Hi Alex how do you think Bali compares to Thailand and Turkey (both places I am considering to stay long term)? Both the cost and the vibe. Many thanks Amira
I prefer Southeast Asia but it’s my personal preference to the culture and food. I haven’t visited Thailand yet but will be soon so can only compare Bali/Turkey. Turkey may be more expensive though depending if you’re in a tourist/expat area
@@alexandwhite Thanks Alex I also think for a single female SE Asia is safer. I haven't been to Bali since the 90's and even though during the last couple of years it has changed, it will probably be overrun with tourists again once things open up. The thing I like about Thailand, after spending over a year there, is that you are in a country not on an island so if you want to go to the Capital you can by car if you are on the mainland in Pattaya, the Northern areas or Hua Hin or even drive from Phuket over the bridge. Being with your Indonesian partner would make Indonesia probably better and more accessible to the local culture. There are a lot of pros and cons and it's difficult to decide. I prefer Indonesian language to Thai as it is so difficult. Turkish is also difficult. I would consider Greece as I like Greece but not sure I want to deal with the language either. In the end I might just stay in Australia lol. I do speak Italian but right now not sure about Italy, I prefer the Greeks as they are more fun and hospitable and felt safer in Greece than in Italy last time around. All the best with your adventures.

Don't go to Bali is covered and trash and crowded. In fact it hurts the island, go to a neighboring island that's less famous, it looks better, and is even cheaper, and it's not over run
It is so affordable to live in Bali today, but it takes blood and sweat to get there nowadays. I heard somewhere the gov closed their borders for foreigner til 14 of January (and could be extended) to prevent new type of covid mutation..

Are you still there? Planning on going to Bali 2023 and staying for some months. The cost-living would have changed since Covid isn't really a major concern and businesses are resuming back to normal.
You seem a very kind and humble person, Alex. Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful experiences in our beautiful island. As a balinese, I humbly would like to ask you to give an example to always practice cleanliness, being respectful to our culture, to the environment, driving safely and wear all the regulated gears and being obedient to any local rules and laws. We have so many reports and news about how foreigners are not doing so and looking down on some laws here in Bali. Please be kind to our paradise. I wish you have a great days enjoying Bali. I have been in Bali for the past year . Prices are ridiculously cheap have been staying in a 3 star hotel in legian with 2 pools for only $140 a month . A little dated but comfortable. Unfortunately for local business just nobody here to fill the rooms
Yeah I've had the same experience, we came back from the Gilis and Lombok and ended up staying a hotel on sunset road that I wont name. Total was like $140 for the entire month, it was a bit dated, no hot water, and ended up having bed bugs 🙈I left and asked for a refund 4 days later
If you are adventurous and you have a local friend, they have those airconless van that is very cheap also. Groceries depends on which convenient store and what you buy. Agree with the internet. They have way better internet connection from where I come from. Food is way cheaper if you are able to eat local food. Manage to save so much if you find the right shop cause is way cheaper but still good food. You can eat good food with just 1USD only. But also depend on how much you eat also.

I think it will be very useful to new visitors and also people who want to transition from being holiday makers to full time travellers as you give they most important info needed in a really easy to digest way 👍 All the best on your travels, stay safe and will be catching up with more of your vlogs for sure 👍
Thanks so much for the compliments Richard! Really appreciate you watching and supporting 😁🙌🏻
Hi Alex, if our Anantara Ubud open by this december, please come and do a review. tks.
sure thing! Thanks for watching Afrian! 🙌🏻
Really want to make it too bali before i die. It’s a must
It's such a beautiful place, but also travel around other islands in Indonesia. Its such a big country 🙌🏻
Bro this is wicked! I'm heading to Bali as soon as they open up, shooting over from the Fiji Islands. Where would you recommend I visit first??
Fiji!?! Lucky! What kinda stuff are you interested in?
@@alexandwhite Yeah! Haha, got stuck here the last few months after sailing over from NZ. I love video, and was hoping to be able to spend some time in the mountains. Any insane hiking recommendations? Love your content by the way!
@@TravelWithJaro thats honestly not a bad place to get stuck in my opinion 😂 if you're looking for hiking and adventure I would recommend staying up north in Bali the highlands of Munduk are great, and if you haven't done the sunrise hike for Mt. Batur or
Mt Agung those are great! Outside of Bali I would also recommend staying in Lombok, alot of areas are still undeveloped so its not tourist at all
@@alexandwhite Legend!! Appreciate the help mate, will get to those spots when I make it in. And hell yeah! Pumped to be spending time here at the moment that's for sure. Cheers bro!
appreciate the transparency!
Always 🙌🏻🙌🏻
All the best with your adventures.
actually the data will add up if you top up your data before it expires
Oh wow i didn't know that, i'll have to try that. Is that on Telkomsel?

