BMW E36 convertible electric roof problem

I brought my 1996 e36 328i vert after someone had pulled the red cord when I went to re-sync it, it now dose this but stops soon as hatch has sucked down and wont do anything else
anyone had this problem before or is able to help me please

SEVEN YEARS LATE BUT I HOPE ITLL HELP ANYONE LOOKING AT IT NOW. Check the linkage between the motors & the top itself. Located under the tonneau cover on the drivers side

FOR ANYONE STILL HAVINT THIS ISSUE I MAY HAVE THE SOLUTION IN CASE YOU USE THE FRIST GUYS PROBLEM. When you close the top put some weights or get 2 friends and put weight on both sides and its should lock and making the top work again

Tonneau cover motor binding. Remove bare motor off bracket and reshape bracket to original shape.

Follow the advice from 1st reply , if still no movement ,then you may have to replace the module

Haha I see many people every year have this problem. So I will join you all. I have the same issue and fixed it partly but can’t seem to fix it completely…..

To solve this issue you have to free the motors and close the top manually and when u have closed the top then go to the trunk and re engage the motors and try to open the top normally like nothing ever happened
