    My 2005 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG was deemed mechanically totaled by its previous owner Hoovies Garage. The twin-turbo V12 M275 engine has a major engine oil leak that requires 50 hours of labor to repair and combined with a leaking hydraulic suspension pump and many other issues the Car Wizard quoted me $10,000 to fix most everything. In this video, I removed the gigantic engine, transmission and entire subframe with suspension and get started. This is going to be a wild ride so make sure to subscribe and hit that bell notification so you catch all the action.

      Since the introduction of AUTOCAD software, European car brands utilised the 3D Model to design the engine bay to be compact as possible therefor admitting in more parts.
      The downside is once it comes to the actual physical maintenance of it, a lot of things need to be taken out. Hence why service fees in real life are so expensive, due to the labour.

    I loved this video. It shows the quality work a well trained and "garage smart" person can do. But enough about your wonderful daughter ...
    Seriously, great vid. I used to tear down vintage motorcycles and do whatever it took to get them running again. The issues were typically minor. But getting to them, like your oil seal, was sometimes a challenge.
    Thanks for sharing this journey with us. I cannot wait for the next installment.
    And please tell your mother thanks for training you well. An organized work area is an efficient work area. You passing these words of wisdom down to YT viewers will make others efficient as well. 20 years from now, you will see a YT vid of a guy working on a vintage 2015 e63 AMG saying "thanks to a guy named Alex, I learned this approach about 20 years ago - on how to do this without wasting time looking for things."
    One day, I want to take your mom out for a nice dinner for raising such a nice son. ;-)

    Alex you're the king for taking on a job like this for the fan's entertainment. I've done engine swap and that was on a Toyota Echo with a 1.5 I4 motor. That was fun and simple though you still needed to plan things. This job would give me anxiety.

    Nice job on cleaning up the garage! Always enjoy watching your videos. I am a Mercedes guy myself. W140 and R230 (highly modified and tuned - scary fast) are two of my Mercedes in my collection that I absolutely love and drive as much as possible. Plan to never sell my 99 W140 S500. That one is stock but I love it that way. It reminds me of the true engineering that Mercedes used to be known for and although it is likely my least valuable car, it is by far my favorite for a daily. Please keep up with the Mercedes vehicles. I know you have to throw some others in there to keep the TH-cam algorithm happy but I love watching when you work on Mercedes vehicles.

    Alex is a MB legend, I don't know any other person who would take on these crazy expensive car projects. I'm not really a big MB fan I liked older ones like 190 and c43 but I still enjoy his videos and respect him tremendously for saving these cars. Some of the Mercedes cars he restored would have ended up getting crushed otherwise

    The thought of getting this engine back in is making me sweat

  • @davidpeterson6147
    @davidpeterson6147 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    the main parts to replace are the water pump, timing chains/belts, inspect and possible replace valve guide seals (cheap if you do them yourself), front and rear crankshaft seal and the big one is the parts related to any VVT while you are replacing the timing chains/belts. I would also look at cleaning out any oil build up in the intake. An egr replacement would be a good idea. These are the basic parts I can think of without specific knowledge of this engine but apply to all engines. The next big challenge might be a trans rebuild and a service now might indicate issues and it would easier now to deal with the trans already out of the car. Thanks for the video.