this was one of the most helpful videos i’ve seen yet!! can’t wait for my gap year, thanks for the help!!! 😁
Glad you enjoyed Abby! more videos from Bali coming soon 😁😁
hey, great video
well actually price in bali is like 1 - 10 in ratio
u still can afford it with only less than 1k/month
but if u go to enjoy the vacation it can go so expensive as it can
haha yes absolutely correct Agung! 👍🏻👍🏻
U should do a comparison of ur monthly living cost in bali vs Jakarta next
I will next month once i finish living in Jakarta! thats the plan 😁
I've lived in both. Jakarta seemed more expensive. I also wouldn't want to ride a scooter around Jakarta!
Currently Bali is desperate so I'd guess you could purchase half the place. Purchase a beach property as a future rental.
Yeah maybe 🤷🏻♂️
if you want to live like local people. 5 million (usd 350) per month is more than enough. including food n rent. 🤯
yeah there is absolutely ways to live much cheaper than this!
i just USD150 per month is enough 😂
Yeh right.. we can live with 5 million a month.. including buy a litlle house and a cheap car.. if you single..

how did you move around with the pandemic?? trying to get there this summer!
I moved before they shut down the borders, at the moment they are closed until Feb 8
Great informative vid👍🏾 We defo will be out in Bali this year. Keep up posting. How long do you plan stay in Bali? Which motor bike company did you use?
My gf found a local for the bike so don't know the company or even if he has one. Plan to stay until more borders open internationally
thanks
Great breakdown!
We love getting massages in SE Asia. So relaxing 💆♀️💆♂️
Thanks so much!! Haha yeah they're very affordable I love getting them here
Great update. Hopefully to visit Bali soon after the covid 19
Thanks for watching Michael! Yeah it's an amazing place to visit 👏🏼
hi LOVED this video ! I am getting married this year in novemeber and we wanted to go to bali after but im not sure about tourist traveling to bali now because of covid. Do you know or have heard any updates on the restrictions/entry into bali?
Hey Leah congratulations! At the moment the borders are still closed but hopefully by November things will change! 👏🏼
Don't go to Bali is covered and trash and crowded. In fact it hurts the island, go to a neighboring island that's less famous, it looks better, and is even cheaper, and it's not over run
@@alexandwhite thank you!
It is so affordable to live in Bali today, but it takes blood and sweat to get there nowadays.
I heard somewhere the gov closed their borders for foreigner til 14 of January (and could be extended) to prevent new type of covid mutation..
Yes Mr. Reese thats correct. The borders are currently closed til Jan 14, but we'll see if they decide to reopen it
amazing video, I believe u gonna be a huge TH-camr very soon if u keep this high-quality content! Good luck :)

