  • Here you have 2 simple ways that will help you to master the false chord scream!
    To use the full potential of exercises, it's recommended to know how to growl (even on a very basic level) before starting to practice with the video above.
    If you feel that you need to learn the growl, check out the materials below:

    For learning how to growl and scream, mastering the kargyraa can be extremely helpful as well!

    Do you want to learn how to Scream, Growl or sing with Distortion from scratch without destroying your voice and wasting time (and nerves) for an ineffective practice?
    Or maybe you are already able to scream but you look for ways of taking your vocals to the next level, for example by learning new "tricks" and getting rid of unhealthy habits?
    If the answer to any of those questions is "Yes", than check out the Complete Guide To Extreme Vocals - a course that will lead step-by-step you through the world of extreme vocal techniques like Fry Scream, False Chord, Distortion, Gutturals, and more!
    Beside the extreme vocals, you will also build a solid and healthy technical foundation so your voice would grow safe and faster - effective breathing technique and posture, dynamic breath support and properly set voice (opened throat, lack of unnecessary constrictions, good resonance).
    There are also other helpful tools like exercises for finding and developing your vocal range - over 7 hours of materials with a lifetime access (no subscription bullsh*t)!
    Sounds good enough?

    This is great!! I'll try practicing this one ^_^
    And about my fry screaming, I can't make it loud. How do you fix that?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome!
      About the volume - it's an individual thing, a bit like speaking and singing. Some people talk or sing louder and some more quiet, and that's a natural thing for each of them.
      Of course, it's possible to learn to speak or sing louder, sound deeper etc. in a comfortable and good sounding way but it requires a good quality practice and time.
      I observe a similiar patter when it comes to to fry screaming.
      Another thing is that the fry scream, especially in the beginning and if you practice with the vocal fry + head voice exercises, isn't too big and loud.
      For some people the volume is the same as their speaking voice, in some cases it's slightly more quiet (especially if someone speaks louder than an average person). In case of people who speak/ sing quietly, fry scream can be slightly louder than the speaking voice volume.
      Forcing a higher volume can lead to constrictions and worsen the sound of screaming but if you aim for screaming louder, it's good to check from time to time how loud you can get while sticking with the best possible sound and the highest possible comfort.
      You can do a regular warm up, then a couple of your "regular screams" and after that you can slightly increase the volume with each of the next screams to see how far can your voice go without creating discomfort etc.

    I can scream almost any type of scream. Every time I scream, I feel dizzy or have a headache, do you know what the reason is?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The most common reasons are:
      1. Too high pressure (caused by for example holdong your breath before screaming, trying too scream too loud or too high),
      2. Tightening abs and/ or neck instead of using the breath support
      You will find more information about those (amd solutions in this video):

    Great videos! I've been trying to do vocals that kinda sound like Varg Vikernes from Burzums first album but I've never been managing. An in depth tutorial would make my day and once again great stuff!

    I can do kargyraa, but when I try to do a false cord scream, it becomes too breathy, and I don't know how I could scream through an entire song like this. I am the lead guitarist of my band, but I also want to be the background vocalist. We play songs from Slipknot, Rammstein, and from some other heavy bands. Do you have any tips? Ps: Your growl sounds awesome 🔥🤘

    Siema po raz kolejny. Szybkie pytanko : Jak według Ciebie wyjść z palenia papierosów (wokalista)?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Siemka, trudno mi cokolwiek powiedzieć, bo nie palę.
      Pod kątem psychicznym zaleca się rzucenie natychmiastowe, natomiast w podręczniku Complete Vocal Technique jest napisane, że jeśli gra się sporo koncertów itp., lepiej rzucać stopniowo, bo po nagłym rzuceniu śluzówka zwariuje i wpłynie to negatywnie na stabilność głosu przez kilka tygodni. Natomiast jeżeli nie gra się wiele i nie ma się zamiaru nagrywać wokalu, to można rzucić nagle i ćwiczyć mniej intensywnie aż sytuacja stanie się stabilna.

    I've heard Chris Cornell do this in some songs, or similar, what are the textures he is normally using? I have heard his vocal quality described as hyper glottal compression but I've no idea what that means, I know he is usually cutting back some air, so that is part of it, is the rasp in his voice fry scream or some other distortion?

    • @sibilaextremevocal

      Hello, sorry for late reply. This month is the most busy in the whole year so far (composing and recording vocals for 14 songs, releasing a vocal course, ebook and recording music videos with the band, and doing lessons).
      What plays a huge role in the sound of the distortion of Chris is his sound color. His voice is a bit "curbed" (moved back a bit). Beside that he is almost screaming when he begins the phrases and it adds some extra intensity to his sound. His style reminds me a bit of blues or jazz influence combined with rock singing.
      He is definitely using compression and distortion engaging his false vocal folds.

    Hej, nie jestem początkującym w te klocki. Fry scream mam ogarnięty na przyzwoitym poziomie, ale chciałem poszerzyć swoje umiejętności i spróbować Twojej metody, by nauczyć się False Cordu. Niestety, kiedy próbuję nałożyć przester na przeciągnięte "heeeej", gardło zaczyna boleć :c masz pomysł w czym może leżeć przyczyna?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Siemka, z tego co obserwuję podczas ćwiczenia false chordu z osobami, które potrafią fry scream, to osoby te częstą mają na początku problem, aby precyzyjnie i wygodnie zaangażować swoje fałszywe struny głosowe (podstawowy fry scream opiera się głównie o pracę tych prawdziwych), także może to wynikać z przyzwyczajenia głosu do zupełnie innej pracy.
      Inna kwestia to dobór ćwiczenia - to konkretne sprawdzi się najlepiej dla osób, które łatwo docierają do fałszywych strun, np. poprzez podstawowy growl. Jeśli jest z tym problem, to ćwiczenie raczej nie zadziała albo powstanie scream, ale będzie on zdzierał gardło.
      Na twoim miejscu spróbowałbym najprostszych ćwiczeń na growl (możesz zajrzeć na playlistę false chord pl) albo śpiew gardłowy kargyraa (jest playlista z poradnikiem do kargyry i filmy o tym jak ją użyć do growlu i false chordu).
      Możesz też podesłać mi na maila nagranie z ćwiczeń - xvocalcenter@gmail.com
