After the 27 May 1984 Heroes Day fete in Bushenyi, President Obote drove to
Mbarara, an area that had voted many DP MPs in 1980.
Urging them not to repeat this in 1985, he also swore that Yoweri Museveni,
a son of the area then in the bush, would never taste power.

Museveni was incapable of toppling Obote; he didn't have the military power to overthrow Obote.
It was the coup by the Okellos that brought disarray in the army and country which Museveni fully capitalised on to advance on Kampala.

the coup didn't happen out of the vacuum. It was result of infighting between the Acholis and Langis which its self was a result of battle set backs in Luwero.

@@robloxsuubi1886 the infighting had nothing to do with battle setbacks in Luwero. I had a grandfather in Obote's army and he was a major. So I know what am talking about. The problem started with Brig. Smith Opon Ocak when he replaced Maj. Gen Oyite Ojok as Chief of Staff. These were tribal skirmishes that spilled over. The Acholis and Langis failed to work together, so the fall of Obote and Tito Okello had more to do with internal disharmony than with Museveni rag tag and poorly trained rebels. There were military attempted assassinations of both Langis and Acholi military officers. For instance, the Acholis tried several times to eliminate Col. Ogole

When you listen to Owana, you quickly realize that the way one reports about a fallen and previous government is not the same the way one reports about a ruling government. Other than Owana's personal opinions which are seriously skewed, the pictures were great and i have realized that at one point Uganda was a united country where everyone talked about the common good for all Ugandans.

I it would be a good idea to teach the history of motherland, the good & bad to the next generations. Even Idi Amin has to be included in the syllabus, b'se I heard that the minister of education, who is the first lady, Jvanet Kataha Museveni gave a directive that school should not teach about ID Amin.