Hi Alexander, Is Bali open for tourists? I am fron Holland, do I need a visa for a 4 weeks holiday?
Hey Jan, Yes borders are closed at the moment
question-- is it true that there is trash on the beaches (i sure hope not...)? and is it less crowded now because of covid?
Delicious food at affordable prices. Scrumptious dishes in this video.
they are Yasin! Thanks for watching man 😁
Also- How is the Wifi Speeds at the place you stay and similiar? I will need to work if- and I need stable speeds at least 50mps Down. I read internet is still unstable at most places.
Wifi here is like 40 download and 18 upload. But you can request internet speed tests from places before you book. Lots of places around have fiber optic you just difficult to find them haha
see you next month dude. Great video, the amount of detail and lack of jibber jabber nonsense earned you a sub. Nice work.
Haha thank you man! Really appreciate you watching man! 👏🏼 Much appreciated for the sub
Be careful they may say you are trying to colonize them.
Great video once again Alex! Is there a visa you recommend for staying longer than the 60 days on a tourist visa? I make videos too and want to stay for at least 6 months 🙃
currently there is no tourist visa, the only way foreigners are coming into indonesia right now is on kitas or business visa

Hi Alex. Just curious if you are interested to visit other places or cities in Indonesia like Jakarta, Bandung and many more. I watched your video when you're in Jakarta before going back to US due to covid things, but its quite a short time, just for transit only. Wish to see you spending your time longer in Jakarta n other cities here coz if you ve been living here for few years I think you need to complete your experience here by visiting other places .. haha. Okay thats just my opinion. Enjoy your time here. Keep supporting you Alex !!
I agree! My lease is ending here in Bali soon and I plan to do that and travel outside of Bali within these next couple months 😁
Thank you.
Makasih Rahmat! Yes of course, I love this island it's my second time here 😊😊
Thanks for the video man. See you next week

Hey bro, What route did you take flying from Mexico to Bali?
Cancun to Newark USA to Istanbul to Jakarta
@@alexandwhite Thank so much. This helps
Does anyone know how’s the situation in Bali covid restriction wise? Do you need a vaccine passport to enter the country or to access social life?
How much does your travel (health) insurance cost, must be quite expensive because of Covid?
It costs $40 usd a month. Link to it is in the description
You are right it is affordable. How do I make a reservation for a villa? Is it affordable like where u stayed?
Did you get hold of Expdedia?i'd like to have a cooking facility. The food looked good. Did you like the food?
They think we are rich, if we come from the U.S.
you have to already be here or contact them directly if you want the current pricing. Booking online is a mistake and will cost you much more. The food is great, I have a vlog about that already on my channel
Bro, some excellent work done in here, very informative and great editing! 😎

What is the name of the hotel?

Thinking of moving there next year I have no kids nothing holding me back I should be free going anywhere I want !

But also depend on how much you eat also.
yeah agree, all the prices really vary from person to person just depends on the lifestyle you live!
Awesome video - thank you for making it and the effort you put into it! I've been seeing some people on Instagram are entering Bali now through a 5 day quantatine process and 3 COVID tests.. does this sound legit?
Yes but you need to acquire a visa first before flying or they won’t let you on the plane

When you rent a scooter do you buy insurance?
I don’t no, I have insurance through a separate company. Plus most locals don’t offer/require it.
Locals believe that foreigners are really aware about Road-Safety, so it's really your responsibility when you rent the Scooter there.
Also, insurance "Is Not" really a thing in Bali and Indonesia as a whole country.
So don't expect the Local Scooter-Rental will offer such things to you.
*Indonesian here
@@firginaldokafly7693 yeah I agree with this. Most don’t offer insurance
Do you need an international license as you do in Thailand, the police there are on the make if your a foreigner
Where is the Wave House? I am looking to move to Bali this year.
It's located in Berawa (near canggu)
Love these video with costs per month to understand the real cost!Thank you. Make one next year when tourists are back to see how much prices go up.Do you have savings or how you have income to cover these costs mate?
Yeah I plan to do another one maybe once things go to somewhat normal or when I come back again. Yeah I'm currently traveling on savings until I can afford to make enough income on youtube to travel
@@alexandwhite good video, thanks. I have been to Bali many times in the pass and I love it. Last time when I was in Bali 2 years ago, I fund it very expensive if you go to restaurants and bars , same price compere with Europe, and the traffic was crazy to go 20 km away it just too take 50 minutus. Too touristy. so enjoy now that you cant , before it go back to the real Bali.
