It's funny because The Simpsons served as a direct inspiration for Rugrats; Klasky-Csupo animated the first three seasons of The Simpsons, and Nickelodeon contacted them because they wanted their network to have an animated series that was like The Simpsons, but more family-friendly.
That's funny because with the variety of characters and humor that you get from the child's perspective and the adult's perspective who are also pretty childish themselves, I can definitely the Rugrats having a bit of a Simpsons vibe.

This is a great idea and very well made, but my favorite part is the comments from people (unaware of the Rugrats source) calling this "creepy." Yeah. If you think it's creepy NOW, imagine seeing it as a young child in the 90s, when society was arguably less desensitized to _weird stuff._ It was a trip. 👴👌

Given how the Simpsons have been very big in doing meta concepts recently a Simpsons episode dealing with delightfully devilish dopplegangers would be good.
but millhouse was still the night watchman so it was his duty to stop the tommy-clown version of him from destroying the factory............then again maybe millhouse just watched him do it
In the Dreamtime isn’t my favourite Rugrats episode but I still really like it. Rugrats is my favourite animated show ever. I still enjoy the Simpsons but it’s definitely seen better days.
Reminds me of that movie, 'Don't Look Now' from 1973. Donald Sutherland chases his son, a little boy, through the streets of Venice, eventually up to the top of this stone tower, only to find, when the little boy turns around, that its not his son, or a little boy, at all. Its this homicidal dwarf who proceeds to cut his neck open with a razor.
