oh cool I will look into it!
Philly yay it is fun so nice than Daniel SEND HELP GUYS
Daniel, great job of just going out and doing it! Once you get started it makes it easier. Cool running gear....wonder where you got that??😉
Thank you, and absolutely starting is the hardest part! And yes I do wonder… 🤔
Was it cold by any chance?
Yes!!!
@@DanielMovesI think this phily chick likes u bro
I love my Asus zenscreen portable monitor. It’s 15” and fits in most tech bags pretty comfortably ~ $140
Ooo will look at this!
One of my teammates ran in shorts and a sweatshirt in this weather.
lol, minute 8 .. everybody is alive 😁
It was quite rough ngl 😂 not many happy faces that day!
For a second screen have you tried screen mirroring? I don't use a Mac, but think you should be able to screen cast to either a tablet or a smart TV.
Yes Sidecar is the apple term 😂 always have to be different, but yes was considering getting a iPad Pro but super expensive compared to a travel screen but also a lot more useful on its own 😂
Or use the TV where you're staying? @DanielMoves
Hi Daniel - what’s your next race?
Wilmslow Half marathon 👌🏽
@@DanielMoves - definitely expecting a PB following all that altitude training!
6 inches eh? The perfect amount, some would say.
🫡
if you have an iPad - extend the Mac desktop to an iPad screen
There's already a market for non-elite runners in Kenia so why not do it in the US as well.
This is a good shout!
No more Strava uploads? 😢
Send help???? that was so funny.
