Pleased you guys are back with great holiday stories, I wanted to ask you both do you ever make holiday friends??
Ha. I’m not sure what this means? Does it just mean like take a side trip to see and meet a theater enthusiast while out for business or personal vacation? I have and like to when it works out!
Sounds perfect this time boys!
Fantastic! Thanks for the feedback!
I have one question and a suggestion for a future streaming topic. My question first. Are either of you considering starting up a Patreon? I would love to contribute to your amazing platform. My streaming suggestion is, would you consider doing a comparison between the Epson LS 12,000 and the new Epson QB1000 projector? I think Jonathan has a ton of insight on the LS 12,000 and it would be absolutely amazing to hear what his thoughts are in comparison to the new model that is coming out shortly.
I would love to do that A/B review between the LS12000 and the QB1000. I've reached out to Epson sales via an e-mail to ask if I could borrow one for review, but haven't heard back. I'm not on anyone's radar yet. Too small a channel. As to the Patreon. that's a nice offer. The first I've actually received. I'll have to look into it. I don't know much about it at this time. Ryan doesn't have one either. We appreciate you watching our comment and providing your feedback!
Great video again. Thanks guys.
Hey, can you guys give any more details on the madvr envy core for next week episode
We can try to do so. That’s right up Ryan’s alley since he works for MadVR!
@Jonathan, I think the downsides that you are mentioning with 2 stackable projectors is a solvable problem with a little effort:
1) The bass kicking the projectors out of alignment: we can use a stacking rig that Epson provides for large venue projectors or we can even create a shelf and bolt both projectors into the wood so that they don’t move relative to each other
2) using a single 6000 lumens Epson projector for a $5k more than 2 stackable projectors: well, when the prices come down, we can still use 2 of them to get 12000 lumens! HDR is always light hungry for a projector system and you won’t go wrong.
3) Aspect ratio management: This problem can be easily fixed with an external processor like Lumagen or MadVR which will make sure that a constant aspect ratio is always outputted regardless of the input aspect ratio since we are not using lens memories anymore Also, we can still calibrate the whole system for HDR just like for a flat panel TV.
4) Menus for both projector misaligned: I don’t understand the problem. If we are using the same model of Epson, won’t the menus also converge and apply to both the projectors at once? If initially we want to calibrate each projector separately, we will turn off one of the projectors. After that, both the projectors will be turned on together at the same time with press of the single remote button. When we calibrate with a light meter, we will get the combined light output and the readings
anyway.
Am I missing something with this setup? The images Avatar HDR with single vs dual projectors is quite stunning. I feel this is probably worth for a projector’s HDR performance. Let me know your thoughts on my comments.
I prefer just having the two of you. It's tight and doesn't feel as bloated as before. I wouldn't mind it longer but I understand.
@@John-ok8ts hey thanks for the comment. I don’t think Ryan nor I feel like the 3 hour format was a good match for where we are in our lives with other responsibilities. It became more of a chore, and displaced other things we might like to do with our families on Sunday evening - including just relaxing before the work week started. An hour to an hour and a half is more manageable. I do plan to continue with the other three guys from the Kansas City group as well - likely on Tuesday nights for now. We will have a livestream tomorrow talking more about Ryan’s room and our dual projector experimentation with the whole group that was there. (Ryan/Chirpie, Sheldon/carp, and Tim/stitch1)
@@jvonengeln Yea that's perfectly understandable. Not sure I could get away for 3 hours on Sunday night either lol
@@jvonengeln too many carpets to clean....
When are we going to see Ryan’s HT since he has made all the changes in his layout and we are excited to see the changes?
He still putting on finishing touches. When it’s finished and buttoned up, perhaps I can go do a home theater tour on camera and share with everyone!
Thanks for your reply
It’s a crying shame MWAVE is most likely no more. That event was the best home theater event
@@ChadAV69 I think Ryan’s plan is to continue it.
I loved my visit to KC for Mwave would love for it to keep growing.
Thanks for the cool tracks- do you guys think the audio quality in tidal sounds better than apple tv?
I’ve never purchased tidal to compare, but I have heard the Apple Music HD Spatial Audio list is much bigger and growing faster than Tidal! Thanks for the superchat. It is appreciated!
I’ve tried Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon hd, and had Qobuz on my phone but it wasn’t compatible with my Apple TV 4K if I remember correctly. At first I thought tidal was better until I realized it was a few db louder. When I level matched them I couldn’t tell any difference in quality between the 3. I will say that apples interface is so much better imo.
That could make a cool show in the future. Battle of the music streaming apps. I would be curious to see some actual measurements.
In My Secret Life by Leonard Cohen and Any Place by Bahamas are good demo songs.
Ryan, can you share your playlist link from Tidal?
I sent this note to Ryan in a text message so he can reply here if he likes, but just so you know this is Jonathan's Channel. Ryan's channel is Home Theater Savants.
At the theatre where I work we have an Epson EB-L1505u laser projector with stacking frame with camera for auto setting multiple projectors. I never used it, but it's not really for stacking images and more for edge blending projectors. With Edge blending you overlap the edges of the projectors and gradient that part of the output to make the seems between the projectors invisible. We use this feature mostly to create a picture on surfaces with an uncommon aspect ratio, like a back wall of a stage or a building, not really to create higher output. Edge blending projectors is always difficult, because the only time the images are the same is when the projectors are new. Maybe Ryan Chirpie can try a professional projector like the Epson EB-PU1008W (not sure if the north American type is the same), or the much more expensive but also better EB-PQ2008B.
I sent him this comment so he wouldn’t miss it!
@@jvonengeln Thank you, I hope it helps. Today I noticed that in the same class as the new Epson QB1000 and the LS12000, Epson also released QL series with higher light output, the QL3000 (6000Lm) and the QL7000 (10000Lm).
Once you post the findings of the double projector results kindly comment here so we can find it.

Your projector field trip would have been a great TH-cam video
Sounds like National Lampoon's Vacation 😂
@@bigjack79 it was just as you say
chocolate chip trip..... heard you like experiencing tinnitus ... that high pitched chirp is so loud....
Haha. Wimpy. ;)
Have you figured out how to download Atmos tracks to a USB drive? I'd like to have a few for demos.
I haven’t looked into that. I use the Apple Music HD streaming service. It’s $11 a month. You can try it for three months three. I highly recommend it. Buy an Apple 4K TV for about a hundred bucks:! Then get the three month free trial they offer. My bet is you’ll never look back. It’s such a fun way to listen to music!
