Freddie harmonizing with himself on live tracks to boot. Deep cuts of Queen's albums always a treat. Bo Rhap and You're My Best Friend were the singles from this same album A Night At The Opera. Queen was and still is untouchable for voices, writing, melodies, musicianship. Never judge them solely by the commercial hits. So much depth.

This is an outstanding composition. The canon effect on this song is haunting. Brian showed it to Freddie and Freddie not only loved it, he tried it with his voice and in true Freddie style, went crazy with it. Brian wrote this to be his Bohemian Rhapsody but it was a bit sophisticated for the audience and never saw that same degree of popularity. I love this son, thank you.

Brian had dream about the great flood, Noah. He said he saw people on the street reaching out trying to touch people's hands, trying to show caring about each other. The song come from that dream. We should care about each other and interact with one another. Yes it is a warning about destroying our humanity.

Brian May explained that he wrote the song after a dream he had about a great flood while he was recovering from being ill.

The whole part with the chorale round ( Freddie repeating) was done with a delay device. It can be used for either vocals or instruments. The device can be adjusted with different time delays and the vocalist/ musician only has to sing/play the line once and it can be repeated as many times as wanted. Bri still uses this same technique today when doing his solos. It can be heard in many of the group's live shows. "Now I'm Here", and "Exercises in Free Love" are 2 that jump to mind immediately. Excellent reaction!! Too many people avoid this song and miss the mastery of it. The stringed instrument you hear at the beginning and end is a toy Japanese Kyoto that was given to Brian by a fan in Japan that he taught himself to play. The song itself was based on a dream that Bri had. He woke up with the whole song in his head. It's one of the few pieces that there wasn't group input on.

    • @bbbfst
      @bbbfst 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Actually, that section was not Freddie singing it once. "That whole midsection is effectively recorded live: Freddie is singing over his own tape delays, played back into his headphones so he can harmonize with himself right there in the studio." And according to Roy Thomas Baker: "The delay was done by using two stereo Studer machines - they were still running the tape from one reel to the other the way you'd normally run a tape machine, whereas you run it from one reel through and then off the machine and then straight to a different machine, and then playing back on a different machine, so the tape would actually be laying across the room. There were a few chairs and lamps and coat hooks around that we hooked it over until we ended up with the right delay. He had to perform it live, so it's being performed live with the delays in his headphones and he could hear it so he could sing along with it and then harmonize with the vocals when it came back to him."

    • @bluebell3720
      @bluebell3720 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Excercises in free love is just Freddie singing
I dont think he used the delay machine on his own songs
Brian gave the impression prophet song was the first time they used it that is was fairly new
Roy and Brian have explained it in a video/s
      edit
Brian used the delay for guitars for Brighton Rock
prophet was the first time with vocals

Ahhh Rad .....so happy you've found Queen and their genius 😁 I'm now 60 and had the privilege of listening to each and every Queen album as it came out . My brother started me off on Queen 1 and 2 but after that it was my own mission. I'm lucky enough see these through from their birth , and still play all their records (on vinyl 😁) regularly . Just love that so many of you youngsters are embracing the masters . 30 years since Freddie left us , and hes still the dogs bollocks ( English for GOAT 😂) carry on listening to them 🤟🤟😁😁❤❤

Aahhh , Christmas 1975 , Bohemian Rhapsody was no 1 on UK chart ..... BBC had Queen at the Odeon live on Christmas eve, which as a 14 year old in 1975 was heaven Christmas morning, the album a Night at the Opera was wrapped up under the tree for me . I spent the next week in my bedroom playing it over and over . Seeing someone hearing this song for the first time 46 years after my first hearing and seeing how much you enjoyed it has made my day 😁😁😍😍❤❤ xxx

Hey! I love all your reactions, the Queen reactions especially! I have some Queen songs to suggest:
Tenement Funster - this was written and the lead vocals were by Roger, it’s not as well known as some others but it’s great!
Misfire - written by John Deacon, lead vocals by Freddie, great song and quite funny too😂, it’s really short though
Get Down, Make Love - written and lead vocals by Freddie, I especially love this song for Brian’s guitar pieces in it!
Sail Away Sweet Sister - sing by mostly Brian but also Freddie.
    Have a good day / night 😁

Ah, my Brian Maynia has been satisfied today.😊 It was born of his (continuing) concern that we are screwing up the natural world and that we will end up paying for it in the end if we don’t change our ways. In ‘39 he says that “the earth is old and grey” and that’s why they are looking for a new world. Supposedly, this started with a dream he had and yes, he has a unique mind.

I've loved Queen for so many years, giving my age away here but I was around when they owned the charts with every release 🙂but I've never heard this! How is that even possible? Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful gift today❤ You mentioned the white bird they mention occasionally? I'm sure someone's probably already mentioned it, but the white bird, or dove, usually signifies peace 🕊
Every decade seems to have it's sound and I'm so grateful to have been a teenager in the 80s 🙂 I remember a very rainy day, sitting in a movie theatre watching Flash Gordon and the music making the floor and the seats all vibrate so much it got scary! I still love the movie (it's so cheesey it should be on toast but it feels like such a wonderful homage to the old Buster Crabbe serials I grew up watching on TV on a Saturday morning - "Flash! I love you! but we only have 14 hours to save the earth!!..." lol) The soundtrack though! Oh my, it's defies description. You can see the theme song here th-cam.com/video/LfmrHTdXgK4/w-d-xo.html Loving your channel, have subbed and sending hugs from the UK x

the delay machine vocals Prophet song
    Roy
Freddie sang live with the delays as they came back to him through the headphones
he sang in the centre with the first delay going to the left and the second to the right
he would create three part harmonies with himself, singing with the delay
in Bo Rap to create a fuller sound choir/ochestra/Freddie intro
multi tracking, seperate built up on top of each other

they did do backing on this
but most of the harmonies were Freddie
Prophet song they did a lot of harmonies with the delay machine which freddie didn't do on Bo Rap (same album)
there's a video explaining making of which explains it
Freddie harmonies live with himself to create a three part harmony
with Bo Rap intro he multitracks to harmonise with himself
    done on alot of songs
with some songs he double tracks and does it so precisley that it fazes some rectors assumed they used a machine, just Freddie!
obviously you don't always want that effect so he would have to contiously sing the tracks differently to give a fuller sound without fazing
the delay machine is different but Roy and Brian can explain it better!
they needed to present parts of the album to the press and record company but Brian still hadn't finished so they put it together 'cobbled' as they said just to show something
kenny played it on the radio,Brian was not pleased as it was unfinished!

Written by Brian May in 1975, but it sounds like it could have been written yesterday with climate change and all the other ways we've damaged our planet. It was based on a dream he had where he saw the old man and the people on the moonlit stairs, it sounds kind of similar to Stairway to Heaven in that respect. It is my favourite Queen song. I never tire of listening to it.
