I remember my mother saying "cooking is an art, baking is a science." In other words you can play with cooking, but baking requires exactness.

I made this 7up pound cake last night. God bless you! My Mama was the baker in my family and she now has dementia. Although I have her recipes it didn't taste like hers. SO I FOLLOWED YOU as you suggested! I loved my Mama's cake... BUT this was so much lighter and then hers. I immediately passed it on to my sister! Thank you so much!!!

@@foobarmaximus3506 God bless you! She had Dementia so I couldn’t ask her what I did differently from her to why my cake didn’t taste like hers! Dementia took away her ability to have a present time conversation! My mom has since passed away Jan 2021 from c-19. So, no more anything from her. AND I not from my 7up pound cake to be clear! 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾

@@striving2beholy Blessings to you!! I clearly understood your post!! I too loss my mother to Alzheimer's in 2019 and carrying on her legacy with my baking business. Her 7-Up pound cake was one requested by everyone, and although I was able to record her recipe (with no instructions), I find this one to be closer to hers. I feel her presence whenever I'm baking.😇 May God continue to bless you and the gift of baking!💕🙏🏾

Started using this recipe about a year ago. My family now begs me for it! It’ll definitely be on the table for thanksgiving tomorrow. Y’all: Watch the video so you’ll know the steps she took. This isn’t a throw it all in the bowl recipe. Get the cake flour. Take your time when mixing. If you follow her step by step, your mix will have the literal consistency of silk.

When she got home, there was only a 1/2 cup of flour left. I was not going to let this stop me. So at 10:30 at night I made my daughter take me to Von's. I was able to fine Swan's & everything I needed. To make a long story short. I finished the cake at 1:45, waited for it to cool. Had my first piece at 2:30 am. Just like you said, the cake came out PERFECT! OMG, this is a fabulous easy to follow recipe. Chris thanks so much for sharing this.

Hello Ms. Cook.. I made this today. I gotta tell you, I been dying to make this for over 20 years, but never came across a recipe till last week... God has really blessed your hands for all you cook. I made it, and couldn't believe how moist and tasty. I just knew it was going to come out good... The only sad part for what ever reason it over lapped in my oven, in my bunt pan but it was ok... Then it would not budge on coming out. I sprayed it reAl good but no luck... No worries... I sliced it up n oh my... It took our family down memory lane down south😁.. Mrs. Cook... I'm here for life... God bless you and on to the next recipe... 😘🤗

Hi Ms. Chris, loved this video... I am a baker as well. I use swan flour for my cakes and have the best outcome ever! I started cooking personally at about 12 and professionally 23 years old. Now in my 50s I've learned so much over the years and admire cooks like you and follow you all on you tube. Keep keeping it real Ms. Chris !
