Dimash has indeed a cheeky and funny side to him. There is proof for both in other videos: For his cheeky side in the music video of Be With Me, for his audience interaction in his performance of Screaming at Idol Hits.
Unfortunately you've only seen performances from important events or TV shows where Dimash has certain expectations put on him.
If you really want to see him let loose and have fun then you should watch something from his solo concerts. You get a whole different Dimash!

Just some background on the cuts that you saw. This is a reality show/singing competition, everyone except Dimash is from China and already famous in China for singing, Dimash was a wildcard and not known in China at all, he was also the youngest to ever be on this show. The cuts, when the background was bright, it was the other famous singers (being blown away), the dark was the audience . The original was sung by Vita’s, it’s a Russian song and has won many award’s, when you see the back room people lose it, it’s because Dimash took it higher twice than the original singer Vitas . There was a legal copyright issue connected with this, Vitas wasn’t happy about being outperformed with his song❤. Loved your reaction! Please watch Screaming Idol Hits, definitely a fun side of Dimash and you will see the energy that he has in concert, Screaming is the song that he end’s concerts with, definitely a song you will like, I will attach it ❤. This was his second performance in that competition, the first was SOS, 600 million people watched that performance, he was an overnight sensation, literally had security guard’s for his protection, and he knew nothing about it until he saw the crowd outside the hotel. The man that was in the audience that threw his arm, like saying Yes!, is Dimash’s dad, Dimash didn’t know that his father was there at all, there’s an extended video that shows all of that.

Great reaction Phil snd Sam. I really enjoy this performance from Dimash for the reasons you mentioned. It shows a less serious side, enjoying the singing and having fun with the audience and his competition. Of course, his vocals are exceptional as usual with Dimash. It's my understanding that he came in 2nd place in this competition because the rules were set up so only a Chinese born singer could win. The rules were changed the following year.

This was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017. The song is in Russian. A language he speaks fluently.
I love this video because he still seems so innocent. Just a boy and he doesn't seem as serious as he does now and then. He still looks unconcerned. I think what's happening today is giving him a lot of trouble.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional.

During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.

He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance is my absolute favourite🥰. I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I have gasping breath all the time. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so demanding and commanding😱. There he is such a Beast😳! It’s absolutely stunning. Gasping and racing heart and I’m not even talking about him singing. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

Yes, this was in China at the I Am Singer contest. The man at the end in the audience is Dimash's father. Also, this song is a cover of the Russian singer Vitas. Vitas raised the note once, Dimash does it and additional 3 times. Since this came out, Vitas contacted Dimash and asked him not to sing it again. Same as Lionel Richie asking Dimash not to sing Hello after hearing Dimash sing it in the same contest here. LOL, not too bright if you ask me, it's flattery and it reignites the song.

So, the gentleman in the shadows who fist-pumped at the end of Dimash’s performance was Kanat - Dimash’s dad - who had flown to China to surprise Dimash. At that time, he was “hidden in plain sight” in the shadows of the audience and Dimash was unaware his dad was there. In the extended cut of this performance, the situation was explained and the reunion between father and son was made with Dimash asking his father if he sang okay. Very sweet moment, demonstrating a bit of Dimash’s embarrassment for “flirting” on stage with his dad in the audience. The original version of this song was sang by russian singer Vitas. And this song is very, very popular and loved in China. But Dimash isn't just sing it. What you don't get in this version of the video is that his father is in the audience (secretly flew in from Kazakstan) and the boyishness of him asking if he sang well to his dad.
Also this song is originally Vitas's song (Russian singer/song writer) and Dimash blows his version away. And Vitas's people have placed a cease and desist on Dimash to never perform his songs again. I would have loved to have caught this one in-person.

No, she is correct. Never before has there been a male singer with the range and diverse abilities Dimash has. He's a once in a century singer/performer.... perhaps once in a millennium. Any vocal coach, opera singer, etc, etc would agree with my comment, as is obvious from reactions to him by hundreds of such people. Yes, he has a lot of fun with this song, but he did it so much better than Vitas (who made it popular) that Dimash was sued by the composer of the song, and so cannot sing it again.

I found your channel as it recommended Freebird by Lynyrd Skynryd. I also watched a few other videos of heavy metal and saw in your video list of BTS which showed me you are open to all types of genres. I was curious if you would react to two songs that deal with life in completely opposite ways. The first is in the video titled "Chappelle's Show - Kneehigh Park - Stinky the Grump". The second is Yim Jae Bum's "The Flight" (aka Desire To Fly). While classic rock is my favorite genre, I appreciate many songs outside the genre including some genres that people have yet to react to on youtube including FREESTYLE and Trance music. If you decide to dip your toe into FREESTYLE, I recommend one of the first FREESTYLE songs called "I Won't Stop Loving You" by C-Bank. (Don't do a live version as the audio isn't good in any of them). Also, if you decide to check out Trance, I recommend the video titled "Armin van Buuren feat. Lauren Evans - Alone (The Armin Only Intense World Tour)" which has a good message. Armin has many good songs he produced but I didn't know if you were willing to listen to songs without vocals.
*If you think those were high notes...think again! What you saw here is Nothing compared to what else he has already done and continues to do*

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Great reaction again! The artist that wrote and performed Opera 2 evidently demanded Dimash not sing it again after Dimash wrecked him with this. Someone here can confirm or correct me if I am off-base.
