I love these old engines they play a tune when they're running....they were built to last and will still be running when we are all long gone..
Well maintained one run 100 years but these Pakistani's cannot oafford clean lubricating oil or fuel oil for that matter and just use old mootor oil for both jobs.
@@rosewhite--- I higly doubt this engine can can on bunker fuel or spent motor oil. We know our people are poor, Rose. No need to rub it in! 😅
We may be poor, but we are resilient, beautiful and awesome-possum! Despite all the hardships, like this engine in the video, we chug along!😊

I constantly remind westerners that Pakistan is an impoverished country.
My grandfather had an 80-acre farm on the banks of the Tigris River in Iraq, and he used to water the crops using an English-made Rastan machine, and that sound that I used to hear every morning is still stuck in my mind until now when I hear it. When I hear it now, I feel nostalgic for those days, for my grandfather, my father, and the others who have passed away
They are running those old beasts on used motor oil. They certainly don't seem to mind it, aside from being a little hard to start. Free fuel!
Long after a WW3 or alien invasion this machine will still be running 💪

Amazing that still runs, and sounds great. And Texas has problems keeping power on in cold weather with all the solar panels, wind turbines and fossil fuel power plants. Maybe hire this guy.

We had a similar machine many years ago that powered a generator. Only shut it off for servicing. Very dependable and efficient. We kept it absolutely spotless.
Those garments that these people use look very dangerous in these kind of jobs....Spinning wheels,belts all over the place and moving mechanical parts easily catch those loose clothing....just a gust of wind can be the cause of an accident....
And next to it the drinkwaterwell. But cool engines, love the breathing sound.
Wonderful old bit of kit!. You put clean oil in in, it would probably have a fit!. 🤣 Nuff said.

Ah. I have the process down now: dump yesterdays sump oil plus moths into todays lube oil. Get two other guys to rotate the flywheel, hit the mag and you're pumping what I am sure is pure clean drinking water - or what passes for it.

Here in North America, if an oil refinery leaked this much oil on the ground, it would be shut down as an environmental hazard.
Isn't it strange, how those belts just never fall off their wheels?
The belts are pulled to the center of the wheels, the faster it spins the more the belt wants to be in the center. This is because of the shape of the wheel, if it had a flat running surface then the belt would shoot off.
the wheels are called pulleys. their surface is slightly convex so the belts selfcentre.

All those loose clothes, unshrouded flywheels and belts, and kids and animals moving among them, would give an OSHA inspector a heart attack from all the exertion of writing violations on his clipboard!
1 kw costs the same whatever heater type surely.
second engine would be easier to crank if they slipped the belt off the pulley.
No sense in starting the engine without the belt on the pulley. Would you try and put the belt back on, with the engine running?

There is always someone who professes to know more than the guys who live with these engines everyday and know them inside out.

What the power output is used for? I can see at least two machines connected but I can't see what they're for.
one is the water pump right near the engines. one disconnected on the ele motor looks like a water pump also. i cant see the others, either.

I think that's just lubricant oil top up and priming they show in the start, not the fuel tank getting topped up.

These machines barely use any fuel and it’s a very lean mix they are burning. No black smoke billowing from them. Also no new engines have to be build to replace them.
