Games like this are the reason of why i wish i existed at that time. Seriously, playing something like this back when it came out must have been a huge experience. This game was so ahead of it's time with that cool crafting system.

Back in the day, I was so envious of Japan. Both Sega and Nintendo of Japan got to enjoy the weird stuff, whereas us American kids had to deal with cartoons and video games being true to social norms. That was because parents didn't think children would handle weird content from the Japanese version in a positive light. I'm glad Sega got better adaptations of Home Alone games then their Nintendo counterparts.
My favorite! Easily the best HA video game besides the PC one. I just love how true it can be to the movie's premise, with of course some creative liberties taken, like how Kevin has to defend multiple unique houses from the bad guys here. But kudos to the game designers on this one, it's surprisingly cohesive and unique! I love the weapon-crafting system and the ability to cartoonishly turn Harry and Marv into snowmen or set them ablaze. Plus the blueprint bass slaps. This is one of my favorite movie-based licensed games. Happy Holidays!
It was one of my Christmas presents back in 1992. Although this game was very basic on content and really easy to beat, I've actually had lots fun with my friends back then. Assembling weapons was by far the best part for me. This video brought back good memories that I've thought were lost. Thanks for uploading!

Because he had a Sega Genesis, my parents insisted that I should have a Super Nintendo instead and unfortunately, the Home Alone games on that console are crap lol.
I remember coming across this once, and I wasnt keen on it. Then i heard of the other games, like the NES and Snes versions. I played this again, and i fell in love with.
I feel bad for most of other Home Alone games ending up so badly. The non-Sega Home Alone games ended up too Americanized for their own good. It's a pity only the good Home Alone games ended up on Sega consoles. It's no wonder the companies that used to develop them on Nintendo consoles and computers are no longer in business today.
Whoa, it's cool that you actually get to set traps in this one; IIRC when I played the Super Nintendo version as a girl, you only ran around in a platformer trying to attack the Wet Bandits with weapons and trying not to get grabbed. And you know what? I have to wonder if this was one of the first games to use a true weapons crafting system. Maybe the developers over at Capcom thought of games like this when they made _Dead Rising 3_ ?
My dad bought me this game in Virgin store Lincoln when it came out. It took a few days but I eventually mastered it. It’s actually a really good game that gets lumbered in with the rest of the bad home alone games.
I love NES, I am not bagging on them. But the Sega Master System, and the Sega Genesis both had games that had far superior sounding music. Listen to the bass in that midi tune. That's real quality. I know there was Super Mario 3 that had fantastic music on NES, but NES never seemed to push the levels with music the way SEGA did.
I used to rent this a lot as a kid and I enjoyed it, but I was too young to understand what the heck I was doing or how to beat it (I think I was like 5 or 6). I would spend hours just trying to make random weapons. And I SWEAR I never ever found the item to recharge the sled and I saw you get like 5 or 6!
Loved this game but overall the gameplay got pretty repetitive. They threw in other elements like the ghost and the robot but not enough to take it off it's repetitiveness. Another cool element that could be added is maybe getting these guys captured before parents arrive after 3 houses cleared parents would arrive so one has to time perfectly.
Definitely better than the SNES version. But, it still manages to fall short with its terrible audio presentation, *HORRENDOUS* control and _S l o w S h o o t i n g._ It's not a horrible game. It tries to be like the movie (something that cash-grab SNES version failed to do). But it's so close to being _the_ definitive Home Alone experience. Maybe tweak the poor sound and make Kevin's weapons faster? I remember playing this on Game Gear. Same game, but limited as you would expect. I liked it back then.

The crafting system almost reminds me of “Monster Madness” where you had to make some of your weapons too.

Definitely the best home version of Home Alone, however I prefer the music of the Super NES version. Sounds more Christmas like in my opinion.
