Completely agree with you on Lionel’s 2-8-0 game. They’ve only made 2 scale classes of consolidations, the Pennsylvania H-10 and the one that you have, which is based on similar classes that the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific had. With the 2-8-0 being one of the most popular locomotives during the days of steam, along with all of the great variations/classes of it across many different railroads, it’d be nice to see Lionel come out with some new scale classes of 2-8-0s.
Nice Loco, Ryan. That is one of the more affordable ones that Lionel makes. I love the glowing Firebox and Operating Steam Whistle! Thanks for Sharing!
Sorry about your cat. Good review Ryan! Lionel did a good job on this locomotive, I just wish they put the bell in the right place. Looking forward to your customization of this engine. - Ryan
Very nice! That is a pretty locomotive, for sure. It seems to be a very good runner and the smoke and whistle sound pretty cool. The crew talk, nah. I''m sure that you can do the mods on it, to make it more prototypical. An excellent video, as always.
Could you please explain the lion chief motor part. Are they really well made?I have heard the new ex MTH mikado has problems with the drive rods /motor.
She’s a nice engine. I wonder if Lionel will make a “traditional” version, kind of like what they did with the USRA 0-8-0? Just shrink her down slightly and make her either in simple detailed form for starter sets, or a more detailed version for those who want something with a little more bite?
@@rystrains.6405 I already have a special undecorated 0-8-0 #99. She is getting a makeover as we speak to my fictional railroad. Would be nice to see more LionChief and LionChief Plus undecorated locos, like an LC+ NW-2.

Maybe some CN versions? I think CN rostered a rather large fleet of 2-8-0 versions, which would be good for subsidiaries GT/GTW, DW&P and CV.

They made a C&O 701 2 8 0, the prototype is on display in covington va. It has the flying number boards, it was a older release.
Well done video
Sorry to hear about your cat ,good looking engine 👍 looks great on layout
thank you
I got my ex MTH tooling 2-8-0 in NYC Central. Lionel did a great job and I hope they redo the Chessie like the one MTH did.
Is it a good runner Douglas?
@@huntercoleman460 yes sir. Those new Lionchief motors run like a Rolex. You get the MTH durability with the tooling but without the weight and drag.

@@williamkolina3988 lionchief motors are maintenance free and can survive the abuse of kids. The run very smooth and are quiet responsive.
