    If you have truble with unwraping try the following.
    Instead of pressing U, press alt+n and select "set from faces".
    Now some blue lines should apear on your model.
    Press alt+n again and select "merge".
    After this your model should unwrap nicely.

      I tried rigging an orc character that was very round and chubby. I had trouble with the first rig because the bones were pulling on a lot of unexpected parts, adding more smaller bones to the second one gave me a lot more control and made weight-painting a lot easier too.

      @tingal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Marcelaylucin It isn't annoying at all: Filmic is a lot better than Standard because it allows for a higher range of light - making the clipping range larger and more realistic. It has several contrast modes already, as well as the compositer, in case you do not want to use GIMP or Lightroom/Photoshop.

    • @ghaznavipc
      @ghaznavipc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      filmic is for a realistic render that calculate color of objects more correct when a light hits an object (based of physics of the real world).
      standard is from the older versions of blender.
      if you want fantasy, abstract, not-realistic renders and want to see colors as it is (even if it's more saturated than real world) then standard is the way to go for it.

    Finished & Final Thoughts:
    I'm straight up new to Blender, and I would say this tutorial is for "Beginners who already know the basics of Blender". This is a, "Beginner to Intermediate" tutorial.
    I am strictly speaking from a totally new-to-Blender viewpoint:
    ▪ This needs to be a 2 part video - Creating the Model and UV Mapping.
    ▪ Speeding up your voice (or talking fast?) with no short pauses is not good for newbies.
    ▪ There were a few areas where parts were not explained or glossed over (ex. how to lay the image flat 'perfectly', what happens when Proportional Editing doesn't work, the middle mouse double click that I never used and needed to be slowed down, 15:15 Viewpoint Shading, how lighting and proper placement to maximize your render should work during the UV Mapping stage, how to rotate the camera around your model for a different angle...); corrections via annotations or subtitles would easily fix this without making an entirely new video.
    ▪ Alternatively, creating a new Top Comment with fixes of common problems people are having and pinning that instead would also be helpful if annotations or subtitles aren't able to be implemented.
    ▪ It needs an official transcript from the creator.
    ▪ Keyboard strokes need to be more visible with alternatives for those working on Mac.
    I started this on Jan 30th, and finished today Feb 4th, but taking breaks out from becoming frustrated in some parts, this took me ~3 days to make even though I thought this would take me about 4hrs to make (coming from a total newbie point).
    Yes, it is easy to create this model and UV map it, but the being taught process was where the issues arose. It's still a good tutorial, don't get me wrong, but it's not one I would recommend right off the get-go.

      what would you reccomend off the get go? i am totally new and all the buttons are overhwelimg. and i agree with your points. the going super fast is a bit frustrating and i dont wanna be fustrated at someone who is teaching me but yeah it is. i put the video to 0.5 speed after 15 seconds cause i knew it was gonna be a problem and it is. i was three minutes in and she went silent at a part i was not sure how to do and i have a touchpad not a mouse so she was using like a scroll wheel and it would have been nice to know what that was cause i pressed one thing and messed up and just had to start over again cause idk if there is a undo button and ITS FREAKING ME OUT PLS OH GOD.

    Instead of deleting the starting cube, u can just select it and press ctrl + 1-4 to subdivide it. I like to start with a single subdivision on a cube and then adding loop cuts as I need them. This tends to keep my poly count low until I want to add more detail.

    If I hadn't already done Blender Guru's tutorial donut, this would have been a lot tougher. I copied this one-to-one, but I'm starting again from scratch tomorrow to make an original character, which I plan to animate for a cute little music video (:
    Thank you for the tutorial!!!

      Hey, how is your music video going?

    • @Mr.Meowgical
      @Mr.Meowgical ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LmanRegular Hi! Around the time of my original comment, I completed an Animal Crossing inspired track just for this Blender idea, but I ended up dropping Blender to go back to working on my music and some audiovisual videos.
      I had created a model of a cat, a tree, and a small "world", all in the style of Animal Crossing just to give me a way to learn different aspects of Blender, but it was a LOT to do for me as a beginner, and I never finished it. Lost interest entirely.
      I might return to Blender eventually, but honestly, I consider my time with Blender a temporary break from arts/skills/programs that I am much more familiar with.
      I bother to mention all this because I know that someone might be beating themselves up for not being able to commit to Blender _or_ some other creative project.
      If you already have creative endeavors to fall back on, no worries, we don't _need_ to be a jack-of-all-trades, or the "master-of-all-trades" that perfectionism might suggest we need. We don't.
      If you don't have an area of expertise already and are just exploring creative outlets, that's fine too. Either way, just do what you feel like doing. Sometimes, especially if you have yet to call any area your calling, discipline _IS_ required to develop the skills you want to make the things you want to make, and I promise it's totally worth it. It's only hard in the beginning, but once things become habit, passion can *really* take over and before you know it, you can't live without creating what you love ALL the time.
      I didn't intend to drop all this text when I started this comment lol, but maybe someone in a certain place in their life will read this at a certain time. I 'unno.

      S Z 0 (S for scale, Z to scale on the Z axis and since we dont really want to scale them up (we just want to place all of them on the same spot vertically) we type 0, so wherever the vertices are, they meet at the average 0 on the Z axis)

    this was good, but a few things make it a bit more confusing for newbies:
    - the double click to select an edge loop add on is unnecessary, you can already alt+click, and the default is better for people to learn
    - you use hot keys a lot, when it would be better to show people where to find it in the menu, for example Edge>Mark Seam

      Thanks for watching!! The Emulate 3 mouse button option is because I use a graphics tablet instead of a mouse, and the pen doesnt have 3 buttons, so when that button is on, I can select loops with double click. Someone in my previous tutorial mentioned the double click selection wasnt working for them, and I realised it was because the Emulate 3 mouse button was off. If you have it off, I think you can select loops with Alt+ left click, and its also fine!
