Actors: Double feature featuring Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco
Here we have celebrated thespians Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson give what is probably the most pathetic demonstration of hypnotism and acting ever caught on film. Giving Woody Harrelson a dual role in the film will go down as one of Hollywoods greatest decisions. Because if there's one thing young and old audiences are saying everytime they leave the cinema, it's obviously that "This movie needed more Woody Harrelson".
The hypnosis moments really are soothing to me for some reason especially the moment any of them say sleep

If you think that is how hypnotism works or that is what you would call good acting then nothing...nothing at all. To each their own my friend.
This version of hypnotism was created to fit the needs of a hollywood movie regarding magicians stealing from rich people. Hollywood ... movie ... magicians ... stealing from rich people. How do you expect hypnotism or anything else for that matter to be 100% completely realistic? As far as hypnotism is concerned (from what I know and imho) they really needed to incorporate concepts of imagination anchoring, induction, NLP and bypassing the critical factor all in a short time in the frame of an action packed movie. And to my eyes that's a success. If you expected to see Merit going into a long hypnotic session with the rich-boy then you might as well watch a professional's video on youtube doing therapeutic hypnosis - you'll find what you're looking for.
And as far as the acting is concerned - maybe I'm not as cultivated, refined and sharp spirited as you - cause yeah - I see nothing wrong with that. The only performance being off in the whole movie was Merit's twin brother which was portrayed intentionally to look goofy, yet I was displeased. But this scene was fine by me.
Exactly. What does it have to do with their acting skills ? It's just how they want to resemble hypnosis, it has nothing to do with how good or bad they act.

I actually taught myself hypnosis and this is what's known as "show hypnosis" its the kind that performers like Criss Angel use to make certain illusions seem more mystical it requires the other person to be in on it.
You taught yourself to think that you taught yourself hypnosis.
You are a troll. This is a GREAT movie with famous, GREAT actors. And as a self taught, expert hypnotist, I found all the surprise inductions imaginative and entertaining. Except maybe the tube to China one, that was a bit far fetched. I'd also like to point out that not ALL the the inductions worked which is also realistic...and in yur video.

hypnojon32 if you really are a hypnotist or even if you aren't, you'd know that ALL of these inductions are far fetched. It is very close to impossible to hypnotize someone that quickly in the middle of the street and it reaches the level of "impossible" when you are talking about a country in which everybody knows at least a bit about hypnosis. Just imagine that while your are walking down the street, a guy suddenly jumps at you and tells you to look into his eyes. What do you think the vast majority of the population would do? The one with the pizza was even worse. The guy is an actual master hypnotist, yet he continued staring at the pizza.
I stand my comment. You're right. A lot of them WERE farfetched. And a lot of them didn't work. Please take into account that these characters are "stage" hypnotists and practiced street performers who make it a point to excel at surprise inductions and speed inductions and they ARE possible. You tube search speed induction...surprise inductions if you don't believe me.
to call a vid "terrible acting" and to call actors with long and successful careers "terrible actors" is obvious trolling.
hypnojon32 if you believe that something that far fetched is possible simply based on TH-cam videos, then you have very low standards of evidence. And even if it is possible, then it is impossible using these techniques. I don't know why we are having this conversation. It's not like anyone expected something so molested by Holywood to be accurate, I found it very good for the purposes of the movie. Also, I never said that this is bad acting. I found specifically this actor amazing in both "now you see me" movies. It is laughable to call that "bad acting", I don't know why anyone would consider it to be such.

However by all means KEEP arguing! The more we chat about HYPNOSIS and how NOW YOU SEE ME had GREAT HYPNOSIS SCENES, the more publicity NOW YOU SEE ME 3 will get and will most likey have even MORE HYPNOSIS SCENES in it. It's probably thanks to people like us talking about it that NOW YOU SEE ME 3 is already in the works according to IMDB. I'm sure search engines like Google are picking us up right now I LOVED HYPNOSIS IN NOW YOU SEE ME....MORE HYPNOSIS SCENES PLEASE

The acting is fine, it's the hypnosis, sure. But they legally can't show an actual hypnosis method that would work in real time, on television
those hypnosis tricks are true. they use words that have the same sound and its meaning make you think in a weird way while your eyes are being hypnosis.
