- in this @AFRISTORYNETWORK video, we present a brief history of Uganda from independence in 1962 to 2021, Uganda became a constitutional monarchy with Elizabeth II as the queen of Uganda and a governor-general, who performed duties on her behalf.
The supreme central legislature became the Parliament of Uganda, consisting of the monarch and the National Assembly.
In 1963, Uganda adopted a new constitution abolishing the British monarchy, making it a federal state within the Commonwealth.
Following the proclamation of the State of Uganda on 9 October 1963, the King of Buganda, Edward Mutesa II, became Uganda's first president.
I am happy this channel is back.
Welcome back 🙌
Thanks Man

You finally remembered your youtube login credentials? African Biographics has been keeping us warm while you were gone.
Where have you been brother? We missed your documentaries.
hey! brother nice to see you back
Please note that Uganda gained its Independence on 9th October 1962 and not 1963 as stated in the video. Nonetheless, thank you for your commendable work covering African history
1963 was a Republic while 1962 Uganda Head of State was Queen Elizabeth II
Thanks for the history 😊
Very good and accurate history, well analysed
As a Kenyan, i must laugh at how much you’ve left out about Amin. Such flowery language for a total nutcase
Amin was greatly demonised by the West. He was very different and many Ugandans to day attest to it.
@@BRIANKAGOMBERO Tell that to the hundreds of Kenyans he killed for no reason
M7 has murdered many more Ugandans than what is claimed of Amin
He has murdered the following key figures:
1.
Gen Kazini
2. Gen Aronda Nyakirima
3. Gen Kasirye Gwanga
4. Brigadier Noble Mayombo
6. Joseph Kabila of DRC
7. John Garang
8. Serena Nebanda
9. The catholic bishop
10. Sheikh Muzaata
11. 500,000 Ugandans in luwero
Any too many more.
Why is he still in power? Because he serves the interest of the hypocrites of Western powers
Uganda was really a political theater. Thanks to the fundermental change propellers (NRA).
You African so-called politicians/leaders think about self, individualism, ---- instead of the collective spheres of the people, Africa ---! This is the main problem plaguing Africa 🌍, the African polical atmosphere and such actions must change going forward in Africa 🌍!
Are you perfect? Have you asked yourself the odds African leaders are faced with when they come into power?
You made this a whole movie, with the music. Loving it from Nairobi. Welcome back ndugu
hanks
If youre going to tell the story of Amin how can you tread so lightly over his security forces and the reign of terror they established? ( and what happened to all the intellectuals of his first cabinet)
How can you omit the murders he carried out personally?
How can you 'forget' to mention his cannibalism and the body parts found in his freezer and fridge after he ran away?
And above all why dont you discuss the Amin's Islamic policy (in a country with a minority of Muslims) - Or the fact that his entire administration concentrated power in the hands of his tribe who were mainly people of Sudan.
They were a Mafia who could steal and kill and rape with impunity. During Amin's time no road was safe to travel because the police or the military set up 'checkpoints' everywhere where you had to pay - either with money or your life.
You believe in propaganda.
Amin was never a cannibal.
Any African that liberates his people, Western supremacy puts dirt to his name.
Grow up!!!
A lot of resources are required to repurchace your brain that was completely and totally sold out!
Have you heard the word PROPAGANDA before?
@@Boviss1Bovis What has changed today?
@@musiclyfer Not enough has changed, honestly.
Idi Amin was chosen for promotion as a non com officer Because the British thought him stupid. They also wanted to promote marginal tribes like his as a counterweight to the popular traditional aristocracy.
It was part of their ages old policy of divide and conquer.
But Uganda had been a jewel of the British Empire.
The British left behind a modern infrastructure, a good economy and a functional legal system which was independent of the central and local government institutions.
It only took Obote and Amin 10 years or so to destroy all of it.
Like Obote and Amin before him, Yoweri Musaveni came to power on a wave of optimism.
And like Amin and Obote before him, after a few years of improved government, the Kleptocracy was restored along with a police state designed to keep the leadership clique in power and obscene wealth forever.
It is the perfect model of post colonial Africa.
This is what has happened from South Africa all the way to Libya.
@@Boviss1Bovis If you don't live in Uganda, I'm glad to be the first person to tell you that nothing has changed. And it's on record most of the deaths attributed to Amin, were in fact made by the one in power right now. Go listen to his speeches.
Ugandan military is much more experienced compared to any other East African country ❤
This shenanigans(backstabbing turncoats)started long ago across Africa.
The African countries have their own or systems of government before the advent of the European the scramble and partision of africa.we were having the kanuri empire Oyo empire the Benin empire the Dahomey the Zulus Khoisan Matabele and so on
there would be no better politician in the history of Uganda than Obote
Very informative piece. Thanks
This is a good research ever done in Uganda
Obote and Amin were developing the country.
Welcome back. Akpé loo ❤
