Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Wong Kar Wai, THE GRANDMASTER is an epic action feature inspired by the life and times of the legendary Kung FU master, Ip Man who mentored Bruce Lee. The story spans the tumultuous Republican era that followed the fall of China’s last dynasty, a time of chaos, division and war that was also the golden age of Chinese martial arts. Filmed in a range of stunning locations that include the snow-swept landscapes of Northeast China and the subtropical South, THE GRANDMASTER features virtuoso performances by some of the greatest stars of contemporary Asian cinema, including Tony Leung and Ziyi Zhang.

I wasn’t a big fan of Zhang Ziyi, but she was phenomenal in the Grandmaster. I am so impressed with her tragic portrayal of her character, and the beautiful fight scenes. The parts about Gong Er were the best parts of this movie.
I saw Zhang Ziyi for the first time in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and 17 years later she´s still one of the most beautiful woman i´ve seen in my life.

The beauty of Asian women have is they have that believable illusion that they're immortal through age.
Zhang Ziyi is easily one of the best exports from China I have seen in quite some time. She is really getting up there with the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Jackie Chan and Jet Li as one of most recognisable Chinese actors and it's great to see her in even Western Films.
And I really like the no-messing-around approach of letting the actors/characters speak their native language without even worrying about dialect memes - just go for it. You speak Mando to me and I'll reply in Canto with "I don't know what you just said soz".
The choreography for this film was breathtakingly beautiful, and whoever filmed it was a genius

Grandmaster was a great move with great acting and plot. I thought it was one of the best martial arts movies ever made. I especially loved the fight scene with Ziyi and Leung. That was classic; I played it over and over again. What particularly made it unique was the build-up of the fight by showing all the tension in the faces of the masters anticipating the fight and the look of arrogance of the beautiful classy dressed women who seemed to say: how dare you challenge our mistress😊thank you for sharing.

After I knew her from Crouching tiger hidden dragon I keep following all if her previous works too.
Not mention how flexible in martial arts she is because she's well-trained martial art skilles before she entered entertainment business. She studied at Beijing university about art & film too but dropped out to start her career in ebtertainment business.

Justin Case I read online, I believe on Reddit, that’s there’s a Blu-ray edition being released in 2019 with 35 minutes of additional footage that was cut by the director to help with pacing issues which happens often. I’ll be buying it for sure because this is one of the best cinematographic martial arts films I’ve ever seen imo
