Hey, you don't have to make a full video about this, but I would like to ask how to counter pick a character. Like there are some obvious ones like picking a swordie against a character who lacks range, but what else goes into making a matchup good or bad?
I feel taunting against certain people is a horrible idea as they suddenly start playing so much better just to prove themselves that they just obliterate any remaining stocks you have.
navytashigi That's what happens when you taunt against a player much better than you who wasn't previously making much of an effort because they didn't take you seriously or consider you a real threat. I know because I'm usually that player.

When I wait for my opponent to respawn after a KO, I like to hold on to the attack button and keep on jabbing (it's especially funny with Snake and Kirby).
In addition to using your last LS or tome charge with Robin I'd also recomend getting a couple short hop aerials if you're out of LS since a BS airal or smash attack reduces the cooldown on LS. I was a Robin main in smash 4 and I used this quite a bit.
I thought standing still in the middle of the stage was the polite way to wait for a respawn. How do I wait for my opponent to come back without engaging in psychological warfare?
I Exist when they leave the halo they hit the trampoline invincible or not, they will have to bounce and waste time getting to the ground to take advantage of their invisibility
@@cheeseschnitzel7307 That's not the point, The point is that if they touch it, they'll get bounced up and lose more invincibility time. This forces the opponent to either jump (making them stay in the air) or get bounced (making them stay in the air). either way they're losing invincibility time. If you do it in a star KO or screen KO you can bounce on the trampoline to make it a give a higher bounce
(thug ness looks sick !) One thing I like to do recently is (sorta) dash dancing right under the respawn point and baiting me running in one direction to actually run the other side.. If my opponent guess wrong, they'll likely waste their 2 sec invulnerability.
Pro tip: use the lightest, whitest character when you can charge something. That way it’s harder to tell that they’re blinking. And yes, it actually works. You can literally hold a charge shot until it will kill, and the opponents will likely forget about it
Sometimes when you're on your last stock it can be worth it just standing on the respawn platform recovering mentally and getting rid of tilt instead of getting that extra second of invincibility.
Another thing to do if you don’t have any options to prepare a trap is if you’re on a Battlefield map, jump on the platforms and be unpredictable by baiting them to think you’re going to go to the next platform when in reality, you’re going to the next one or try and airdodge when moving to each platform although, your opponent can catch you out if you’re being predictable.
Yeah, with fast characters or ones with good air speed this is pretty important. Yoshi's Story has way less space but it's still possible to juke the opponent there
I have an Inkling setup I usually do between stocks with variants depending on matchups and mixups. The basic version goes like this. I run to center stage and wait till they start to appear on the angel platform. I then roller to the ledge to ink half the stage. The ink slows down them approaching me while they are invincible and can even help later if I try to jump over them to the other side of the stage so that they can't follow me as easily. Once I roller to the ledge I jump and reverse splatbomb back towards the stage. I time it so that it will go off right after their invincibility wears off. Now that I'm off stage I can mix up what I do quite a bit. I can double jump over them if they are already quickly approaching, or go to the ledge, or even fire splatter shot. My favorite is to go low below the ledge then double jump onto the stage and up air. It usually comes out right about the time splatbomb goes off. Up air 2 hits usually right before landing. Whether it hits or not I usually like to throw out up tilt. Once that lands I can short hop nair string into regrabs into more stuff or whatever.
Something you didn't mention is for characters with counters. As you said the opponent coming back often tries smash attacks since they are invincible, but if you time correctly, and they incorrectly, you can pull off a counter that hits just as their invincibility ends since countering adds a bit more lag than a miss.
Just a little detail, when a character recovers from a KO, it is called intangibility, which is when moves still stick (like mega mans Side special), invincibility is when absolutely NOTHING can happen, like spot dodging. ROB also has the option to just up b to the top the screen while holding gyro. He covers his landing pretty well by throwing the gyro down and choosing the opposite side of the opponent. It's weak to opponents that have good options to kill high off the top such as Bayo, sonic, and megaman, though it's at least an alternative to hiding with the ledge with gyro.
If you're Kirby & you have an ability you don't wanna lose, you can still disrespect your opponent by staying crouched on the ledge you killed them from & waiting for them to retaliate.
