  • With all the hype about the Yamaha MT10 being bad on fuel and reports of some getting only 80 miles I decided to try and see normal riding what I can get to a tank of fuel and also what can you get on reserve to empty run out of fuel.

      @MOTOUK1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it does make them louder, not for everyone in fact when I decat mine first I lasted 1 day then put the cat back on. I then researched using a Leovince decat as has a resonator box on it and the akra end can I finally put a baffle in. Now for me it’s perfect sound. By decat ting the bike and ecu flash you won’t see more power but will be so much smoother due to getting the air/fuel ratio correct as these bikes run very lean from stock.

    I got just under 300km before I filled up on a highway ride but that was with the tank filled as full as I could get it. My average was 5.1l/100km (my dash is metric). This video is quite useful as to what I can expect in normal use. I don’t think this bike is as bad as some say. Lots of videos I see people are riding it in 3rd gear on the highway and second around town. I get into top gear as soon as I can and I’m usually in 4th or 5th around the city.

      Ok 👍 I know it sounds mad but when Andy at Junction33 explained it made sense! So the bike runs lean from new, when you have ecu flashed it sorts the fueling so more fuel, but by adding more torque on the flash more fuel or correct fuel means more forward movement at less throttle input so uses less fuel. I would say I have seen 15-20 more miles per tank after flash

      Peter It tells the bike that it is colder outside than it really is so it puts more fuel into the bike and runs richer. Highly recommended if you have aftermarket exhaust. It protects the bike from running hot and helps remove the low end dip in power. Google “booster plug” and put in your make/model of bike

    Thirsty brute. I guess that's the price you pay for running this stunning mustle bike. In comparism 550's and latterly 600's have always provided a compromise between cost and performance. I ride yamaha's FZ6 gen/1. The retuned R6 motor gives racy acceleration in lower gears upto the dizzy 14k redline. Normal riding gives 55mpg, gentle cruising 58mpg, ridden hard wherever possible gives 45mpg. The 600 also gets a bigger tank 19/l, so 200 plus miles to the tank in normal use. I'm considering the MT10 with a pipe and a reflash, more for that amazing exhaust note than anything else, i just wish yamaha had gone 21/22 litres to compensate for the gas guzzle. As for suzuki, 12 litre capacity in their modern retro mustle bike is laughable

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for tuning in 🙏 and the sub 👍, so i agree there are days when i wish 21lt tank on the 10 especially when touring although when touting i take it easy and normally I’m getting in that mode 150 - 160 miles per tank! It’s the same on most super naked bike atm as I’m currently testing the Speed Triple RS from Triumph and that has a 15.5lt tank approx 140miles so they are all similar. I also know that 600cc or 660cc ish is coming back into fashion with the newly to be launched Kawasaki Z650RS and with the Triumph Trident 660, more also coming in the adventure class next week at 660cc adventure bikes, very popular. TBH i think 600cc to 900cc is more than enough for the open roads. Again thanks, 🙏
