    Excellent talk by Georgia Ede. Confirms how I've thought and what my mother taught me about eating naturally and well. I do wish this information was more widely disseminated as so many people just believe all the propaganda as to what is a healthy diet, which may very likely be a truly unhealthy diet. And, so many people are angry at people who advocate eating healthy, grass-fed beef and other natural meat proteins as part of a diet because they accuse us of destroying the planet. I wish people wanted to learn and not just listen to and adhere to soundbites from propagandists.

    Where do vegans think the vitamin B12 in supplements come from?

  • @dalin6275
    @dalin6275 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    There is such a large range of biological/physiological variability that some people can, in fact, do well on a wide variety of diets. I know a lot of healthy vegans, carnivores and omnivores. Do what works for you. I agree there shouldn't be "bashing", but the biggest bashers by far have been and are vegans. If you are not one of those awesome! But most vegans I know come across as if they have some kind of moral high ground...which they don't. Most of the charged emotions we see from carnivores are push back from the years of bashing by vegans!

    • @edbauerfit
      @edbauerfit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try not to be one of the bashing vegans, but I do try to live in an ethically consistent manner while pursuing strength and health. I do think the emotionally charged pro-meat/pro-plant positions never lead to any enlightenment from either side. Also, I do agree the movie had some half truths. The point that I want to get across is a fully vegan diet can be healthy and optimized with whole foods and yes some supplementation (B12, DHA, K2).

    • @MattAngiono
      @MattAngiono 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, this is the OPPOSITE of what actually happens under carnism.....
      Vegan ideas are propagandized against from the day we are born. We are normalized under carnist beliefs unless we are the less than 1% born to vegans...
      Vegans are shamed, even in the way you are doing right now, for believing that animals shouldn't be abused, getting categorized as being too harsh or violent, or "bashing"..... Saying that meat is animal abuse is a demonstrable fact, its not bashing.....
      Its standing up for victims, and trying to defend the defenseless....
      Yes, some vegans are A-holes or narcissists or both, but that's the vast minority. The things said by carnist narcs are just as bad if not worse....
      Yes, they threaten just as much....
      Ethics are meant to be debated and discussed, so vegans have every right to say what they say about what we do to animals, so long as it's true.
      If we ethically agree that animal abuse is bad, then of course vegans have moral high ground....
      You say carnivores so nonchalantly as if there aren't victims experiencing horrific suffering in order to satisfy your tastes or perceived health benefit.... Vegans simply using words to call out the abuse is NOT bashing in a negative way....
      If vegans are committing violence, then I'm on your side that this should be condemned, but to categorized vegan activism as anything other than an honest ethical movement is ignoring the majority of the evidence

    • @MattAngiono
      @MattAngiono 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sirius White No, anthropology shows that we were not heavy meat eaters...

    She's on the right track but missing the big picture. It's not just about missing micro-nutrients. It's also about toxicity, anti-nutrients, gut damage and auto-immune disease. It's also about the metabolic syndrome group of diseases. Plants can provide most of the nutrients you need, but will fuck you up in the process.

    I know a lot of people who lived as vegetarians for a period of 30-40 years or more and people who are vegans for a period of 15-20 years. They don't seem to have any health problem or something.
    But, industrialized or processed meat/food is bad for your health.
    Food optimisation is necessary. Yes, there are some vegetables which can cause harm to the body, but that again depends on the quantity we consume. Most of that harm can be avoided by
    Simply taking a little care

    It's very easy in this day and age to be healthy on a whole foods, plant-based diet. Why contribute to animal torture and death when you don't have to? Industrialized farming practices (where 99% of the food we buy originates) is horrifically cruel. Watching Earthlings or Dominion if you doubt this. If you are afraid of not getting a certain nutrient (which is questionable) then just take a supplement. Thousands of people live healthily on plant-based diets. It's also much better for the planet. We have a choice, and that's the ethical way to go.

    Until you have practiced a vegan diet and experienced the benefits you are not in a position to judge. I have been vegan for over 30 years - I am healthy, energetic and not or ever have lacked in B12 or any other nutrient. I am not vegan for health reasons, I am vegan for the billions of animals who are oppressed, exploited and slaughtered for their body parts and excretions, for the wildlife who are losing their habitat to support infrastructure like slaughter houses and feeding lots for animal ag. We do NOT need to consume the flesh of nonhuman animals to be healthy. The impacts of animal ag are responsible for covid and many other zoonotic diseases impacting humans. The flesh industry may not be paying you for this presentation but your findings are way off track.
