Genuine asylum seekers are typically people fleeing oppression and persecution in their home country like wars, so just being able to leave that situation is a relief. These are just folks finding out US taxpayers are paying for free housing until they can get one, free healthcare until they can afford one, and even stipends and pocket money and whatnot until they can finally work as a cleaner making the same amount of money as the nurses back home. These are economic illegal migrants wanting a better life for themselves, but at our, legal tax-paying citizens, expense.

Good observations. As migrants are given more resources, the situation will become explosive. You're seeing it in NYC already. The mayor has very publicly announced that NYC will be looking at spending $12 billion on 100K migrants. Considering that is a tiny fraction of those that have come in the past few years, the situation is not tenable.

Yeah, this is exactly why people are having a problem with an influx of migrants. We're teetering on a recession, the average person is scrapping by to pay their rent or mortgage, and now people who are escaping their own problems are coming in by the thousands. Open borders is never a good idea, and even though ours technically isn't wide open like driving to another state, it's damn near close to it.

New York City cuts expenses in vulnerable places to get billions for Asylum Seekers.
The cost of housing migrants in NYC is extraordinary - "We are past the breaking point" - NYC projects a $12 billion migrant bill.
Detailed single bill: $383 per night, including food, housing, and medical care (all free for migrants), said Mayor Adams on August, the 9th.
To manage those expenses, Adams says the city plans to trim services such as library hours, meals for senior citizens, re-entry programming for Rikers Island prisoners, and free, full-day care for three-year-olds.
Now NYC is considering housing migrants in tents in CENTRAL PARK - as 500 flood into the city every day.
The plan also considers 3,000 locations in New York, including tourist public green spaces, as places to erect emergency housing for the migrants.
Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isaom said 'Everything is on the table'.
