Nice! I do all kinds of other stuff with advanced students, but I think this pretty well covers the basics. If I were in person with someone, or a group, we would work on playing specific notes in specific spots aka hitting the IV chord in the right spot, and fully arpeggiating the chords, phrasing like question question answer etc. I guess I have to make more videos. I've been a musician since I was 7 yrs old (61 years). I began with guitar and then to trumpet and made it in the Army Band playing French Horn. I've played in a number of Country bands on Bass including having my own band for about 7 years from 2000 to 2007 before an injjury took me out of performing. The first thing I look for with other musicians is their motive for performing. I had a steel player that would drink two or three 6-packs before he loaded up to make it to a gig. Then would drink another 6-pack at the gig before driving home sober as a judge. His claim to fame was that he had only one DWI on his record. His motivation was to impress his friends that he could drink on stage. The truth is, he was one of the best steel players I'd ever seen. But his motivation was why he never made it big. Another thing I look at is ego. Performing on stage to a crowd has to be fun. It's not about being cool or part of the "in" crowd. If you are on stage to get attention, then you'll get it. But you'll be one of the loneliest people in your town. Your ego will kill you. When people give you a compliment for how good you sounded in that set or song, your response has got to be, "I sure enjoyed playing for you. I'm glad you liked it". Musicians are in a way servers of entertainment. We are not there because we are liked. We are there because we enjoy the ride. Anything else is counterfeit. Those are simply some of my thoughts. Take them as you will or not. I'll leave a show faster than the wind if the musicians are there to serve themselves.
