Hey! It was a really tough decision. We both got into UPenn and Maryland Dental. However, we heavily took finances into consideration. Maryland offers instate tuition after the first year making it a more affordable for Kathleen and UPenn offered me the scholarship making it my cheaper option. We also considered travel distance and realized it was feasible to see each other every weekend while in dental school. Finally, we wanted to attend schools that valued clinical and hands-on experiences and from what we heard, both programs excelled in this. All in all, we're happy with our decisions and both love our programs!
I can feel the stress of those years of hard work just being let go letter by letter. Congratulations! You both deserve it and I am sure you will both be great doctors!

I received a 23 AA 24 TS DAT score and graduated with a 3.97cGPA and 3.97sGPA. Kathleen received a 20 AA 21 TS and graduated with a 3.89cGPA and 3.75sGPA. That being said, these are just two parts of the whole application. The application involves so much more such as Letters of Recommendations, your Personal Statement, Experiences, achievements, etc. so I wouldn’t fixate so much on the numerical stats. Hey! I’d say 99.99% of people who take the DAT end up getting the same official score as their unofficial. It’s extremely rare for your score to change from your unofficial.

I got in Harvard and Penn, but I cannot afford. Instead I went to UCLA in 1985. At that time tuition is free at UCLA dental school.
